Its only a short part at the start of this section - but as so many threads have now shown, Labour clearly doesn't not have an agreed position on supporting women's sex based rights.

Angela Rayner says she won’t be cowed by JK Rowling when it comes to her views on gender reforms

Labour's deputy leader Angela Rayner has told this programme she won't be cowed by JK Rowling when it comes to her views on gender reforms. The Harry Potter author - who lives in Edinburgh - has accused Labour of abandoning women who want single-sex sp...

Feminists have argued with each other since time immemorial. It's part of how we work things out.

That camera angle for the long haired bloke at the end of the segment felt very realistic. Just like being towered over and hectored in real life.

Did you watch the video? I completely agreed with her and the click baity headline doesn't help. She says she wants to see single sex spaces safeguarded and to respond to the fears of biological women.
Confused

CassieMaddox · 28/06/2024 23:04

The reporter put words in her mouth by asking "are you going to be cowed by JK Rowling?".

WinterTrees · 28/06/2024 23:12

Angela Rayner says that 'vulnerable women are very scared by some of the language that is being used.'

Bollocks to that. I'm scared by the reality of men being able to access spaces provided for women for reasons of safety and dignity, and not being able to challenge that.

By ‘vulnerable women’ she probably means men

zibzibara · 28/06/2024 23:20

"And I want to say to the transgender community, who some of them are vulnerable and scared as well, that the Labour Party will support and protect you."

Sounds lovely on the face of it but this is just a euphemism for letting males use any female space they want.

She makes it clear she means biological women

I don't believe her. Because she's also said that tw rights are women's rights.

She's either hopelessly captured (and let's not forget the offer to save Lily Madigan a place on the HoC benches despite the little twat showing not one scintilla of talent or intelligence), thick as mince, or both.

She shouldn't be anywhere near power.

Flittingaboutagain · 28/06/2024 23:39

I'm not scared of language, I'm scared of men, however they identify, coming into my space. I thanks the Janes and the Joannes for speaking up.

zibzibara · 28/06/2024 23:42

CassieMaddox · 28/06/2024 23:31

She makes it clear she means biological women

She's a true believer in the sexist ideology of men women and she's a politician so really it is not clear at all.

She means that speaking about it has caused women to be scarred.

Not the actual intention of letting men into womens spaces, without any discussion or safeguarding, but talking about it.

IwantToRetire · 29/06/2024 00:47

I see the usual suspects are skimming over the core fact, which is the point of the thread. As the title clearly states.

The interview starts with a very explicit question about will she apologise to WPUK and LGB Alliance.

2 / 3 times she refuses to answer and then does the bland safe spaces routine.

ie Labour is again saying we can decide which are the right opinions about women's sex based rights and which aren't.

So it is just another slimmy underhand response by a senior Labour Party member.

She is pathetic. How can anyone take someone who is so clunkily devious seriously.

She hasn't apologised

Women's sex based rights are NOT hate

Same sex attraction is NOT hate

Yup, Rayner didn't answer the question(s) re WPUK etc being hate groups AND she tried to splice the word 'biological' into her answer so often without really saying anything of substance that she ended up tripping over her words.

I noticed Kier had the same problem when talking to Jane on BBC 5 Live earlier today; he kept tripping over the word 'biological' and ended up saying 'biological spaces' 😏

I also heard that. He was clearly desperate to keep to his carefully curated lines rather than speaking from the heart.

miri1985 · 29/06/2024 03:49

I think with Rayner the question needs to be put about workers rights . Her big thing is workers rights, what protections will women have when changing when getting a GRC is made significantly easier and does she support the NHS nurses who are suing? What about prison guards or police, should they be able to opt out of searching people not of their biological sex even if they have a GRC?

Datun · 29/06/2024 04:52

If their tactic is to constantly deflect from the questions, they're soo going to come unstuck.

It doesn't work.

It's the quickest way to look bad. And even the rookiest of rookie journalists can spot it a mile off.

"We have biological women, and we have trans women. And they’re both women: one is a biological woman through sex, and one is a trans woman who has transitioned. Most of the public can get that.”

Rayner, April 2024.

https://www.theguardian.com/global/2024/mar/23/angela-rayner-roots-rough-edges-ready-for-power

Even if it were true that trans women who have transitioned are women, what about trans women who haven't? What about trans women who are fully intact unaltered men who call themselves women? Angela knows these people exist; she knows most trans women are this type of person. She's a disingenuous liar.

Oh dear God the lack of self awareness from the TWAW pronoun police.

WickedSerious · 29/06/2024 10:10

She doesn't know her arse from a hole in the road.

The same goes for anyone else who thinks 'some women' have become women by 'transitioning'.

Imnobody4 · 29/06/2024 10:13

She's just doing a 'calm down dear' routine. Vulnerable women whose fears are being stoked by cruel feminists. Hate group is a slur and she should apologise. I have zero respect for her.
