"p15, Have a bag ready in case you need to leave quickly"
P20, "I've been clear that I need you to call me by my chosen name. If you are unable to do that right now, I will need to leave."

Why is a youth group targeting 13 plus years olds with advice that if their parents don't comply with a name change they should leave home? Do they not know what happens to children alienated from their parents? Do they know what happens to children on the streets? Do they not care?
Or is there a more sinister reason?

I used to roll my eyes at people suggesting nefarious motives for these sort of things but given all the evidence I’m forced to believe what they’re telling is, that this is explicitly about breaking down family bonds, about breaking g down societal norms and ultimately leading to a darker future with more abuse in it.

INeedAPensieve · 25/08/2024 14:08

There's a thread I started which has been added to by others to collate all of the threads and news articles about LGBT youth Scotland. There are some really awful stories about the CEO who ran a paedophile ring. There's been no formal investigation after that into safeguarding etc which is shocking. Also an abuse survivor has raised concerns about them he was badly abused by them. Then of course their general behaviour re. The Cass report etc. It's worrying how much influence they have in Scottish schools. The abuse survivor said he contacted both Shona Robison and Nicola sturgeon and was ignored.

Article exposing the shady goings on of LGBT Youth Scotland charity in primary schools | Mumsnet

I know the Telegraph have already covered this and highlighted issues with the charity, but Wings over Scotland has done another exposé on the goings...

P20, "I've been clear that I need you to call me by my chosen name. If you are unable to do that right now, I will need to leave."

Where do they go? There’s plenty of middle aged parents bemoaning their adult kids, with jobs, are unable to leave the family home.

Where do these kids go? How do they support themselves? How is this even a realistic suggestion?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 25/08/2024 14:25

The thread that @INeedAPensieve linked is terrifying and appalling in equal measure. I know we've discussed this repeatedly on here but the reluctance of certain groups to tackle safeguarding, the habit of shouting bigot at those raising safeguarding concerns and the deliberate blurring of age appropriate boundaries (13 - 25 years fgs) does none of these organisations any favours. Especially if the group is gaslighting children that their developing bodies are flawed but a sex change will cure them.

If you fail to understand the vulnerability of teenagers and their specific age based needs then you can't safeguard them.

SpanielintheWorks · 25/08/2024 14:40

"Children! Here's how to blackmail your parents!"

StickItInTheFamilyAlbum · 25/08/2024 14:55

Excellent summary.

This is disturbing and distressing in equal measure. I recognise the many quagmires in which family friends are trapped at present. And, sadly, the scripts in which young people are coached to manipulate those around them to achieve the changes that their online family desires.

This is a new news story I'm posting below. The guide you're linking to in the OP is a far more recent one. Andrew Easton, recently convicted paedophile, authored one from several years back.

ArabellaScott · 25/08/2024 15:22

Given that the founder of LGBTYS, James Rennie, was one of the worst paedophiles in Scottish history, they are currently (as far as I'm aware) under investigation by Police Scotland after ex clients claim they were groomed and abused by staff, and now this new revelation, that a convicted paedophile authored their 'coming out guide' - this organisation needs shut down as a matter of urgency, but also an urgent investigation into all staff.

I worked in homeless shelters in London in the very late 80s and 90s and had gays kids coming in having told their parents and been bodily thrown out of their homes. And I saw what happened to them. Even with our care and support.

Unless there is abuse or serious neglect, home is better than a shelter. even them, sometimes. And the younger ones... children's home? Shit.

TheEyesOfLucyJordon · 25/08/2024 15:28

That is the biggest load of bullshit I've read.

Gender ideology, and what society sanctioned in its name, will be a national scandal in years to come. For those people supporting this bollocks, I will look for you, I WILL find you and I'll ram "I TOLD YOU SO" so far down your throat, you'll need it surgically removed! 😡

How can you do this to our vulnerable young people? How can you?

WarriorN · 25/08/2024 15:31

It's all horrifically divisive and coercive but P34 medical transition "thinking about your fertility wishes" - jfc.

13 year olds making 'choices' about long term fertility? they are highly likely to have not worked out their sexuality at this stage.

Choices? Framed as if as easy as choosing a hair cut ffs. Given the increasing negative outcomes associated with medical transition, this is child abuse in plain sight.

How the ever living fuck is this charity still going?

WarriorN · 25/08/2024 15:32

Highly un likely to have worked out their sexuality

I think they could have worked out their sexuality, I know I had. But thinking about fertility at 13!!! Ridiculous. Making the longest of long-term choices at an age before you should be thinking about it at all.

littlbrowndog · 25/08/2024 15:35

It’s Scotland isn’t it.

“ Cybercrime officers discovered 32 video files, many of which were of the most serious category A and featuring children aged between four and eight years old, had been distributed to other paedophiles by Easton.
Despite the sexual images Easton was sharing with others being of the highest category, Sheriff Morag McLaughlin failed to jail him.
Easton, of Kennethmont, Huntly, is subject to a community payback order with supervision for three years and was ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work. He will remain on the sex offenders register for three years.
Scottish Conservative MSP Meghan Gallacher said: “This is a deeply disturbing situation. It is long overdue that we audit just how much public money this organisation receives and seek assurances over what safeguarding assessments are in place.”.

3 years on sex offenders register and no jail time 😢😢😢

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/08/2024 15:36

Fuck.

Me too @MrsTerryPratchett but the description of the high desistance rate is often linked to still working through sexuality and gender stereotype issues linked to that.

WarriorN · 25/08/2024 15:40

As well as potential for autism.

And trauma. I worked with trauma impacted girls for a while and the room was half very sexualised and half dressed 'like boys'. Almost no boring MOR clothes.

So yet again, a convicted paedophile has used this "charity" to write guidance for 13 year olds about sexuality aimed at alienating them from their parents, while he's abusing a 13 year old boy? Do I have that right?

It's almost as if there has been voluntary amnesia about PIE and infiltration of groups to serve a personal or wider dubious agenda.

He didn't write the guide linked in the OP.

I can try and find a copy of the guide he contributed to, it's from about 2009 iirc.
