Boiledbeetle · 13/10/2024 22:45

I've been otherwise occupied this weekend!

Bannedontherun · 13/10/2024 22:47

@Boiledbeetle mysterious don’t you know

Bannedontherun · 13/10/2024 22:54

AlisonDonut · 13/10/2024 23:30

There was
Pans People
Legs and Co
Zoo

I lost track after then.

FuzzyPuffling · 14/10/2024 07:55

If only TOTP had had dancing gerbils. They missed a trick there.

MarieDeGournay · 14/10/2024 11:34

When the animals are awake, could I please have a support quokka, carrying a hot chocolate, supported by its own support degu, supported by its own support gerbil, as I'm not feeling at one with the world or the human race today, and need a whole team of support animals.
Undependable lot, the human race, even the ones you think are OK😠
Present company excluded of courseSmile

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 14/10/2024 11:43

When Diana married the Prince of Wales, I had a theory that her massive train had a lot of trained gerbils underneath it, to make it glide smoothly up the aisle.

When the wedding was over, they all got OGEs - Orders of the Gerbil Empire.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 14/10/2024 11:45

@MarieDeGournay - sending you hugs, many support creatures, and the Hot Chocolate bowser. Don't worry, I checked carefully, and it's not the Gravy Bowser - you can tell by the mini marshmallows round the hose.

lcakethereforeIam · 14/10/2024 12:00

I've lit the fire in the snug.

FuzzyPuffling · 14/10/2024 12:12

Aw, @MarieDeGournay I'm sorry to hear that. The quokkas are fluffing up their fur especially for you.

Magpiecomplex · 14/10/2024 12:24

Here you go Marie. The gerbil is hiding behind the other two, with just a hand holding the hot chocolate.

MarieDeGournay · 14/10/2024 12:32

Thank you, I feel better already, there's nothing like a small group of furry animals, hot chocolate, and a hot chocolate bowser to cheer you upSmile
and mostly of course the kind thoughts of the furry-animal-handlers and hot-choc-makers Grin

I'll have what she's having.

For @MarieDeGournay : choose an image & feel the warmth. I suggest #2, to avoid misshapen rodents & males which I did not ask for. The first set each had a decorated Xmas tree in & I was about to berate the AI when I realised I'd placed you next to a fir rather than next to a fire.😂

I've just reread the title and now, for some reason, I've got the Venga Boys as an earworm!?

Fella opened the D2B tin yesterday. Much to my surprise it contained biscuits. In the interest of science I've been gradually eating them, occasionally replacing the lid. I think if I get below a critical biscuit mass, I'll removed the lid to find the expected mixture of buttons, keys (Allen and door), fuses, broken watches and curtain hooks.

<we, we, we like to party, the Venga bus is coming 🎶>

MarieDeGournay · 14/10/2024 16:15

Thank you ifIwerenotanandroid .

They all have good points, even the one with the bloke in it also has a cute little gerbil in a ruff, who, I think, has just told Monsieur Ruff that he's in the wrong place and needs to pop off down to the Allié Fidèle sharpish if he knows what's bon pour lui..Angry

Bottom left is nice because I'm not flaunting my embonpointBlush
The top one is nice because of the affectionate look the gerbil and I are exchanging.Flowers
They all have cake and warmth, so they are all lovely thank youSmile
Thank you Stockingers for cheering me up!

ErrolTheDragon · 14/10/2024 17:25

Cheering up other women really is the raison d'être of this set of Bluestockings.

It's the sanctuary of the sisterhood, with the right sort of furries!

FuzzyPuffling · 14/10/2024 17:50

I need cheering with a quokka now.

I made the mistake of reading a thread in Philosophy about " What non Christians think of Jesus". Lots of sensible historic discussion, but even more stuff that I found really offensive. ( I'm a Christian). MN hates Christianity. I shouldn't get upset, but it’s hurtful.

On the good side, there was a lovely thread last night about favourite Bible verses that didn't descend into insults.

lcakethereforeIam · 14/10/2024 18:03

I'm not a believer but some of the writings and sentiments of people who are can be truly uplifting. I think I mentioned somewhere on MN recently one of my favourite poems

High Flight
By John Gillespie Magee Jr.
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds,—and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of—wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air ....

Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark nor ever eagle flew—
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

And I heard a CS Lewis quote earlier today from one of the Daily Wire blokes that gave me feels. I'll try to find it.

FuzzyPuffling · 14/10/2024 18:09

I love that poem, @ICake. Thank you.

DeanElderberry · 14/10/2024 18:10

The main gerbil in the top image looks pleasant enough, but what's going on in the background? Has that gerbil eaten the leg and head of the person who owns the clothes or is it colonising a Guy Fawkes dummy constructed to celebrate a particularly brutal form of execution?

FuzzyPuffling, I'll have to go and look at that now, but will probably just lurk on it.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 14/10/2024 18:11

Here you go, little Fuzzball. You're among friends now. Let the warmth of the fire melt the hurt away.

Boiledbeetle · 14/10/2024 18:11

It was Spartacus' turn to be the furry today! I'm going to the bar, can someone with thumbs help her out of the suit, the zip is stuck!
