New case on crowd justice - Public servant sued for saying sex is binary

OP posts:

For the People Survey there is a breakdown of about 15 categories of bullying (and possibly harassment) but results aren't shared unless there's enough respondents in the category. Handy.

Bumping this as more digging required to help reach stretch target ☺️

Thanks @Tallisker good idea 💡

Above post was deleted because it has a link to Andreas's crowdfunder. He has updated to say that his case is settled. However the one "Chair of SEEN sued for saying 'only women menstruate' that was lumped in with it is going ahead. Make it make sense.

Kirschcherries · 13/04/2026 19:07

If you google Andreas Mueller CrowdJustice there is a full update. A good outcome but again the process (2 years) is the punishment.

anyolddinosaur · 15/04/2026 10:37

I assume whoever was backing the complainant financially didnt like the risk that the court would have ordered him to pay costs - and since 2 claims were thrown out at an earlier stage that seems quite likely.

I hope he won't mind me reproducing part of his update:

After nearly two years, my employment tribunal has reached a conclusion. The claimant — granted anonymity and referred to as PQ, a trans-identifying male — requested to settle. I believe this is because PQ and his lawyers were finally compelled to accept what I have known throughout: the case against me was unwinnable. I had never harassed him as he claimed. The case was settled on the 20th March 2026, and the claimant has informed the employment tribunal of the withdrawal of his claim.....
....I was pursued because I expressed my protected belief that sex is binary, immutable, and sometimes matters — even in the workplace — and because I helped found the Sex Equality and Equity Network (SEEN) in Defra Group. The case began in April 2024. It was unjust, from start to finish.
As part of the settlement, PQ requested confidentiality and a non-disparagement clause. I refused both conditions outright. Accepting them would have prevented me from speaking freely and accurately about what I have been through — silencing me in the very way this case sought to silence me from the start. That would have compounded the injustice, not resolved it. You donated so that I could fight. Part of that fight is being able to tell the truth about it. Click here to download a redacted copy of the settlement agreement agreement (the COT3).

Throughout this process I received absolutely no support from my employer, my trade union, or my legal expenses insurance. The toll on my family has been real and I will not pretend otherwise. But now it’s over. This malicious attempt to ‘punish’ me for saying what most of us know has comprehensively failed, and that is a big relief.

FranticFrankie · 15/04/2026 11:07

What a world when someone is sued for stating a biological fact! I know this isn't new but good grief. Wonder what the grounds were for granting PQ anonymity?

Two years of stress for this man and his family- he must be so relieved.

And how typical that he received no support from either his union or legal expenses insurance. Disgraceful

Congrats, Mr Mueller

turquoiseshell · 15/04/2026 11:32

So if he didn't agree to a confidentiality clause, what is the name of the claimant?

Tallisker · 15/04/2026 11:41

I think the name will come out in due course. I don’t know how this claimant was granted anonymity when the linked case claimant, Samantha Tempest, wasn’t.

BipityBap · 15/04/2026 11:54

Why does the claimant want to be anonymous? Presumably it's a badly kept secret in those circles anyway?

More to the point they should have had the courage of their convictions right from the outset especially since they were dragging other named people through the mire.

Indeed. Well done to Andreas but in a decent society he shouldn't have been put through two years of hell and treated like shit by Union, employer etc for stating a very basic fact, and a fact that anyone working for Defra needs to know is true - sex is binary in all mammals.

Sorry for not being clear, I meant PQ; i would have thought that their identity was well known (obviously not to ignoramuses like me).

Personally I'd want to know who PQ was if I were a colleague but that's besides the point.

anyolddinosaur · 15/04/2026 13:42

The courts do not like anonymity. When they grant it the view of the court should be respected.

I have no doubt everyone working with the complainant is well aware but we shouldnt speculate.

SexRealistic · 15/04/2026 17:44

Well done Mr Mueller - perhaps you can use some of the crowd funder to sue your insurer or the Union for failing to support you when you clearly had a totally winnable case.

The trans individual cottoned on to the fact that facts are facts and the Courts are alert to them.

A settlement of not pursing the trans claimant for costs v waiver of any claims is a good outcome.

So sorry for the two years of stress. Keep speaking out!

anyolddinosaur · 15/04/2026 20:03

If the crowdfunding money has not all been spent getting to this stage I imagine it will be donated to help the linked case that is continuing to court.
