Don't want to hear about 'top surgery' on Saturday Kitchen!

Anyone seen Saturday kitchen today? Completely rainbow washed and then a guest mentions their top surgery. I watch it for food not political stuff but it was unwatchable today as its so over the top.

Re-educated by his younger staff who had "reclaimed" the word - despite them never being called it as an insult....

Indeed. The reclaimed word makes them special and so different to everyone else but because of its previous connotations they can also use it to claim victimhood, when they deem the need has arisen which is constant so we don't need to pay it any heed.

I'm fed up with pride month. It used to mean something and celebrate love in all forms. Now it's just rainbow washing bandwagon nonsense. I now deliberately buy the non rainbow version of everything and refuse to engage socially or at work. I'm annoyed because aside from pride I love rainbows but now I am starting to get irritated when I see them on buildings, clothes, lanyards, linkedin profiles, road crossings. Yawn.

Self harm being glorified again

Yes. Next week: how to cut yourself.

PeppercornMill · 01/06/2024 15:16

Pride Month is so 2022.

Turned it off soon as I saw the first few mins

The state of these comments. I thought I was on Tattle, not MN. Should have known better really.

Shesaidseaside · 01/06/2024 17:32

It’s not actually pride month any more is it, not as it used to be. Much like Stonewall. It’s all about the T. The men particularly. Transing the gay away. Grim.

CantBelieveNaive · 01/06/2024 17:34

Am not fine that women do most of the cooking but most cooking shows are fronted by men so they get all the cash and the glory!! argh 🤔😜😠

Who was on that had had top surgery?

A young woman called Sarah somebody. I didn't recognise her but she's presumably famous in one way or another. She talked about how she identifies as non-binary and then went on to speak in jovial fashion about her double mastectomy ("top surgery"). I felt sad for her, though doubtless she wouldn't want my sympathy. And angry, really, that it seems OK to air this sort of content at 10am on Saturday, normalising something that isn't at all normal ("top surgery" 🙄).

It was the strangest of programmes. I felt like an onlooker to a few people's traumas. Saddened for the true LGB community that this is what it's come to.

It was thoroughly irritating and inappropriate.

LGBTQ+ pushing to that extent is inappropriate for a food programme! It's not gossipy to point that out.

I used to love rainbows. Not now

I turned over when they were banging on about some new drink called 'love jus'

Shesaidseaside · 01/06/2024 23:35

rainbows have been appropriated!

much like women.

I'm not sure what your point is.

People are people. I don't care what sexuality a cook is if they have interesting dishes.

I don't care what sexuality a guest is as long as they are entertaining.

This morning's Saturday Kitchen felt very forced, although I admit I didn't watch much. I find the Welsh/Irish pair irritating so I'd probably have tuned out anyway. I'd probably like the young lad (Bad Education)? but couldn't bear to watch enough to find out.

I have no idea who the NB/transman was.

HoneyButterPopcorn · 02/06/2024 00:08

Why does being ‘non binary’ as a woman mean you need to have an elective double mastectomy? Don’t think I’ve come across a male ‘non binary’ who has had his meat and two veg electively surgically removed.

funny that.

PLEASE complain here, it only takes a moment.
BBC must be made aware that this is unacceptable. My teen watches this ffs. Why on earth should a cookery show be normalizing this for teenagers?

Thanks, @genandtonic I’m definitely writing a complaint.

Great! Thank you on behalf of all mums, and teens out there.

Thank you. I will complain. Vulnerable young people should not have been exposed to this. We shouldn't be normalising mastectomies for troubled youngsters and joking about "top surgery" in the way you might a piercing or a tattoo.

Yes how terrible that a group of women - many of whom are mothers - object to the euphemistic promotion of an ideology which tells young women that if they don't identify with the objectification and harassment by males they need to lop their boobs off and initiate medical menopause.

And yes, where exactly are all the non binary young men who've given up their dicks?

OldCrone · 02/06/2024 10:32

Don't forget to send a copy of your complaint to Tim Davie, director general of the bbc.
[email protected]

When he gave evidence to the Culture, Media and Sports Committee he implied that complaints should be sent directly to him otherwise he is totally unaware of them.

Non-binary is self harm for women and dressing up for men.

HoneyButterPopcorn · 02/06/2024 13:10

Yup. So when by the non bino men grow up, meet a partner, want to have kids etc, all most have to do is change their wardrobe. Non bino women can’t exactly grow their boobs back can they?

as always, works for the boys…

Because they don’t actually like women.

NoMemories · 03/06/2024 09:43

Everyone complaining will be dismissed as homophobic. That’s the beauty of this force-teaming. Plenty of people are objecting to the fact there’s any mention of ‘homosexuality’ on their TVs on a Saturday morning - many of these people ARE homophobic of course. You can hear already how people are wilfully ignoring the specific objection to someone glibly comparing their double mastectomy to a perfectly routine, non-medical procedure like a haircut - they’re artfully stirring that into the accusation of being homophobic.

’On the first day of Pride too!’ they exclaim aghast! ‘This proves exactly why we need Pride’ etc… Ignoring that many gay people are sick to the back teeth of this version of homosexuality that includes accepting a young woman with their breasts removed in their male gay spaces. And accepts some straight young woman who looked at another woman and admired their ‘tits’ as a ‘queer’.

Cant wait to hear how the BBC responds to the complaints if receives.
