Is there a proper source for this?

It's from the PinkNewsStaff account on the Twix.
https://x.com/PinkNewsStaff

The account has been referred to before.

Wow, this is actually big news.

He is citing advertisers, and I'm assuming this is the reason, and not that he has had a wtf am I pushing here moment? (seems unlikely he's always come across as thick as mince and utterly contemptuous of women)

So he is saying advertisers are are no longer on board the Trans juggernaut, interesting, interesting...

timenowplease · 19/08/2024 17:34

I would say readership also. They must've lost a lot. That would affect ad revenue too.

CobwebCorner · 19/08/2024 17:38

Well well well! Even pink news has noticed that things are changing.

CorruptedCauldron · 19/08/2024 18:25

So they jumped on the trans rights bandwagon, not because their beliefs were sincere, but because it was a lucrative angle for a while.

Now that the advertisers are losing interest, it gets dropped like a hot potato. Meanwhile many good and decent people, mostly women, had their names dragged through the mud and were decried as hateful terfs thanks to Pink News’ pro-trans, anti-feminist rhetoric. What a slap in the face for all concerned that PN didn’t even care about trans rights in the first place!

Fickle five-minute fashionistas.

As the lovely James Dreyfus on X wrote in response to this: “Any way the wind blows, Doesn’t really matter…to meeee… …To-oo meeee….”

PronounssheRa · 19/08/2024 18:31

How will they fill their pages when they can't write eleventy billion stories a month (this may be an exaggeration) about JKR. They will need to sack half their writers!

CorvusPurpureus · 19/08/2024 18:36

I don't think they actually PAY their writers very much, soooo...

Chersfrozenface · 19/08/2024 18:40

Maybe they can publish eleventy billion stories a month about drag queens (who accept that they're men).

TheKeatingFive · 19/08/2024 18:45

Very interesting indeed. I am oddly heartened.

Omlettes · 19/08/2024 18:54

Given all the whistleblowing coming out about the way they treat their staff, this is of a piece with their lack of conviction and obvious exploitation.
When I think of all the hit pieces on JKR and other terfs I wish them nothing but financial collapse and complete ignomy, but only after they are sued by their employees ;)
Given the headlines in the G today about LGBTQ books being pulled from libraries, and Pink News going Volte face after years of agressive banner waving, it feels the ship is really finally beginning to sink

Me too, it feels like a crucial part of the tide going out.
Listening to him he his so craven its nauseating.
Feel sorry for any tra relying on them.

Igmum · 19/08/2024 19:18

Pink news does nothing but trans issues. I'm torn between feeling delighted that they've rediscovered the LGB clientele and wondering if this is a complaint by a TRA who is cheesed off that the editor refused to publish yet another trans story.

I bloody love James Dreyfus!
cant wait for the moment when all this is turned around and everyone is literally 'oh, I always supported James' and they get a hilarious caustic reply from him.

I love him too, he’s a wonderful ally to women. ❤️

Trouble down t'old clickbait factories. Lots of sites are drying up at the moment, especially the pop culture ones. Gone are the days when venture capitalists would shovel money towards anything online and vaguely zeitgeisty.

Admittedly PN's journalism never rose much above "gay man comes out as gay, because he's gay", but I suppose it's Ben Cohen's business and eventually even he has to see what a joke it's become.

I hardly think given their behaviour, treatment of staff and slanderous accusations they'd be doing LGB any favours whatsoever.
If I fronted anykind of LGB org, I'd denounce them and steer well clear.
JKR saw them off, I hope others will too.

The BBC cover all the drag queen stories.

I think the latter judging by some of their posts, which is the cherry on the cake.

Chersfrozenface · 19/08/2024 21:09

MagpiePi · 19/08/2024 20:56

The BBC cover all the drag queen stories.

Nothing to stop PN from covering the same ones. Would save on paying contributors.

And I'm sure there are plenty more out there, the UK seems awash with drag queens. They could trawl local and regional media. There's one who died in my city recently, apparently a legend of the regional drag scene - I see no obit in PN, which is obviously a crying shame.

Binglebong · 19/08/2024 21:19

What's been coming out about PN? They make my blood boil so generally avoid reading anything about them (but this title sounded more optimistic than most!)

highame · 20/08/2024 08:14

I imagine people like Andrew Doyle will be pleased to hear this. He has used his platform to let us all know how damaging the trans ideology has been to gay bi and lesbian people. I imagine Pink News finally gets it, but it has taken them an awful long time.

At some point, hopefully soon, there'll be an 'I told you so' award at the Oscars, BAFTAs etc. Can't bloody wait
