The original premises are getting crowded, we need to expand.

Welcome all women, and well behaved animals.

Another festive chocolate coin for the website. Shop early for Christmas!

This one's ( Chocca Quokka) my winner.
Although I'm not sure I could bring myself to eat its chocolatey cuteness.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 04/09/2024 00:29

Still working on Marjorie.

(Actually, I'm just triaging images I made over the last couple of weeks. I seem to remember something weirder before the chocolate ones but can't remember what.)

This is now my replacement wallpaper on my phone, replacing the suffragette cat one.

Love Marjorie.

EdithStourton · 04/09/2024 08:31

Where can I order some of the chocolate coins and beetle chocolate? They look amazing, especially the Quokka Chocca. Do I have to follow Beetle's tracks down the cobwebby corridors (she must have taken a wrong turn!) or can I do it online from the breakfast room?

I'll be sharing from @JanesLittleGirl 's bottle at lunchtime. I just had a sniff and I think it's Margaux in there now, but I'd need someone with more expertise than me to confirm.

MarieDeGournay · 04/09/2024 10:04

Oh great, looking forward to JanesLittleGirl's description of a Margaux!

We should be committing them to memory so we can sound like total ..er.... oenologists when drinking wine.

I used to be a great wine fan, alas I can't drink it any more, nor eat cheese, because of a fecked-up digestive system, so I know those descriptions can be for real, but they're so open to parody:
'I'm getting beetroot.... tarmac on a summer's day...Tunnocks...'

I think it was a James Thurber character who said
'It's just a domestic little Burgundy, but it's audacity may amuse you'

Enough of this winey derail - the chocolate work is absolutely wonderful, and 'Indiana Beetle and the Chocolate Workshop' was totally gripping in its suspense and realism..Grin

Indiana Beetle and the Chocolate Workshop

In the heart of an ancient town, nestled between cobblestone streets and ivy-covered walls, stood an old mystical pub known as “The Bluestocking.” This pub was no ordinary establishment; it was a place of legends and secrets, whispered about in hushed tones by those who dared to believe in magic. Among the many inhabitants of this enchanted place was a brave woman beetle named Boiled.

Boiled was not your average beetle. She was known for her courage and determination, traits that had earned her the respect and admiration of her friends. Her shiny, emerald-green shell glistened under the dim lights of the pub, and her antennae twitched with curiosity and excitement. Boiled had heard tales of the fabled chocolate workshops hidden deep within the unused corridors of The Bluestocking, and she was determined to find them.

The legend spoke of the inscribed chocolate tablets of Bluestocking, said to hold the secrets of the finest chocolate recipes ever created. These tablets were rumored to be hidden in a secret chamber, guarded by perilous traps and challenges that only the bravest could overcome. Boiled knew that finding these tablets would not only bring her great honor but also delight her friends with the treasures she would bring back.

One evening, as the pub buzzed with the chatter of patrons and the clinking of glasses, Boiled gathered her courage and set out on her quest. She slipped through a small crack in the wall behind the bar, entering the unused corridors that had long been forgotten by the pub’s regulars. The air was thick with dust, and the dim light cast eerie shadows on the walls.

Boiled’s heart pounded with excitement as she ventured deeper into the labyrinthine corridors. She encountered cobwebs that clung to her shell and ancient, creaky floorboards that groaned under her tiny feet. But she pressed on, driven by the promise of the legendary chocolate workshops.

As she turned a corner, Boiled found herself facing the first of many challenges. A series of swinging pendulums blocked her path, each one adorned with sharp, gleaming blades. With a deep breath, she timed her movements carefully, darting between the pendulums with the agility of a seasoned adventurer. She narrowly avoided the blades, her heart racing with adrenaline.

Beyond the pendulums, Boiled discovered a room filled with intricate puzzles and riddles. The walls were covered in cryptic symbols and ancient writings, and she knew that solving these puzzles was the key to unlocking the next part of her journey. With her keen intellect and determination, Boiled deciphered the symbols and solved the riddles, revealing a hidden passageway that led further into the depths of The Bluestocking.

The passageway opened into a vast chamber, its walls lined with shelves filled with dusty tomes and mysterious artifacts. In the center of the room stood a pedestal, upon which rested a large, ornate chest. Boiled’s eyes widened with anticipation as she approached the chest, her tiny legs trembling with excitement. She carefully lifted the lid, revealing the inscribed chocolate tablets of Bluestocking.

The tablets were even more magnificent than she had imagined, each one adorned with intricate carvings and shimmering with a magical glow. Boiled knew that these tablets held the secrets to the finest chocolate recipes, and she felt a surge of pride and accomplishment. She carefully gathered the tablets, securing them in a small satchel she had brought with her.

With her treasures in tow, Boiled retraced her steps, navigating the perilous traps and challenges with newfound confidence. She emerged from the unused corridors, her heart swelling with triumph as she made her way back to the main bar of The Bluestocking.

