Pretty scathing. Wadhwa cannot stay surely?

In an organisation supposedly dedicated to protecting and helping vulnerable women.

From everything I've seen, the needs of the vulnerable women have always, every time, been at the very bottom of the list of priorities, and I'm being kind in assuming that they even appear on the list at all. The actions of ERC, Wadhwa, the ERC board, what they did to Roz Adams, how badly they have let down the very women ERC exists to suppport, and now Brindley using victims to try to save her own ass, are unfathomably cruel and rotten to the very core. The whole lot should be fired. Another enquiry should be held to determine how such a toxic and diseased culture was allowed to fester for so long untreated.
I've just watched Shauny Boy's The Tartan Messiah, so I think I know the answer to my last point.
It is interesting though, that once the truth comes out, they all end up getting fired in disgrace. Sturgeon, Yousef, Wadhwa, and next up Brindley. It's almost like you can get away with ignoring and abusing women for a while, but it always ends in tears for the abuser. Maybe a lesson to be learned there.

Anastomosisrex · 15/09/2024 11:48

It is very grim to see the conclusion of the report basically being that women-only facilities need to be set up. Again. Because by permitting men in under the mixed sex definition of women has rendered the women-only ones useless for their intended purpose.

I'd like to know Sarah Owen's views on this, considering the day that the report came out, she was announcing how the mixed sex version of 'woman' was definitely wonderful and lovely and best for everyone and only silly immature people (by which I suppose she meant people like raped and traumatised women) said otherwise.

Hoardasurass · 15/09/2024 11:49

I wonder if in light of the report Brindley will roll back on her claim that rcs has been inclusive of transwomen for years with no problems or harm happening to women and girls 🤔.
Somehow given her most recent statements and actions I doubt it.

Can anyone recommend the article about the meeting she had with rape survivors where she brought a lawyer and trans activist to bully and intimidate the survivors? If anyone Haa a link it might be worth forwarding it to the record for their updated/next article

The trouble is that once you are talking about someone who has decided on an alternative faith based reality, they will just identify out of facts that they don't like. They will look directly at evidence and just claim they cannot see it; we've seen it happen many times.

Someone who is so heavily prejudiced and controlled by the limits of their beliefs however should be considered wholly unfit to hold any position of responsibility or service provision. The two things are incompatible.

ArabellaScott · 15/09/2024 11:55

Some seem to see this sector as a way to further their own ambitions.

To put it another way; they see vulnerable people as a useful resource. A means to an end.

When they accused women of 'weaponising trauma', it was DARVO.

ArabellaScott · 15/09/2024 13:05

For what it's worth, I also find it somewhat jarring that the CEO of a Rape Crisis centre would describe it as her 'dream job'.

I understand people being passionate about their work, but there seem to be a lot of signs that Rape Crisis Scotland is not centering survivors.

Dream job sort of depends on your motivations doesn't it?
I imagine a paedophile's dream job would be working with children from a position of authority.
We can only wonder what motivates a male who's dream job is working with vulnerable rape victim females from a position of authority.

ArabellaScott · 15/09/2024 13:43

To clarify, it was one of the board of Directors of RCS (a female) who described her job as CEO of a woman's rape crisis centre as her 'dream job'.

My point is that a job like that is not about how rewarding it is for the person doing it; an organisation like that is surely focused on the day it makes itself obsolete.

https://media.ed.ac.uk/media/Mridul+Wadhwa+Video+Interview/1_ikak2ynz

Mridul displays very odd behaviour in this interview, seems to be avoiding eye contact, quite apart from the meaningless content of much of what is said. How on earth did the CEO job interviewers actually choose such a person for such an important role?

Intersectionality.... Background in ethnic minority advocacy *, being inclusive in ways more than just writing a paragraph...

I think the board saw the Sari and knew they had their top pick. (I nearly said had their man. Trans woman. Woman)

Does anyone know the Blocked and Reported podcast? It's run by 2 US journalists who have both been burned by peeking a little too closely into Good And Progressive Causes and the people who style themselves as Advocates and Activists. Not to say that they are right wing. Far from it.

Wadhwa in this context is a bit like Rachael Dolezal. And the tendency of self id-ers to take offence into background checks just helps an awful lot of grifters

  • Would the ethnic women's group he was claiming to have started out representing have known Wadhwas' Trans Joy? I doubt it.
CocoapuffPuff · 15/09/2024 13:46

Maggie Chapman again....Ol' Maggie is a regular swimmer in the cesspit of gender ideology. I wonder why? Why are some women so deep into it? Are they that power hungry? Or is there a female fetish involved? Women puzzle me far more than the men who are into it.

