How many votes did they get in the areas they stood? BBC isn’t giving a breakdown of results.

How many voted do you have to get to reclaim your deposit?

You don’t understand why a bunch of local people not wanting to vote for mainstream parties might vote for the local pub?

Yeah fair point I suppose, Im just surprised she didn’t manage to pick up many of that type of voter - not wanting to vote mainstream.

chilling19 · 05/07/2024 13:15

I think it is a good start.

ihavebecomecomfortablynumb · 05/07/2024 13:16

Doncaster North 452 votes.

Not being local would be a big hinderence.

I think kjk did very badly because she causes so many fights. It turns out I was wrong earlier, I had only looked at a few candidates and they had awful numbers but some of the POW candidates did ok. But KJK’s numbers were terrible. The POW is a great idea ruined by an egomaniac. If someone like Helen Joyce had done this it would have been a huge success

What was the aim of this party being formed and standing?
If it was to highlight an issue, unfortunately, I think it's backfired, it looks like nobody cared, or worse, take the opposite view. I suspect PoW is nothing more than a vanity project for KLK.
Do we know who's funding them? It's not cheap to stand and I don't think they got any of their deposits back.

Do we know who's funding them?
It's dreadful, Mr Dodd. Women up and down the country have disposable incomes that they're free to spend as they wish!

I think for a new party POW did incredibly well standing 16 candidates and I hope mumsnetters join POW as members.

Regarding the number of votes KJK got I think local people always dislike someone being "parachuted in" and although she hoped it would be good for publicity I think for politics she needs to represent her own constituency, I'm sure she's very popular there. She needs to build up her local vote which I bet she could do.

That's a good point. I think the other candidates all stood in their own constituencies, and most of them got more votes than she did.

Have you heard of crowdfunding?

Total disaster for KJK, 196 votes. I guess that’s what happens when you fight with everyone and then moan all the time that nobody will talk to you. Such a massive lost opportunity, had kjk not been so divisive, loads of people would have voted for her. Party of Women was a great idea that has been lost as a result of an out of control ego. Presumably all attention will turn to the Northumbria police matter so that KJK can pretend this hasn’t happened.

It wasn’t a total disaster. It’s about raising awareness. They will not water down their stance to appease the people pleasers - not sorry that others you

While you are of course, with your goady name change, completely impartial.

Christinapple · 05/07/2024 14:04

KJK, Party of Women, received less votes than independent trans woman Sophie Molly.

So how did the party of women do?

Yep @Ereshkigalangcleg I’m a straight talker just like your queen KJK. I care too much about this issue to see it being ruined by egomaniacs

I think Labour will be awful

Bloom15 · 05/07/2024 14:40

KJK is a very divisive figure - I am GC and not a fan of her personally.

Hoosemover · 05/07/2024 12:01

How can we make PoW more effective? Is anyone here a member of the party?

If they can stop using transphobic slurs e.g. tr--n would be a good start.

KJK used to live in Bristol Central and her kids went to school here. I don't think she lives here any more but she would certainly still have a lot of personal contacts. I wonder how many of the 196 votes were from people she knew?

Well … that’s the thing isn’t it? They won’t be dictated to on what language they can use.

And why should they? Everyone gets offended at everything these days.

The word you’re referring to is actually a mix of trans & goon. I call my brothers a goon all the time

How do you think Farage would do if he started using the N word on twitter then said he "won't be dictated on what language to use"?

Hairyesterdaygonetoday · 05/07/2024 15:13

It’s far from being a “disaster” for KJK. She got a bunch of volunteers together at very short notice and they gained more votes than probably expected.

We need all the strong and determined women we can get. I’ve got no time for infighting.

Yes it's a disaster for her, and must be embarrassing too to be a dominantly anti-trans Party and receive fewer votes than an independent trans woman, or a joke party who call themselves The Loony Monster Ravings or whatever they are.

Maybe it's a reassuring sign that Britain isn't "TERF Island" after all, and there aren't as many people with strong gender critical views as thought. And also good to see using transphobic slurs doesn't bring the votes in.

I see Jo Cherry is gone too.

RadicalisedPastThePointOfSalvation · 05/07/2024 15:24

If it was that easy to get a single issue party funded and seats gained it would happen a lot more. It’s bloody difficult in a two party system. No-one expected PoW to win any seats, it’s as much to raise awareness and show politicians that women care enough about this issue to put themselves forward for election and spend time knocking on doors and speaking to people. The women also knew they may receive abuse or people reporting them to their workplaces. Personally I think that takes guts.

I think originally the plan that money would be raised so no individual woman had to find the money for their deposit. I don’t know if that happened or not.
