This piece of shit was in such a hurry, at 19, to rape this child whom he KNEW was only 12 he didn't even have time to bring money or book a hotel when he dashed over on a flight. HE KNEW SHE WAS 12. There is NO fucking excuse.

He may be one of the better athlete’s they have to pick from but they have a duty of care not to let someone of his character anywhere near young athletes.

If he was British he would also have been placed on the sex offenders register. With a sentence of 4 years he'd also be on it indefinitely.

In terms of a person's character there's quite a difference between an athlete sleeping around behind their partners back, drink driving or getting involved in a fight and being a convicted paedophile. Or is it more important to bring medals home even if it's by a child rapist. Whether he likes it or not English law classes him as a paedophile.

It should be career ending. This is a sport played by many children. How are they supposed to look towards the senior team when there is a person who committed this crime. What about safe guarding women and girls who have to use the same facilities .

There will definitely be kids there, e.g. Sky Brown, GB skateboarder, 15, probably quite a few swimmers from various countries, divers (Tom Daley was 14 at his first Olympics) I think gymnastics is 16 now but even so, there will be a lot of under 18s. Where is the safeguarding.

I deliberately DIDN'T mention the NOC-NSF 's transgender policy on this thread, because it isn't the main topic - and condoning the rape of a child manages to overshadow even that. But even if they had the most sensitive, most pro-women and pro-safety policies out their and I thought they were absolutely fantastic, their decision to centre a child-rapists needs would still cancel everything else out. We can be angry about more than one thing at a time.