I feel about 'my dream job is that you're raped and I get to help you'- even if very innocently well intentioned - in about the same way I feel about the comment that the important thing to the person in question was to 'keep things fun'.

It slides past inappropriate and tone deaf to really questioning who was meeting whose needs. And who was in the position of power to do the choosing and using.

I honestly think that, despite the recent RCS report, ERCC and other likeminded RCS around the UK would do the whole faulty hiring process again.

They’d do the whole song and dance about using the Equality Act to restrict the post to women only and then go on to define a woman to be anyone who says they’re one.

None of the people involved in any of this ridiculous and harmful situation think they’re done anything wrong in letting gender ideology into the women’s care sector 🤷‍♀️

On the contrary. They think they are doing a Good Thing, by Re Educating bigots. Which is to say, forcing women who are seeking help after rape to be more accepting of men, to get over their desire for a female counsellor, and to Unlearn Transphobia.

Teaching the great unwashed how to be on the right side of history, by acquiescing to men's demands.

It's fucking grotesque.

JKR's latest thread: (fkin ell)

x.com/jk_rowling/status/1835374422191964350?s=46&t=A2fpFNgDRyXF2d6ye97wEA

I've been aware of one of the incidents described in this thread for a long time, because I know people involved. I'm posting this in response to the head of Rape Crisis Scotland's attempts to use rape survivors as human shields for her own career. 1/9

The incident involves a group of female sexual assault survivors, who a few years ago requested a meeting with Sandy Brindley, head of Rape Crisis Scotland. They wanted to express their concerns about gender self-ID legislation. 2/9

Specifically, the survivors wanted Rape Crisis Scotland to support a woman's right to request a female medical practitioner. They went to the meeting well aware that they'd be reliving and possibly discussing their own highly traumatic experiences . 3/9

When they arrived at the meeting, the survivors found another woman present, in addition to Sandy Brindley. This woman wasn't introduced, so the survivors assumed she must be another woman who'd experienced rape or sexual assault. 4/9

They were mistaken. The woman in question was @sharoncowan22, Sandy Brindley's romantic partner, who had no role at Rape Crisis Scotland but is an academic with a particular interest in gender identity and trans issues. 5/9

Sandy Brindley, the head of a rape crisis charity, had invited her girlfriend to sit in on a meeting with victims, none of whom had given consent to identifying themselves as rape survivors in front of a total stranger.
6/9

As if that wasn't enough, @sharoncowan spoke up during the meeting to berate and criticise women who want same-sex medical care. The survivors' concerns were dismissed and they were sent on their way. 7/9

What happened at that meeting has been an open secret ever since among people particularly engaged in the gender self-ID debate. A large number of people were aware that Sandy Brindley had been guilty of a staggering breach of trust and lack of professionalism. 8/9

Brindley, who claims to be unaware of calls for her to be fired, is responsible for the catastrophe at Edinburgh Rape Crisis. She has betrayed rape survivors' trust in the most brazen ways imaginable. Scottish rape survivors deserve far, far better. Brindley has to go. 9/9

Anastomosisrex · 15/09/2024 19:23

I am not sure whether this is the meeting that a MNetter attended - it was some years ago, but I hate to think that more than one group of women endured being treated this way by people paid to be there to help them - but if so, afterwards the person who led the meeting, listened to the women many of whom were in tears by the end, and then later denied that any women had ever raised any issues or concerns regarding men with transitioner identities permitted to be in the refuges.

Denied. Selective reality is where it's at. That and who has the power to own reality and force others to submit to them.

