He is "High T" in the sense of being not just a Twat but an uber-Twat. The kind of Twat you look for when you are searching for a prime example of Twat.

Summerhillsquare · 07/09/2024 16:45

A stupid one at that.

MarieDeGournay · 07/09/2024 16:52

Totes agree with Elon. I definitely can't think freely because of low T.
So I'm putting the kettle on. Anybody like to join me? Bring your own er... baked goods 🍰[don't want to get deleted, now do I?]Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 07/09/2024 17:02

If he'd said that women can't always express their thoughts then he'd have had a valid point, though one too obvious for him to bother making.

And it's not just because we're individually less strong on average - it's because of sexist societies.

For someone who is unarguably very clever in some ways he's a blithering idiot in others.

It's the old 'knowing that tomatoes are fruit[s] but also knowing not to put them in fruit salad' thing, isn't it?🙄

He's a stupid persons idea of a clever person.

The beauty of the internet - and indeed modern media - is the efficiency it can deliver. Judicious use of Betteridges law, and some rudimentary critical analysis, and you find you can ignore huge swathes of content.

For example, if you see a video that is 10 minutes long, about a question that has a yes or no answer, you know you can safely ignore it.

In fact Twitter is in itself a great time saver. If it's on Twitter, it can be safely ignored. I suspect this is probably why advertisers are swerving it. The whole brand protection thing is something they dreamt up to annoy Musk.

Well no. He's objectively 'clever'.

But he lacks wisdom, and obviously in this case has some sort of severe ignorance and logic failure. In this case he's bizarrely confusing women's reduced ability to speak freely with their ability to think freely. Afghanistan throws this into horrible focus.

Hang on, isn't this guy supposed to be a massive supporter of free speech? It's a pretty feeble idea of 'free speech' if it's only for so-called 'high status males'. If he was a truly strong man he'd be vigorously defending the right of everyone to be able to express their thoughts freely.

OvaHere · 07/09/2024 18:29

Maybe high T makes you say stuff when it would have been better to say nothing. Plenty of evidence for that. 😂

This is bollocks. That's like saying anything online can be safely ignored.

Back to the initial tweet of Elon's putting "interesting idea" below some dubious claim is barely worthy of comment.

No it's not. You can tell, because the words are different.

Elon’s answer to the Thai cave situation was to call a rescuer a ‘pedo guy’ when the rescue team dismissed Elon’s prototype minisub, which was untested and too rigid to go through the tunnels.

Elon makes impulsive decisions and has no time for reflection. Evaluation and refinement brings better results long term.

I know of no better decision makers than mothers. They have to multitask, teach, nurture, sustain and protect their offspring by constant decision making.

And whenever there’s an emergency, show me the mother who says ‘oh no, I don’t know what to do - I need a manly man to tell me!!!’

autumnreset · 07/09/2024 19:36

Ok, I have questions.

Did he basically just say 'interesting observation' and the meme/ the actual statement wasn't something he himself said or further commented on?

Is he publicly known to be using an illegal drug called ketamine, (and isn't that the one that can cause severe incontinence issues)? Do you not get in trouble with the law about being public with that (you clearly have connections with a drug supplier)?

My T is low but also I have some brain fog, possibly as a symptom of peri menopause.

twohotwaterbottles · 07/09/2024 19:47

As per the thread title, he is indeed a twat of the first order. He's ruined Twitter for one. It's a toxic, evil place now.

biscuitandcake · 08/09/2024 00:21

It's weird how he has gone on about Dune being a really good book, but a really big thing in that book referenced in every chapter, is the importance of self control and not just acting on blind, random impulses.

Maybe powerful people should have to do an alternative version of the Gom Jabber but instead of a box of pain they just have to sit in a room with nothing to interest them for a few hours without posting something idiotic on Twitter. I predict very few of the "high status" males would survive.

biscuitandcake · 08/09/2024 00:23

I think, as far as evolutionary biology goes, the "natural" leaders are post menopausal women like with Killer Whales
Or we could just... Stick with democracy?

SinnerBoy · 08/09/2024 01:33

Elon Musk is a Twat

In other news, the sun rises in the East.

YankSplaining · 08/09/2024 02:27

I hate how Elon Musk threads always move away from “I think Elon Musk is wrong” and into making judgments on his intelligence, personality, or other personal things about him. Yes, he’s very intelligent. He’s also autistic, hence the lack of nuance and lack of giving a damn about whether something is socially acceptable to say.

But its relevant, because the whole point of the post he found "interesting" is that people like him - neurodiverse "high status" males are better suited to making decisions than everyone else. If you are setting yourself and other men like you up as natural leaders, you open your character and leadership qualities (or lack thereof) for public discussion.

He's also quite receptive to the idea that democracy is a dud and what we really need are men (natch) like him to run our lives.

I'm not 'fundamentally at his mercy because' I have never engaged with Twitter or X because I could see what it was and where it was heading from the beginning.
I don't hate Elon Musk, I just don't engage with his empire.

CyclingSam · 08/09/2024 13:45

I don't pay much attention to what Musk says, I respect what he's done: made free speech popular again, and angered those (politicians and certain activists come to mind) who have reason to keep people afraid to exercise it. It's a shame some have found themselves in a toxic algorithmic hell, but that's not my experience.
