Election candidates who hold ‘militant views’ on trans rights ‘named and shamed’ by women’s group

A women’s group has named election candidates who have expressed “militant” views on trans rights.

The grassroots campaign, What Is A Woman, said the House of Commons elected next week will contain more MPs with extreme views who cannot be relied upon to stand up for women.

One candidate has suggested that asking for care on an NHS ward by someone of the same sex can be “malign”, while another opposed barring a trans woman to a single-sex ward for females.

Another dismissed fears about puberty blockers, saying they had a “minimal impact on health”, and a candidate said they would address people who failed to use the pronouns a trans person identifies with as “pig d*”.

Others said asking the question “what is a woman?” was a “transphobic whistle”, while others criticised the recent Cass review into gender medicine.

Such respectful, insightful candidates! I wish them all a successful future in panto politics

John ‘pig dick’ Munro, Lib Dem for Welwyn, sounds very mature.

Its interesting to see how this is being responded to now it is happening.

When first launched quite a few on FWR were sceptical about it, which is why I included the link to the thread from back then.

Getting increasingly angry with the Tories who have just abandoned women to all this.

Seriously??

How is it possible that anyone can say this.

If it hadn't been the U turn by the Tories who initially supported bringing in self id, and listened to the many women, including those of FWR that women's sex based rights were being erased by trans ideology.

If you want to be angry, be angry that when Labour gets into power they will undo the Tory u turn and in no time at all we will have self id.

Although of course, there is a sligth chance that had Sunak not called the election when he Kemi Baddenoch might just have got the EA amended.

Why is it no longer possible to have a thread about the actual OP, but came bogged down in the misleading statement that it is all the Tories fault.

It was after all Labour who created the anti woman distortion of the EA by giving the GRA precedence.

Why not Labour who created the GRA and has been ignoring women for over a year?

And is about to get in and make it worse

TawnyFae · 30/06/2024 00:08

As always a shit show for women - have the vote ladies - we’ll just ensure there’s no fucking point in you voting by putting up crap candidates with zero interest in your needs

UpThePankhurst · 30/06/2024 20:55

Possibly the utter shit show of the next 5 years is necessary to make women angry enough and for new blood and parties to arise. I suspect Mr Starmer is going to find that women don't just settle down and accept the role he wishes to hand them, or go along quietly with 'hate crime' laws to silence and force their submission. I don't think he'll find all the press indulging that quietly either. And let's hope for a good, loud, proper opposition, such as we haven't seen for a very long time.

You might want to check out the lists and see how many Tories support women v the other parties. How does it look in your constituency?

There are cross party MPs who have been quietly standing up to all this, and I'll vote at this point for sanity and opposing voices without regard for party.

I meant that Sunak and co have intentionally chosen to leave women helpless to a bunch of misogynist extremist zealots waltzing in and creating laws that will be hell to get rid of. They had time and could easily have taken the actions they mention in their manifesto, and they had voices of sanity in their ranks trying to get them to do so. I won't get into the painfully slow and weak last minute actions for child safeguarding that will be very quickly undone .
