Haven't had time to listen to video so not sure of the whole story.

But sounds a bit ... women ban women from women's hustings??!!

The electoral commission advised her to complain and to report to the police so I guess we will see what happens.

Did they, or was it a bit like an organisation telling you to contact customer services when you complain?

OldCrone · 14/06/2024 21:45

CassieMaddox · 14/06/2024 21:26

No. Women are responsible for what they do.
She did not say that neo Nazis weren't welcome at her event after they attended. Thus increasing the risk of them attending future events. Thus potentially raising insurance premiums. Therefore I was hypothesising this was a consequence of her own "all welcome" policy.
Stop infantilising her. Actions have consequences for all humans.

This isn't her event though. It's not up to her to say who is welcome to attend the women's hustings, it's up to the organisers of that event to do that. They say all women and non binary people (i.e. anyone) can attend. They haven't said "Don't attend if you're a Nazi". They could do that.

I doubt the advice to contact the police would have been vague.

But I'm just reporting what KJK said, not making up shit based on spurious extrapolation.

My own view is that "we don't like what your party stands for" is not a good enough reason to exclude someone who's standing for parliament (and for a party which has been accepted as legit by the electoral commission) from a public event where other candidates will be present. I don't think that's good democratic process.

Today's update, BWV possibly/likely in contravention of both charity commission and electoral commission regs on the basis that she is being excluded as a result of her beliefs...

Farking hell. I just watched that to see if she was talking any sense and had to stop because she started having a pop at Rosie Duffield and advising women not to vote for her!!
I mean, really. No political allegiance my arse.

You may not believe it to be good democratic process, but that is the process. Something that was pointed out in the first rash of "I can't wait to see KJK rip apart <insert that week's opponent> at the hustings" posts. Minor parties are frequently excluded.

I didn't say it was "vague". I think a lot of places get troublesome customers off the phone by sending them to someone else to deal with.

I'm clearly not.

CassieMaddox · 14/06/2024 21:51

She also says the person told her it was because they only invited the 4 main parties. I wonder if the Reform candidates are also complaining.

Eh?
I said I thought maybe she was an insurance risk.
On listening thought, it's clearly because it's limited to only 4 parties. She's just doing a Farage.

AlisonDonut · 14/06/2024 21:57

But why would the far right turn up to protest her inclusion?

What did they say on their briefing to you Cassie?

Also, are you saying Farage wasn't debanked?

Yes I'm saying Farage wasn't debanked. Based on the FCA investigation. He made it up for his own purposes

Are you going to go in to bat for Farage now?

FCA finds no evidence of customers being debanked over political views

Watchdog launched inquiry after row over Coutts’s handling of Nigel Farage’s account

Old news. Read the FCA findings. Farage is a master manipulator.

Not really relevant to the thread though.

I don't bat for anyone.

I just don't have conniptions if someone talks to someone else I don't like

Because I'm not 8 years old.

This is a consequence of her failing to condemn the neo-Nazis who attended her event in Aus.

Please stop posting arrant lies.

No, she said she wouldn't ask people to vote for Rosie Duffield. That's not the same as advising people not to vote for her. And it's because she's Labour, who are determined to destroy women's rights. If you vote for a party, you're voting for everything that's in the manifesto, regardless of the views of individual candidates.

What did he make up? The article wasn't about his case.

From that article:
While the review was launched in response to Farage’s battle with NatWest’s private bank Coutts, it is understood that the data does not cover his case, given that the bank never followed through with the closure.

I have no time for Farage, but people shouldn't have their bank accounts closed just because someone at the bank disagrees with their political views.

IwantToRetire · 14/06/2024 22:35

I see the derailers have turned up to bore us to death with their repititious knee jerk reactions.

For anyone actually interested in the issue, the irony is of course that a Women's group organising a hustings for Women is excluding a Woman. ie it isn't a "women's hustings" it is an attempt to tell women who they should or shouldn't listen to.

But then for those who continue to post on Feminism and Women's Rights but have no actual interest in women I suppose it was sort of obvious they wouldn't grasp that.

So it isn't a hustings, it is an attempt to persuade women the organisers think are too niave to think for themselves what they should think.

ie male handmaids

I'm sure people can watch the video. I did and found it shocking that she threw another GC politician under the bus. Better to have more GC women in parliament than less.
