I love her. When she started out she had to spar with male boxers. She has seen the women’s category of her beloved sport grow and thrive and become a big deal in a really short space of time - and now it’s under serious threat of imploding altogether.

Therapeutic Use Exemption.

Athletes can apply for these for substances that are required to treat a medical condition but could cause them to fall foul of WADA.

eg salbutamol for asthma if the daily dose exceeds a certain amount.

I think one of the reasons social media is kicking off so much about this and saying it's a woman is because people are now just learning about DSDs.

We've talked a lot about them on here, so even people with zero background know a lot about it, And we were all brought up speed PDQ about Caster Semenya.

And, of course, there are plenty of people out there who like to pontificate to put women down.

I can honestly use it as a bit of a benchmark these days. It can really show people up. Not just ignorance, no one can really help that. But the absolute conviction that they're right.

Someone said this the other day and I have to agree - I never imagined I’d became so well-versed in the intricacies of DSDs but - there we are.

It also, however, proves that the average woman (and man) in the street is perfectly well able to take on board this information. It requires some concentration and thinking about but it’s not difficult. So the muddying of the waters on various outlets - and, of course, by the IOC - is very obviously deliberate.
