this has really pissed me off.

It's him trying to punish a woman by implying he will impregnate her. it's disgusting sexual harassment. Vile human Musk is. Shows how he values women doesn't it?

biscuitandcake · 11/09/2024 15:04

Its attention seeking is what it is.
Also, bleeeeeurghhhhhh

I feel a bit sorry for Taylor Swift, because its obvious she didn't want to get drawn into political commentating but got nagged into it - people on Trumps side producing Swift for Trump memes, and people on Harris' side getting angry at her for apparently being friends with a republican leaning woman. People complain about celebrities "the elite" getting involved in politics/talking about who they will vote for but then force them to do so.

biscuitandcake · 11/09/2024 15:15

Rather than handing out children to random childless women, maybe he should give the existing mothers of his children custody of those children? Charity beginning at home and all...

CassieMaddox · 11/09/2024 15:19

Eeeewwwww.
He really is vile vile vile.
I wonder if given the rumours about Oonagh Heard he was merely offering his superior autist sperm and access to a surrogate network.

He is antifeminist on so many levels.

I couldn't imagine someone being this obviously anti-feminist and yet people suggesting otherwise? boggles the mind.

This is not true. “Rare earth metals” are not even slightly rare, they are badly named.

Whilst it's true that they're not actually rare as a percentage of the crust's composition, they are rarely concentrated in economically viable deposits. There is currently a rush to locate more and several deposits have been located in North America.

It never used to be a problem, when Cerium was the main target, used in small quantities for things like lighter flints and some others for doping computer chips and other electronic components.

Similarly, there is about 20 million tons of gold dissolved in the oceans, but the cost of extraction would far outweigh the commercial value of it.

Whoever used Lithium as an example, it's not a rare earth metal, it's an alkali metal. There's a sizeable deposit of lithium ore in Cornwall, whose granite is rich in various lithium minerals. It's about 30 years since I went on a field trip, but in Megaligga (?) there is a vein of lepidolite, a lithium containing mica - loads of beautiful specks of it

Are you a geologist sinner? I love a bit of rock licking myself

I dunno. I've heard many transmen say they feel loads better when they start taking T. Their thinking is clearer and they feel more emotionally stable and calmer. It definitely has some beneficial effects.

"..there is also an interesting conversation to be had about the effects of testosterone levels on decision-making – it’s a question that has been studied for a very long time. And you know what those studies show? That testosterone makes men “less likely to question their impulses” and is linked to “less self-reflection”..".

I'd say half the threads in AIBU are due to the inability of the poster to say No to someone. I find this fascinating but also very frustrating.

Hmmmmm.... I was friends with someone who took drugs regularly, eventually getting a severe addiction, who reckoned that taking cocaine not only made them feel good (undoubtable true) but also just made them a better, less boring version of themselves etc. From the outside, it did NOT. See also alcohol, the more I drink, the more convinced I am of my sparkling wit and excellent dancing skills.

If 100% of people say taking X drug makes them feel more confident, happy, less in pain then probably the drug does that. If all those people say the drug makes them smarter, more rational, better at reasoning you can't conclude the drug does that. Especially if you are asking them while they are taking the drug. How do you know that you are thinking clearly. (Like the character Theus in the Bacchae by Euripedes - at one point he thinks that he is talking to a man and hallucinating a giant bull. Really he is talking to the giant bull and hallucinating a man. He thinks he is the only rational character in the play. But he's insane.)

That doesn't mean men or those with lots of testosterone = less rational/more emotional. But it also doesn't make them more rational/less emotional either. Certainly, the behaviour of many transmen doesn't scream unemotional rationalist to me.

Enough of the geology and pharmacology yadda yadda - let me through, I'm a space cadet!

So I heard on the news that the ultimate goal behind the SpaceX Polaris Dawn project is that 'Elon Musk wants to go to Mars'.

Now THERE'S a cause that I just know you'll want to crowdfund for, so get your forks and spades out and getting digging for Elon!

And I'm remembering that old radfem 'joke' - If they can put one man on the moon, why can't they put them all there?'. Replace with 'Elon' and 'Mars' where appropriate..😂

@MarieDeGournay
He wants to colonise mars, not just land on it remember.
So careful, or you will end up a space wife, on Mars popping out sprog after sprog in order to breed a future Martian super-race.

In all seriousness, expanding into space, going to Mars is cool. Governments are more focused on the "practical" facts that sending robots rather than humans is more efficient, but there is something inherently cool about human endeavour and exploration not just robots. Given that he has the chance (money, resources) to be involved in something so interesting, its baffling that he spends hours and hours on Twitter/X shit posting idiotic takes.

If you're argument is citing an example of a drug addict then you don't have an argument.

Menopausal women are another group who can find testosterone useful.

All drugs have unpleasant side effects.

hamstersarse · 12/09/2024 10:49

I’m interested in the impact of hormones on decision making.

At a very basic level, I had varying degrees of rationality throughout my menstrual cycle. The PMS phase being especially objectively worse.

Now I’m in the reduced oestrogen phase, I can see how my nurturing arsedness has reduced significantly. When I was 30, I’d have been overly vigilant in looking after others, especially my children. I’d sacrifice myself easily and essentially without complaint to look after others.

I’m not like that now, much more able to be rational now the female hormones have reduced. I don’t think it’s just ageing, I think hormones play a role.

Given I don’t know what it’s like to have High T, I think it’s interesting to wonder whether making decisions about certain things are easier, even if they are riskier, By certain things, I think I mean business decisions, creative decisions, practical decisions, because I’d also hypothesise that High O women make way better decisions around caring for others, children and communities, than High T men

There’s probably a lovely symbiotic relationship that nature created 🤷‍♀️

It doesn't just apply to drug addicts though. I am right anyway because I am more rational than you. I know I am more rational than you because I feel, deep within myself, a complete confidence in my own rationality. I have no confidence in your rationality. Therefore I am more rational than you. Do you see the inherent problem there?

Do you not think this is just stereotyping/placebo effect? I think its the same as TW saying oestrogen has made them "more emotional and in touch with their feminine side" 🙄

I feel it's pretty regressive to think men are innately "better thinkers" because of testosterone.

Its also a bit confusing, because the whole point of transmen being transmen is that they feel like men deep inside (therefore are men). Taking testosterone then makes them more rational, because men produce testosterone and that biological difference is what makes men rational - (and the relationship between T and rationality proves men are more rational). But if the transmen were fundamentally men all along, they would have had stereotypical male traits like rationality. But they didn't because it comes from T. But if it comes from T then maleness isn't an inherent trait transmen can have. But then they aren't really men, so why take testosterone.

Or possibly I don't understand because I don't have enough rationality juice pumping through my veins

MarieDeGournay · 12/09/2024 11:04

That explains a lot of what's going on, thanks biscuitandcake!

BTW I'm also respectfully reading your other posts about drugs, hormones etc.

Exactly!
In my simple lady brain I just don't pay particular attention to what they say about testosterone because the whole ideology is built around self-deception.
