“And that is the upside of this issue. It has created what I call late onset feminism, in so many women, me included.”

This is me too @Datun

Sadly I have a few more necessary years in the workforce to fully out myself but there will soon come a time where the zenith of the anti woman activism will coincide with a large number of women reaching the age when they retire and don't have to factor in how standing up for their rights affects their livelihood and also will have the time to get involved in politics, grass roots activism, charities and gschool governors .

this will also coincide with three other significant developments;
1 younger women of the be kind ilk both becoming mums and aunties with the natural instinct to protect their young girls kicking in plus greater life experience of how biology impacts their lives
2.gen z kids getting older and deciding 200 genders, flags and pronouns are seriously uncool and
3 Mass litigation starting in the US because of the ease of litigation finding their and an active plaintiff bar looking to earn big bucks against the medics involved, drug manufacturers, employers and premises that allow mixed sex facilities where women are attacked or spied on. Follow the money ...women might not matter but money always talks ...

us late onset feminists will soon be unstoppable

Update…

“A health board facing landmark legal action by a nurse suspended after complaining about a transwoman in a female changing room is fighting to have proceedings held in secret.

“NHS Fife are spending public money to stop the ten-day hearing - which could cost around £200,000 - from becoming public.”

I bet they are.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/10/2024 09:35

Wow.

Two top London barristers have been drafted to represent both sides in the case.
Naomi Cunningham, who represented caseworker Roz Adams when she won a tribunal against Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centretre*, is acting for the nurse.^
Jane Russell, a high-profile employment tribunal specialist, is acting for Fife Health Boardard* and the co-respondent who is the transwoman.^

Jane Russell was involved in Maya Forstater and I think Allison Bailey, both for the respondents.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/10/2024 09:35

Ugh, sorry about the formatting.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/10/2024 09:31

I bet they are.

They can identify it as private if they want, so long as the public gets to hear exactly what they are up to.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/10/2024 09:38

I was just thinking exactly that! They won't be able to stop people talking about it, and the judgment will have to be public.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 13/10/2024 09:39

Hopefully their machinations will have a Streisand effect.

SunnieShine · 13/10/2024 09:42

ActivePeony · 03/07/2024 20:27

They are captured almost completely. They will be on the side of the TW not the nurse.

On the side of the man.

Helleofabore · 13/10/2024 09:48

I wonder why a NHS trust would want to keep this case private… such a significant case too. Mmmm…

So much sunlight in this case.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 13/10/2024 09:50

Organisations always want to hide their poor treatment of women.
Hopefully they won't succeed.

PronounssheRa · 13/10/2024 09:53

Nothing piques my interest more than organisations trying to keep something secret.

And I am delighted by this because Naomi was amazing in the ERCC case and Jane was at best mediocre in the Allison Bailey case so I am looking forward to how they are in this case

StickItInTheFamilyAlbum · 13/10/2024 10:22

She was Andrew Hochhauser's junior counsel for Bailey. I can't remember whether it was Forstater or Bailey in which she mentioned MN and said that she didn't want to be misquoted or something.

FranticFrankie · 13/10/2024 11:15

It’s comforting to know that Naomi will be representing the nurse- who wouldn’t want Naomi fighting their corner??

Hoping the hearing will not be held in private. The very request makes people go ‘hmmmm I wonder why?’

Disgusting treatment of the nurse- treated like she’s done something wrong 😠

Babadookinthewardrobe · 13/10/2024 11:24

Secret tribunal you say. Well that’s my interest piqued, it’s so much more interesting when they scurry around trying to conceal their dirty dealings. Will keep a special eye out for news on this one so I can spread the info they’re trying to hide as far as possible.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 13/10/2024 11:42

Hopefully the fact that they want to keep this secret will provoke intense media interest as the hospital explains why a woman is required to undress in front of a random man who claims to be a women. Should be fascinating to hear their argument.

Datun · 13/10/2024 11:54

"the hospital explains why a woman is required to undress in front of a random man"

Yep. Let's be having it

MarieDeGournay · 13/10/2024 11:57

The courage of women like this who take a stand is amazing. It's a long gruelling process, it must be stressful and it must be costly in many ways.

Well done and thank you to this NHS worker, and to all the other brave women who say no.

StickItInTheFamilyAlbum · 13/10/2024 12:06

Jane was at best mediocre in the Allison Bailey case

I recall her as across her brief (despite the bundle issues) and effective. The anger of the GCC own witnesses made them difficult to handle and keep on topic.

Maybe, unlike the OU, Mermaids, Garden Court Chambers etc, they have a residual amount of sense that tells them that their staff, once in a witness-box and facing cross-examination, will make them a laughing-stock. Personally I think it's very unfair of them to deprive the nation of one of the few sources of gaiety in difficult times.

Absolutely I hope she sees this thread and knows we are all behind her

I remember her being very belligerent (and borderline racist) and I know her job is to defend her client but she seemed to rely on very poor arguments

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 13/10/2024 12:30

The reasons why NHS Fife think this should be secret will in and of themselves be fascinating and revealing. I do hope that at minimum tribunal tweets can report on the hearing to decide if the remainder of the case should be held in secret.

abusers always do prefer it when their abuse is private, don't they?

does anyone know if the nurse bringing the case has a garden needing attention at all?

WeMeetInFairIthilien · 13/10/2024 12:37

Thank you for this. It had completely slipped under my radar, as I am assuming NHS Fife want.

Brave, brave woman.
