New case on crowd justice - Public servant sued for saying sex is binary

OP posts:
SqueakyDinosaur · 11/08/2024 23:07

I find it uncharacteristically hard to put into words just how much I despise these bullying, narcissistic claimants.

I might have to go and read Jo Bartosch on the non-binary dachshund again to calm down. thecritic.co.uk/the-curious-incident-of-the-dog-and-the-tribunal/

zibzibara · 11/08/2024 23:09

Is there any detail on these cases on who the claimant is? Wondering if it's a known troublemaker.

YellowAsteroid · 11/08/2024 23:27

Oh god this brings back a kind of ptsd for me. The letter arriving, the accusation out of the blue, when all you’re doing is doing your job well and holding rational, scientific beliefs which are legal and not hate speech under the law.

So much for “bringing your whole self to work.”

Off to do some gardening.

YellowAsteroid · 11/08/2024 23:28

Long overdue for them to be compelled to follow the Nolan Principles of Public Life to the letter if they want to work for state organisations.

Absolutely.

I’ve gardened, and I’m tagging in posters from the SEEN thread who mentioned they saw the Yammer threads, because Andreas seems to be being sued at least partly because of what he said on them.

I've named changed for this (I hope it's worked) but I saw the yammer threads and Andreas does not deserve this. He is a principled, decent human being so please, if you can, donate to help him fight the vexatious claims (and they are vexatious).

Blimey, you must be new round here. Anytime someone needs top class legal help to banish the Trans bollocks (which dont come cheap) rather than appeal directly for funds to a crowd funder in support, the recognised term is "gardening". Why? never been sure myself but suspect it attracts the ire of mumsnet towers.

A while back, there was a certain MNHQ staffer (now gone?) who mentioned that they would not always tolerate talk of 'carrots', 'seeds', or gardening…

It's one of the reasons that Aston web scraping is so odd. We've been constrained into various codes for years and you need to have interacted for some time to understand them, which is not what web scraping technology does.

yesmen · 12/08/2024 09:30

They sue - not to win but to experiment with case law and get things in the books.

That’s how much money they have.

I think all the language needs to change.

GC beliefs are really scientific facts.

A trans woman is really a Trans identifying man. Ditto - Trans man.

Trans Rights are all ready in situ - they are looking for extra - we need the words for that. Someone smart will come up with it!

And so on.

Corporate needs to get out of all of this.

Kamala Harris, while good for world peace, will be terrible for American women.

I agree. I can't imagine it going very far (from what I've seen all comments are polite and fair) but what a total waste of time for all involved. Never mind the total disregard for anyone but the claimant's mental health.

anyolddinosaur · 12/08/2024 09:45

People need to start raising grievances for those who put them through this sort of thing. It is bullying behaviour and when the case is thrown out it will be time to fight back. Will be getting the seeds out again.

This. All these court cases that are won demonstrate the viciousness with which trans extremists attack others - especially women. It's long overdue for some of them to face the consequences of their harmful behaviour.

Garden growing nicely 4,995 seeds planted.

SEENqueen · 12/08/2024 10:19

In both of these cases, the employer isn't supporting them, which I think is shocking. I made a complaint when all this started about some of the vitriol aimed at SEEN members, but my complaint was dismissed. It was investigated by a she/her, so of course it wasn't upheld. It's an uphill battle for both Andreas and Elspeth.

StickItInTheFamilyAlbum · 12/08/2024 10:45

I'll be paid next week so can contribute then.

Maybe we need a MN Fivver equivalent where we can perform some tasks for money that is diverted to a fighting fund. (I know, it can't happen because it would need committees and excellent governance but I can dream.)

oldwhyno · 12/08/2024 10:47

this genuinely makes me feel sick to the pit of my stomach.

Snowypeaks · 12/08/2024 11:00

anyolddinosaur

I couldn't agree more.

Additionally I think that any lawyer who takes on a case which tries to assert the right of someone to stop another person acting lawfully should be disciplined. If there are no extraordinary facts, no prima facie evidence of harassment (an assertion of how they felt is not evidence, IMO) and only words are involved, they should not be allowed to collude in wasting the court's time and public money.

What is the difference between this action and an action which demands nobody be allowed to say that God does not exist? And seeking remedies such as enforced prayer or signing off meetings with "God be with you"?
Or someone bringing an action against a woman who said no to sex, because it made the man feel bad?

Yes, you can argue and make a case for anything in court. But this point has been litigated. No new law has been passed. It's just an outrageous waste of time, money and resources and a cruel burden on the respondents. The claimants should at least have to prove that there is some new point of law involved which makes it different from all the other preceding cases, before the respondents even have to lawyer up.

Tallisker · 12/08/2024 11:02

Iamnotalemming · 12/08/2024 13:42

Bloody hell not again. Off with my seeds and trowel I go ...

fromorbit · 12/08/2024 14:35

7,387 seeds now.

Our gardens are the best.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 12/08/2024 14:48

This is enraging:
"It is unclear how many people would need to be dragged through the courts before anyone in the Civil Service or the trade unions will do anything substantial to help"

Senior management in the Civil Service is unable to issue any reminders / directives to staff about free speech and staff complying with the laws of the land?

Every time a useful idiot scolds women on here for highlighting the extreme levels of trans capture in the civil service and elsewhere, point them in the direction of these cases.
I know the press have been reporting on these cases - hopefully they'll pick this one up.

Yes, also the deviation into recipes on a FWR thread makes me smile but I’ve not seen that for a while
