Just seen the email saying there will be a delay in emailing out the outcome to supporters, so to check Twitter / X first.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 22/07/2024 22:57

Judgement due on Wed. Crossed fingers all round.

LipbalmOrKnickers · 22/07/2024 23:36

Just found listing - 10:30 on Wed.

SinnerBoy · 23/07/2024 02:12

I'm still rather astonished that GCC were taking advice, when they're lawyers themselves and deciding that they could assume American practice here. I'm surprised that anyone would use them!

Right before PMQs then

I had my doubts about this when Allison appealed. Thought she should maybe quit whilst she was ahead and focus on her health and putting her life back together.

But it is so obvious that a national charity founded on advancing the rights of gay people was actively working behind the scenes to have a black lesbian barrister removed from her chambers. That is utterly scandalous. I don't know enough about the law to understand what her chances are. But there is no doubt in my mind that SW colluded with her chambers. I wish I had a ounce of her strength and courage

nauticant · 23/07/2024 07:36

I had similar thoughts too GenderBlender but I missed the fact that it would be some time down the line and there might be a more receptive audience, and, particularly, more interest in the influence of Stonewall.

Camilley · 23/07/2024 08:18

Is the decision on Wednesday a win against Stonewall, or is it that she has permission to take Stonewall to court at some point in the future?

GenderBlender · 23/07/2024 09:14

My understanding is that it will be a judgement, that Stonewall did or did not collude in trying to get her sacked.

Good point. I guess even a lawyer might want to get advice on how to implement the law, best practice etc from an “expert”. But what they did was way beyond that and they allowed themselves to be led into extreme, activist territory. It just shows how powerful, widespread and influential SW managed to make themselves, with apparent ease.

Waitwhat23 · 23/07/2024 14:13

And Stonewall's entire defence seemed to be 'well, you're the ones who were stupid enough to take our advice!' which doesn't say much for either Stonewall or GCC.

I would love to know the opinion of GCC from other law firms.

PepeParapluie · 23/07/2024 21:22

Lawyers and law firms still take legal advice from other firms in some circumstances, e.g if it’s outside of their specialism or perhaps cynically, so that someone else’s professional indemnity insurance is available if they are wrongly advised!

Also GCC will most likely have had solicitors preparing the case for them. Barristers (like GCC) do the advocacy in cases, they don’t normally do all of the preparatory work of bundles, statements, the case management timetables etc.

edit to add - sorry I meant to say @SinnerBoy

RocketPanda · 24/07/2024 07:48

Fingers crossed 🤞

Ah the bundles. Anyone else feeling nostalgic for badly prepared bundles?

highame · 24/07/2024 08:02

Good Luck Allison B

Iwishihadariver · 24/07/2024 08:06

Oh God, don't use the summoning spell!

PepeParapluie · 24/07/2024 09:28

😂 I thought the mention of bundles might get a reaction!

Very much hoping for a good result for Allison 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Bundlejuice · 24/07/2024 09:33

Mwa haha.