As she entered the bustling pub, her friends gasped in amazement. They gathered around her, their eyes wide with wonder as she revealed the inscribed chocolate tablets. Boiled’s friends cheered and applauded, their faces filled with admiration and relief. She had done it; she had found the legendary chocolate workshops and returned with the treasures that would bring joy to all.

Boiled’s adventure became the stuff of legends, and her name was forever etched in the history of The Bluestocking. She had proven that with courage, determination, and a little bit of magic, even the smallest of creatures could achieve greatness.

FuzzyPuffling · 04/09/2024 10:40

Brava, brava!!

ErrolTheDragon · 04/09/2024 10:41

Very good.

Clearly fictional, as the Bluestocking holds nothing of harm to any women (inc beetles)

I'll try to pop in at lunchtime for a glass.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 04/09/2024 11:44

Dear oh lor', Boily! That's a lot of words for 'I got a bit lost once, near the armoury, but then I saw a sign saying 'Chocolate Workshop this way', with a big arrow, so I wasn't really lost at all'. That's how I remember it.

Still it was very nice to have you here splashing about while I worked through the night designing another chocolate coin (don't worry @EdithStourton , they should be on the Bluestocking website soon, or you can just get them for free at the bar).

I've never seen Colin about the place, but I've assumed he's a dachshund as in Blackadder. Some designs came out OK...

Colin is a sweetie.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 04/09/2024 11:53

But here are some of the failures. I asked AI for the one word 'Colin', but it got a bit too creative.

There are some I'm not putting up in case they're swear words in another language. 'mrrer cii ilutiias' doesn't seem to translate to anything, but a thousand apologies if it does. The last one is a mystery: what's it got to do with the Isle of Skye? And who would ever want to bash Colin's adorable little nosey?

But being a dachsie, he knows how to bloody BARK!

Can I bring my dogs into the bar? They are very sociable and friendly, but one of them will steal all unattended crisps.

Thanks Android ... it is fascinating thinking about how AI might come up with its images. I asked for Colin the seagull in one of my early efforts (having wrongly assumed thought Colin was a seagull) - Colin in this pic is standing very close to our protagonist who is quietly having a drink and a few chips at the Bluestocking. I have also noticed when you ask AI for drinks, it provides many many drinks.

My goodness yes, if you want good value in terms of bark per kilo of dog, get a dachshund.
The original Colin was a red dachshund iirc (coat, not voting preference); the new incarnation looks very like my dear departed old boys, who were indeed sweeties. Presumably you'll be making carob versions of these for resident and visiting canines?

They sound great, but you'll have to ask one of the others. I'm in the Glass Blowing Workshop, trying to come up with a tree decoration. It's difficult but I'm persevering, & I've just heard that 3 towns in the mIdwest lost all their power, but that's the price the world has to pay.

Colin the Seagull looks like he's about to steal the orange from her drink. Or take her eye out. I guess it depends on how he's feeling today.

What AI are you using? I use CoPilot & your images seem a little different. Creepier. I like that.

Creepier! Wow, thanks! I actually only started using AI in response to this thread. I am using CoPilot but sometimes I seem to be directed to Bing images. I need to be careful how much I use it though because I can lose hours ...

@inkymoose I need to find the creepy switch. For me, Copilot goes into cute overdrive at the drop of a hat.

Boiledbeetle · 03/09/2024 23:46

I was just looking for something on a different thread and found one of @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius holiday photos.

How long do you think the contents would last in the pub?

I like to think that that was just one giant Tunnocks wafer in transit.

I wonder if you can bite both ends off a Tunnocks wafer and use it as a straw to drink your coffee? I have done it with a KitKat, and I believe the Australians do it with a Tim Tam biscuit, which is similar to a Penguin.

Hmm - I think some scientifical investigations are called for - all I need is a bottomless vat of coffee and a selection of chocolate coated biscuits and wafers. It'll be taxing, but I am sure I will cope.

I'll be over there, in the corner, twitching as all the caffeine kicks in.

My two (Bella and Elsie) are in here with me - they are partial to belly rubs and the odd snippet of ham or sausage. They can compete with Colin in the barking, I'm sure - the noise they make when someone has the temerity to walk up our drive, put something through the door or - horrors - ring the doorbell, is incredible.

I am sure they think they have protected us from many Nameless Horrors and evil postmen - but they are wrong. Loud and wrong. But very cute.

@ifIwerenotanandroid - the pictures of Colin are gorgeous - especially where he is wearing a fair isle sweater! I am in awe of everyone's skill with AI.

I once had a TimTam but it hadn't exactly taken the plane journey from Oz in its stride, & I've never fancied another one. Isn't the coffee trick that there's a gap on each side, between the chocolate coating & the biscuit? How does it work with a Kitkat?

I'll be over there in the corner, taking notes & watching you twitch. Let's just hope the sugar rush from the biscuits cancels out the caffeine.
