Fantsatstic news, Christina Dalcher has sucessfully managed to get this TRA fired from their job at Waterstones for X comment.

I, briefly, felt sorry for here for losing her job. Now I still feel sorry for her because of the utter blindness she has to her own bigotry. All the evidenceless accusations she that makes, she is guilty of. Every single one.

I'm so tired of this. The lies, slander, hyperbole of the tras. Ffs I wish they'd wake up, open their eyes and see themselves.

I don't think it's actually about the issue tbh.

If a labour supporting employee tweeted that they were going to go into work, and rip up and throw away that new Boris Johnson book that's out later this year, or if a Tory supporting employee said it about the Keir Starmer biography, I would think that was an equally stupid thing to tweet, and I'd expect Waterstones to take a similarly dim view of it.

@Lovenothate gender critical does not equate transphobic. I think trans people should be accepted for who they are, I think they should be entitled to the same rights as males and females. I also believe you cannot change your biological sex and that accepting a trans person is not the opposite sex does not mean you deny they exist. It means you accept they’re a trans person and should be entitled to their own spaces, their own sports, their own hospital wards.

This is mine, and pretty much every GC person I know's position but do you know what, I'm done explaining this to posters like @Lovenothate, and all the others who plop down a 'you're all hateful transphobes' with no back up, no receipts, no reasoning or valid argument.

If they don't have the intelligence or capacity to get that this position of wanting sex based spaces and sports doesn't equate to being transphobic then a) that's a them problem and b) I pity them and how they get through life. Truly. One JKR obsessed poster the other day when I asked if they had read ANY of JKR's essays and they said 'no, I don't have to'. I mean just fuck off.

Surely Waterstones hasn't come out as GC? Simply as a company that upholds a social media policy for their employees and will take appropriate action towards those who breach said policy?

I'd imagine someone at Waterstones has finally looked at sales figures and which books sell and have been wondering why they're not getting a bigger slice of that pie. It wouldn't take long on twitter to have a very good idea, it's a good place to start to weekend out those who are costing you money. I've seen a number of tweets by various Waterstones staff and we've all seen evidence of books being hidden. This seems to be changing, they are a business after all 🤷‍♀️

I couldn't work out what had happened from the OP, so I clicked through onto Tilly's post. My phone started (silently, thank goodness) playing her weepy poor-me video. I mean... Who does that? I feel like I don't need to know anything more about this woman. When did it become normal to film yourself making a weepy sad-face speech and broadcast it to the world? She looks to be a grown adult... How does she go about life, thinking that is a normal way to carry on?

Yes, I wouldn't say Waterstones is GC. From what I can see, they fired an employee for making public statements that she intended to rip up books and otherwise make it difficult for readers to buy certain authors because she didn't like the authors' views.

As others have said, I'd expect Waterstones to sack her if it were the other way around too (e.g. if she were GC and claiming to rip up trans authors books).

It's only really remarkable because trans activists have been getting away with this kind of behaviour for so long that they don't even see what's wrong with it.

Watersones aren’t coming out as anything. They are just firing their employee who plans to destroy their merchandise. Considering how many political biographies they sell, I imagine they don’t really want their staff to go on an ideological book destroying rampage.