@londoner_woman I challenged Sandy Brindley, CEO of Rape Crisis Scotland this year, at a criminal justice conference. She was on a panel. I challenged her trans activist partner, Professor Sharon Cowan, at another conference, earlier on this year. 😂💅
@londoner_woman I'm going to share a brief reason why I challenged Professor Sharon Cowan, at a conference, earlier this year, at Edinburgh University. A very strong woman, has asked me to do this, a few minutes ago.
@londoner_woman 1/ Here goes. The conference I attended at Edinburgh University, earlier this year, was specifically about discussing and tackling the huge rates of sexual abuse occurring on all the campuses.
@londoner_woman 2/ The panel was a mix of academics and Edinburgh University support staff. There was one student on the panel, a female, who happened to be a trans activist too. More of this later.
@londoner_woman 3/ As I read the information about the forthcoming conference, I noticed that Professor Sharon Cowan, also a major trans activist, and partner of Sandy Brindley, CEO of Rape Crisis Scotland, was going to be on the panel also. This was thee deciding factor for me attending.
@londoner_woman 4/ This is Professor Sharon Cowan. She has/is very influential on legalities, including trans rights. (Just for context)
@londoner_woman 5/ More context: In 2021, a group of female survivors of sexual abuse/rape, met with Sandy Brindley, CEO of Rape Crisis Scotland, to discuss their concerns about the proposed 'SELFID' laws, especially with regards to wanting female only practitioners/therapists.
@londoner_woman 6/These brave women met Sandy Brindley at Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre. The women were supported and accompanied by Joan McAlpine, who was an MSP of the Scottish parliament, at the time.
@londoner_woman 7/The group of survivors were called 'Heal Survivors' and they wanted assurances that they would be able to access female only practitioners, in light of the current political climate.
@londoner_woman 8/ At the meeting, with Sandy Brindley-unbeknownst to the Heal Survivors and Joan McAlpine- Sandy had surreptitiously invited her trans activist partner, to this confidential meeting, Professor Sharon Cowan, trans activist.
@londoner_woman 9/ Sharon Cowan was not introduced at this meeting. The women thought she must be another survivor, just like them.
@londoner_woman 10/ Subsequently, when one of the women was sharing her concerns about the prospect of not being guaranteed a biological female practitioner, Sharon Cowan started to berate this woman, infront of everyone-thus retraumatising this woman and the group.
@londoner_woman 11/Infering that these women were bigoted for wanting a female worker, and not biological man, who identified as a woman, to be their therapist/practitioner. These women were not given any assurances at this meeting that they would get trauma informed care incl: female workers.
@londoner_woman 12/ Sandy Brindley broke the anonymity of these survivors and broke their trust by having her trans activist partner present at this meeting-as it was clearly a nefarious agenda at play. It was an act of intimidation. Unsurprisingly these women were devastated.
@londoner_woman 13/Now back to me deciding to attend this conference at Edinburgh University. I went there for the sole purpose to challenge Professor Sharon Cowan, on her repugnant behaviour towards the heal survivors, and in light of the nature of the conference re:sexual abuse on campus.
@londoner_woman 14/ So, I booked my place on this conference and I went along. Prior to going, I re-read some of Professor Cowan's published academic papers, just to remind myself, again, what I was dealing with. This will become clear, shortly.
@londoner_woman 15/ At the conference. Arrived. Purposely took a seat, further at the back, incase I got recognised. Mostly students were attending this conference, in what appeared to be in normal uni classroom. The room was packed, with the panel seated at the front.
@londoner_woman 16/ The panel discussed the huge rates of sexual abuse, including rapes, at all of the University Campuses. It was pretty clear that this was/is a massive scandal and that Edinburgh University were not dealing with this situation well.
@londoner_woman 17/ Even the reporting systems in place were not working effectively, nor were the numbers of incidents being properly documented. The numbers of incidents in the hundreds. Let that sink in.
@londoner_woman 18/ Much was said about the need to 'create safe spaces' on campus. These words were echoed, again and again. It appeared to me that these issues were not being properly addressed by Edinburgh University, and obviously young women were mostly the victims.
@londoner_woman 19/Towards the end of the panel discussion, even Professor Cowan mentioned the need of safe spaces for victims of sexual abuse, on campus. I couldn't believe my ears. So I decided to use her comments to then segue into what I wanted to say to her-during question time.
@londoner_woman 20/ Question Time: I waited till approximately 4 people asked a question of the panel, before I came in, with my note pad ready 😂.
@londoner_woman 21/ Now for the fun part. My turn to ask the panel. I thanked the panel first and for highlighting the need to create safe spaces on campus. I then turned to address Professor Cowan. I began by acknowledging her mention of the importance of safe spaces for survivors.
@londoner_woman 22/ I asked her how can she mention the need for safe spaces for survivors of sexual abuse, when she berated the Heal Survivors, at a confidential meeting, at Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre, because these survivors wanted female only practitioners-trauma informed care.
@londoner_woman 23/ I also mentioned that the survivors did not know who she was, and that it wasn't appropriate, in any way, for her to even be there. I told her she re-traumatised these women. Shaming and berating them for wanting female centred care.
@londoner_woman 24/ I then read out specific passages, from one of her academic papers, regarding 'sex by deception' in the context of people concealing their trans identity. Her paper, an apologist piece, has some very very questionable hypotheses.
@londoner_woman 25/ Unsurprisingly, she didn't look happy and invited me for a chat afterwards, in her office. I didn't go. I did however have trans activists going a bit mental at me, during the conference, for having the temerity to hold Professor Sharon Cowan accountable, publicly.
@londoner_woman 26/ I will now be posting the academic paper, in question, on this thread, shortly. I did think about writing a piece about this experience, afterwards, but to be honest I was incredibly jaded. Luckily I wasn't assaulted during or after the conference, but I did get a lot of shit
@londoner_woman 27/ Here is the academic paper that I pulled relevant passages from and read out loud at that conference.
