Oh and I think of Dee as a really feminine name.

Though actually there are men called Dee too, but it's not what I'd choose if I didn't feel like a girl.

I enjoy this type of article. In particular, I enjoy the thought of it being found by Dee's friends and family when Dee has moved on from finding Deeselfs belly button so fascinating and them laughing their heads off at Dee's public self humiliation. Especially if Dee, by then, needs to be taken seriously. Karma.

underheard and underrepresented voices in the media

I work in a media/arts area and honestly if you're not "underrepresented" or "underheard" you're nobody. I know I sound all "political correctness gorn mad" but seriously. I get various newsletters and updates with details of jobs, grants, scholarships, residencies, awards, competitions etc all the time. 90% of them, and I'm not exaggerating, I couldn't apply for or enter because I'm not a POC, disabled, working class (well I kind of am originally but I'd look daft claiming that) LGBTQIA+++ / "queer" and so on. And could anyone gain access to "underrepresented" status by simply saying they're NB? Why, surely not.

This is who I picture for the name Dee

Emdubz70 · 04/07/2024 14:33

Surely White Dee is the most famous Dee of all?

I’m scared about what will happen when I go to vote
CocoapuffPuff · 04/07/2024 14:34

The Dee is a beautiful river in Scotland. Seriously gorgeous. It does not have pink hair and a nostril ring.

CriticalCondition · 04/07/2024 14:35

What about Dee Dee of Pan's People?

I’m scared about what will happen when I go to vote

Never heard of her

mrshoho · 04/07/2024 14:41

The Dee I know is a Deirdre. And Deirdre always make me think of Deirdre Barlow from Corrie. So not giving me NB vibes I'm afraid Dee.

StopTheWorld1WantToGetOff · 04/07/2024 14:42

So....Dee is not a woman because Dee doesn't like fake tan, long hair and short skirts. Ok then.

The Dee is a river in and on the borders of Wales, mostly quite picturesque.

Its proper name is Dyfrdwy, meaning water of the goddess.

lechiffre55 · 04/07/2024 14:51

Maybe we should add D to the aphabetti spagetti acronym of oppressed people?
LGBTQIA2S+D
Perhaps if they round off that chevron invading the pride flag from the left it could become a bit more D shaped?

HellonHeels · 04/07/2024 15:16

TWETMIRF · 04/07/2024 13:40

Dudley Dursley had a nickname of Big D. Do you think she's twigged that she's associated herself with JKR?

The BIGOTRY!

This requires direct action by queering yourself.

I identify as a queer adult human female. We are extremely underrepresented!

UpThePankhurst · 04/07/2024 15:23

Isn't it weird today how you have to be pretty powerful to be recognised and celebrated and venerated for your 'underrepresentation' and 'oppression'. We have a whole lot of powerful people, often very privileged people, all handing each other flags and awards and celebrating how nice they're being to each other because they're all so oppressed and vulnerable...

and no actually vulnerable or oppressed groups anywhere in sight, because they are actually oppressed and not part of the gang. And would like actual action and things to help rather than awards and to give brave wobbly speeches about their traumas.

HellonHeels · 04/07/2024 15:25

Has anyone read the comments under that Metro article? No one has much time for this poor confused and disenfranchised person.

GerbilsAllTheWayDown · 04/07/2024 15:41

As if we needed any more evidence that this movement is a men's sexual rights movement... there is Dee holding an oversized, golden erect penis with rainbow wings.

AncientBallerina · 04/07/2024 15:41

This level of self obsession is pathological. Anyway isn’t Dee a girls name, short for Deirdre?

Like so much in this folder, it's funny, but it's not.

That was a bit of a nothingburger. I have never heard of a male Dee so I'm not sure the name is as non binary as she thinks.

Short for any name beginning with D, but historically for Deirdre and Dorothy especially (particularly if you didn't want to be Dolly or Dot in the latter case).

Dee Dee Ramone?

D-fens from Falling Down?

Dee Dee Ramone, so good they named him twice.

Dee Dee Ramone?

D-fens from Falling Down?

In my defence my musical knowledge stopped around Duran Duran. Which is another D name now I come to think about it.
