May 2The headline gives a misleading impression, but good to see this article. The majority of speakers in the debate were supportive of the Cass Review and are clearly taking it seriously. @WGHealthandCare @Eluned_Morgan's statement was encouraging, but more detail is needed.
Yeah the result of the process is more complicated. In the debate there was a mix of TRA lines, two Tories telling the truth, and most importantly some Labour people showing a glimpse of reality.... oh wait the Cass report seems to indicate that the gender stuff we love has HUGE PROBLEMS. Ferrets incoming... changing direction.
This follows on from a bunch of awesome women finally getting into the Senedd and confronting them with reality on April 25th.
Supporters of Labour Women's Declaration Cymru met in solidarity with women from WRNWales, MerchedCymru and LGBAllies_Cymru at the Senedd yesterday to support Cathy Larkman, lead of WRN Wales, speaking at the Reform Bill Committee. 1/3
Diolch yn fawr a llongyfarchiadau, Cathy for raising many important points for the committee members to consider, including:
• repeatedly quoting from the Equality Act, a woman is "a female of any age"
• self-ID is not a protected characteristic in the Equality Act
• To address the lack of women putting themselves forward to represent their communities, political parties must not continue to ignore the voices of women's rights groups such as WRN Wales, Merched Cymru and LWD Cymru.
Diolch i bawb who were there and watching online. 3/3
The bill for a 100% Male Senedd is going to fail.
Long way to go yet, but the Welsh government is going be pulled kicking and screaming into the real world with a horde of ferrets pushing them along.
