Its only a short part at the start of this section - but as so many threads have now shown, Labour clearly doesn't not have an agreed position on supporting women's sex based rights.

Angela Rayner says she won’t be cowed by JK Rowling when it comes to her views on gender reforms

Labour's deputy leader Angela Rayner has told this programme she won't be cowed by JK Rowling when it comes to her views on gender reforms. The Harry Potter author - who lives in Edinburgh - has accused Labour of abandoning women who want single-sex sp...

Meanwhile, over on Reddit they're really really really mad at Rayner.

This may be a silly question ..but has anyone actually asked AR out straight if she stands by calling the WPUK and LGB alliance 'hate groups', yes or no, quoting the 2020 manifesto in a way that she had to give some sort of a direct answer?
By email? letter? question at a press conference? A question in Parliament probably wouldn't do the job as it's too easy to waffle unchallenged in reply.

Also the other signatories, but she is the highest-ranked.

@MarieDeGournay is there a way of asking a politician a question that they have to give a direct answer to?

If they don't want to answer, they will ignore / deflect / waffle. They've even been known to walk out of interviews.

They will also ignore / deflect / waffle if asked in writing.

I know Angela Rayner makes much of her no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is persona, but if she really doesn't want to answer, she won't.

She was asked straight out by a C4 journalist in an interview during the election campaign and AR refused to give a straight answer, she kept dodging the question. It was infuriating to watch.

Ah I see - I can't open the video so didn't know she had been directly tackled so recently on the 2020 manifesto. Apols.
