The transgender and sex variations annex (from p.26) really is a very extreme form of gaslighting and an attempt to control women and the press. It's absolutely shocking.

Probably because he is the head of World Athletics (not the IOC) and has banned anyone who has gone through male puberty to compete in the women's categories.

I thought that too Rambling, lots of stuff about recognising what female athletes do rather than what they look like, and trying to ensure equal media coverage of make & female Olympic sport.

Then we get to the annex…… where the media is effectively instructed that trans women ARE women and no mention AT ALL must be made of any inconvenient “sex at birth” etc. Gaslighting all the way 😡

Sure, but it's not like he's nothing to do with the Olympics. He was Chair of the British Olympic Association until 2016, and all over the London Games.

Well MtF and FtM are most definitely inaccurate, given that it's impossible to change sex.

World Athletics has banned transgender competitors, but allows 46XY DSD individuals to compete even having gone through male puberty, provided they take androgen blockers. Covers Semenya, Wambui etc.

No logical consistency.

I'm not sure thr PP was trying to blame him. But when the IOC rules diverge significantly from the athletic ones - and athletics make up a sizable proportion of Olympic sports - it's not unreasonable to think he might comment.

So are these enforceable rules? Do writers and broadcasters have to agree to them before they are allowed to report on the olympics?

Yes, what happens if a journalist reports the truth? Media access revoked?
