Thanks to everyone on thread 1. I am pleased it generated such interest and conversations. I have learnt a lot from many very bright women.

Even more bizarrely, to think that those neo-nazi's were there supporting the feminists!

Everyone seems to forget there was that one other group who is, apparently, a regular on the steps there, who was there at the same time. They seem to have been there that day talking about safeguarding children if I remember listening to them shouting on the video. I think at the time, I found something on social media saying that the men were there supporting that group, but that could have been someone idea and it might never have been confirmed. Either way, the banner fit the topic of the things said caught on video by that group.

The absolute ostrich-like denial is so odd to behold. Neo nazis/far right regularly turn up uninvited to LWS events. KJK and her friends regularly get into abusive twitter spats with others where they call each other paedos, mutilators, nazis, groomers, fetishists etc.

The risks of Neo-Nazis turning up, or of one of the organisers tweeting something offensive was high. Therefore the risk of reputational damage was high.

Moira's response suggests either 1) she didn't do due diligence or 2) she knew but didn't care for whatever reason.

That's just a statement of the obvious at this point

Also, if they're protesting LWS, they can hardly be aligned with them!

Are you saying they weren't there supporting the LWS event? The group put out a statement saying that's exactly what they were doing. Presumably because they decided only they could protect the women from the behaviours you describe upthread.

I believe they clarified on social media after that initial post that they did not support Let Women Speak.

Remember Datun, that another group was to the side of LWS, the neo nazi group was just as close to where they had been standing if I remember the video. ie. further along the steps in their designated spot which was at the end of the street that the Victoria Socialist Party were protesting. I believe that by the time the LWS rally started, that group's time slot had just finished.

I hope the copy worthy slipperiness of Mr Persutto will whet the appetite of the Australian press.

So I’m trying to get my head round this , is being suggested that it’s a defence for a politician to believe, from what they read on sources like Twitter, that a woman is a nazi/ nazi aligned and that if they repeat that allegation that that is NOT defamation because that belief is reasonably held?

Not being funny but I can really see how it would advantage people with certain beliefs for this to be true!

However at 32 mins Thomas Sewell states clearly that those men were NOT ALLIES of the women (LWS)!

Before that, this YouTuber has picked out what Sewell said while he had the megaphone and was speaking over the LWS speakers. Sewell says they are there to support the women who they protest with each week for the past three years.

Pesutto's actions ended up fulfiling Sewell's stated aim.

I wonder if anyone has suggested - on social media in Australia - that Pesutto had links with Nazis? Since their aims aligned perfectly with regard to Moira Deeming. And I wonder how seriously Pesutto would take such suggestions?
