"Good Law Project to cease taking on Trans Legal Cases from 2025 onwards" - according to angry trans reddit

https://www.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/comments/1f82b6s/good_law_project_to_cease_taking_on_trans_legal/

Good news if true indeed.

I cannot however find any evidence further afield, does anyone get the GLP newsletter? that seems to be where this is from.

A full quote supplied in the reddit thread says:

"Dear Friend
We’ve been working together to stand up for trans rights, so I thought you’d like to hear how Good Law Project’s work in this area is going to evolve.
In 2025 we’ll be shifting our focus. Instead of funding or taking on legal cases ourselves, we’ll be supporting a trans and queer organisation with a three-year funding commitment. We’ve thought long and hard about the best way to keep fighting for trans rights and lives, and we feel that this is the moment for us to put our weight behind an organisation led by trans people.
It’s getting harder and harder to win rights for the trans community through the courts, and it doesn’t feel right to keep asking the community and its allies to carry on contributing to the enormous costs of this increasingly difficult litigation.
We’re incredibly proud of the work we’ve done in this space over the last five years. We’ll keep acting as allies, speaking out when we can make a meaningful contribution to the debate and supporting the tireless work of others standing up for trans rights. But for now, at least, we’ll be focusing our legal campaigns elsewhere.
We still have important work to do between now and the end of the year. In November we’ll be making sure the voices and experiences of trans people are heard, when a case affecting the freedoms they have relied on for 20 years is heard in the Supreme Court.
And through our colleagues at Good Law Practice we’ll carry on supporting The Clare Project to get answers at inquest about the tragic loss of a trans person’s life.
Good Law Project only exists because of the amazing support of people like you. I hope you’ll keep working with us as we keep holding power to account.
In solidarity,
Jo, Good Law Project"

If true

  2. how much funding?

This will probably be Jolyon paying his child & their friends to leave little paper coffins outside Wes Streeting's office no?

An 8 metre roll of kraft paper is £3.30 and 10 pairs of safety scissors are £28 in Hobbycraft.

Obviously the actual making will be voluntary unpaid activism.

So I think we have a handle on the funding here. Say, £31.30 start up costs then £6.10 - £11.70 per month, depending in how many pairs of scissors go missing, for as long as they can be bothered (certainly not 3 years).

Which case does this refer to?

They've spent the last 5 years telling trans people everyone hates them and that they are at high risk of suicide and now they're effectively abandoning them. They're disgusting.

IMO TGL are grifting psychopaths, the fox killer might have hoped his name would go down in the history books as a major player in a new "civil rights" movement and now that looks less likely he's backing away before the shit sticks.

Yep. Grifters gonna grift.

Yes, but let's not forget that although having a trans identity is not a medical condition, it does nevertheless need medical treatment in the form of hormone therapy and surgery if the trans person feels it does. None of that comes cheap, given that it probably all has to be paid for outside the NHS, so should be factored in as well.

If its not a medical issue there is no medical need.

If there is a demand for something thats non medical, then thats not something the NHS should be facilitating. Because medical ethics.

If its a medical issue, all medicalisation should be subject to safety reviews and studies. Refusal to participate in this, means there is no proper oversight therefore there can't be medical ethics.

No medical ethics, no unproven treatment.

The arguements are circular but all come back to a point of denial on the part of those wanting to transition and those blindly cheerleading them to self harm.

What are these, coffins for MICE?

spannasaurus · 04/09/2024 12:06

The Good Law Project accounts to 31 January 2024 shows reserves of £4.3m mainly in cash. Now they might of spent that in the last 7 months as expenditure in the y/e 31 Jan 24 was around £5m but they could still be a significant amount of cash remaining.

'It’s getting harder and harder to win rights for the trans community through the courts'
👌

Obviously they're not going to be bothering themselves wondering why that might be.

Apparently the Reddit crew are saying the only option is for them to leave the country, at which point the country will collapse at their loss....

*What do we do when abusive friends or family members refuse to accept us? Cut them out of our lives.
If an entire country becomes abusive and refuses to accept us, the same applies I’m afraid.
A country that gets so bad it forces a minority to leave will rapidly become a nightmare hellhole for everyone else anyway. *...

Where will they go?

How many will bump.up against the reality of visa and residence permits? You can identify as all sorts, and even get ID as the opposite sex, but if you try to self identify as a citizen or resident of another country, the authorities are inexplicably unaccepting.

"Trans Women working in single sex spaces

Hi, I'm a trans woman who had been working in a single sex refuge part time for about 3-4 months, ive just been told that although they really like me and think I'm a good worker they can't allow me to continue working at the refuge

It's encouraging that they're starting to understand the single sex exceptions in the EA, and the limitations of a GRC.

I'm sure tranada will give them asylum
