Don't want to hear about 'top surgery' on Saturday Kitchen!

Anyone seen Saturday kitchen today? Completely rainbow washed and then a guest mentions their top surgery. I watch it for food not political stuff but it was unwatchable today as its so over the top.

My partner turned it on, saw what it was all about and immediately turned over to James Martin instead.

mum2jakie · 01/06/2024 11:33

I've stopped watching since Eddie Izzard seemed to be on all the bloody time. Hopefully they will notice a drop in viewing figures

TWETMIRF · 01/06/2024 11:33

Self harm being glorified again

Same, only interested in food so James Martin Saturday Morning it is.

I turned over when they started to talk about how inspirational it would be for young people watching.

Freda69 · 01/06/2024 11:44

I had to turn over straightaway - we have a whole month of this OTT hype, with probably much more to come on BBC. I can’t wait!
My gay son and his partner think it’s all nonsense - they just want to get on with living their lives.

Mochudubh · 01/06/2024 11:45

I turned it on just as the Chocolate guy was saying how he felt uncomfortable with the word "queer" due to being bullied at school but then he was "re-educated" by one of his younger staff that it was perfectly fine now.

And switched off.

Oh what?

James Martin's trending on Twitter because so many people are turning over and letting the world know.

Are you listening, BBC?

AnnaMagnani · 01/06/2024 11:59

DH, who isn't usually v bothered about these things, has just said 'Pride month? How can it be Pride month again? It only just finished the last one'

I think we are in for a long month.

greenlettuce · 01/06/2024 12:00

I am appalled that this is seen as acceptable as it is not in my view appropriate conversation for that time of day

It is also so offensive to those people who have had to have operations of this type due to cancer.

Pride month only lasts 15 months a year, what's he complaining about?

That's the bit I saw too. It was horrible I thought - I saw it as a gay man being bullied again into accepting that he was wrong and they were right.
So he just has to put up with hearing "queer" despite how uncomfortable it obviously made him.

It really clashes with the feel-good believe people narrative.

PronounssheRa · 01/06/2024 12:11

Glorifying mastectomies on the BBC is a particular low.

Pride month plus general election campaigning, wake me up when it's July.

ViolaPlains · 01/06/2024 12:12

Within the first few minutes of watching somebody was saying how transwomen led the Stonewall riots.

Yes, definite "reframe your trauma" vibes. I'd bet he still feels uncomfortable, he just can't say so.

looking forward to seeing some black people on telly saying how the "N" word is now cool. Dont hold your breath.

ResisterRex · 01/06/2024 12:30

For shame, BBC. Families can't even watch TV without dangerous lies being peddled.

From Canada. But we know this is happening in the UK, too:

James Martin was doing a pavlova with white chocolate, much more my kind of thing.

Re-educated by his younger staff who had “reclaimed” the word - despite them never being called it as an insult.

I’m white. I’ve never been called the n word. Do I get to reclaim that?

Had it on in the background not really paying attention but turned it over as soon as I heard "as a non-binary......"
