Imane Khelif

Just reading the thread on here for the first time. What I fail to understand is why so many contributors are so desperate for her to be a man. Someone who has lived their entire life as a woman. Beggars belief.

Imane Khelif was devastated to discover out of the blue that she might not be a girl:

I've talked often on here about a friend who is regularly abused for a being trans woman. Even though she has given birth to 3 children. But sure, women just know

I'm thinking of a word that rhymes with 'bank'.

NecessaryScene · 16/08/2024 19:46

Every baby's sex can correctly be identified. Doesn't mean it always is. Hence the term "assigned at birth" to distinguish that from the actual sex, for DSD individuals.

It's TRAs who appropriate the term and attempted to conflate it with actual sex, as if actual sex was "assigned".

WickedSerious · 16/08/2024 19:49

suggestionsplease1 · 16/08/2024 19:43

To be honest this is a completely fair appraisal from @JusteanBiscuits

FWR went on and on and on about how ridiculous it was to say "sex assigned at birth" and that every baby's sex can correctly be identified and that was fundamental and not in question.

The hypocrisy is really showing now.

I particularly enjoyed the bit about the Kremlin.

O yeah thanks for pointing that out where the IBA speaker spoke about the 'sodomite' at the IOC, what a great moment that was, eh.

What lovely figures you call on for evidence.

Ah the old 'guilt by association' trick.

Y'know we are quite familiar with all these propaganda tricks to bully us into submission and try and force us to forget that THIS IS THE SAFETY AND INTERGRITY of women's sports at hand and this isn't something we can 'just be nice about' and yep even unpleasant people can have a point sometimes even if we happen to agree they are tossers.

Yeah I think you can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep, personally.

NecessaryScene · 16/08/2024 20:06

While apparently it's impossible to test for sex.

Ah yes. Ok.

Rolls eyes.

So you keep company with far left activists including terrorists. What can we learn from this?

That's right. Fuck all.

Because it a fucking stupid argument that hold precisely nothing.

If you want to take the word of a person who can't even agree with his team whether they tested the chromosomes or testosterones of a person, has overseen match fixing at previous Olympics, and who is happy to call other people sodomites that's up to you.

It would be so very easy for anyone to prove that his "word" was false if it was. But if all that can be mustered is name-calling, then I see no reason to distrust it

Wouldn't you want to prove such an evil person wrong? If you could, and you won't, then you're basically an accomplice to all that evil...

You're basically Putin's puppet at this point, letting his "word" stand unchallenged.

Which aspects of corruption and match fixing do you find compatible with honesty and integrity, out of interest?

NecessaryScene · 16/08/2024 20:22

None of it. But we're not calling on the IOC to rely on their results.

We'd very much like the IOC to order their own tests, as they claim to be running the boxing, and they claim the IBA to not be honest.

Surely you want the IOC to order tests too, given that you think the IBA's can't be trusted?

Do you really want the IBA's "untrustworthy" tests to be the only ones available?

I get the impression you do, and that would reflect very badly on you.

MarieDeGournay · 16/08/2024 20:26

This isn't all about the Evil IBA, you know. I for one will never forgive them for what they did to poor old Michael Conlon at the Rio Olympics, so I wouldn't waste any breath defending the IBA, believe me.

So let's leave the IBA as a corrupt, match-fixing, Russian-financed organisation to one side, and focus on everything else that leads us to believe that Khelif and Lin are not biological females, and therefore should not be eligible to box against biological females.

The discussion has gone way beyond the dodginess of the IBA as an organisation.

"her morphotype is rather peculiar" is a masterstroke in understatement.

NecessaryScene · 16/08/2024 20:31

All that matters is the IOC's refusal to have any sort of enforcement of female categories, such that males can freely enter (with appropriate paperwork).

Everything else is just flim-flam to distract from this policy.

The IOC can do its own tests any time it likes, whether no-one else has already done them, Good People have already done them, or Bad People already done them.

If they refuse to accept tests from Bad people, then they have the responsibility of finding Good people to do them. Not just ranting about how Bad the Bad people are.

Where's your fucking sex testing, IOC? Do your own fucking job if you want to run a competition.

PatatiPatatras · 16/08/2024 20:35

So many words instead of just taking the test.

I think you'd have to gain agreement on a suitable test and then all athletes would have to participate in this, rather than the arbitrary and targeted nature of the IBA tests.

I don't disagree in principle with that at all.

People have been libelling Imane as a cheat, I think that's entirely unfair as from what I can see she has acted entirely in line with the regulations for this competition.

I don't think thats good enough frankly.

Khelif knows there is doubt about their sex. Khelif knows that there is sensitivity about this because men beating up women is utterly sickening to decent people.

Khelif has the opportunity to put this to bed by releasing their test results or taking another test. Yet they refuse to to take this simple step.

There are women who have never had a question over there sex beat other women to a pulp in the boxing ring...what do you think of that?

From what I can see of the analysis of Imane's technique (someone posted links to analysis of her style on forums earlier on this thread) she is is not a particularly heavy hitter in her weight class.

I think that female boxers have not consented to being beaten up by men. You think this is okay? Seriously?

spannasaurus · 16/08/2024 20:59

You don't need great technique when your punching strength is 2.5 times that of your opponent

Fuck the regulations of the competition. That is exactly the point in question. The incompetent/corrupt/ideologically captured IOC have arranged it so men were allowed to take part in the women's competition. That is fundamentally wrong and I could give a fig if the rules allowed it. Take the sex test. They won't and we all know why.

suggestionsplease1 · 16/08/2024 21:07

If you are worried about women being beaten up you need to stop women's boxing altogether.

If you want to look at sex category you need to introduce a test that everyone undertakes prior to competition, not on an arbitrary and targeted basis.
