"As a woman it’s hard for us,’ she said as she collected her gong. ‘We are on our way to equality but we need to keep pushing and having this network, and having this support, will be the thing that will lift me up and help me go far.’

She/her pronouns as recently as 2021.
I wonder what changed?

Soigneur · 03/05/2024 11:26

What am I supposed to be looking at? Presumably something in the text but when I zoom in it's all just blurred and unreadable.

in that daily mail interview Georgia Frost talks about how
difficult it is to be a woman. So she's a them
now, not a
woman?

I was reading that article thinking the same thing 🤔

As a woman it’s hard for us,’ she said as she collected her gong. ‘We are on our way to equality but we need to keep pushing and having this network, and having this support, will be the thing that will lift me up and help me go far.’

Well obviously the pronouns have shifted since that time. I’m guessing she opted out of being a woman as it was too fucking difficult.

I had the same issue, but am on a laptop and was able to see it in another tab in the end. Every single cast member has their pronouns under their name, including Les Dennis, who I think we all know is male.

Blackcats7 · 03/05/2024 11:30

Ffs
Still I do believe sometimes giving nutters enough rope is a useful strategy. I am sure a lot of people will think what a load of nonsense too. Hope it blows up in they/them’s face.

These people are so absurd that I have to ask, is there a special meaning behind the missing 'N' in "ANNOUCEMENT"?

Or is it better attributed to poor editing to the point of not even using a spellchecker?

And all are he/him she/her except one who is obviously they/them so I think we can all guess which one is special

I think there’s a disconnect between the funders and the audience with the theatre trying to satisfy both.

Well, it's in Prescot, and looking at the political make up of the local council I suspect the majority of the audience aren't going to have an issue with it. It looks like a very liberal, right-on place.

sourdoughismyreligion · 03/05/2024 12:24

Virtue signalling par excellence. That is easily one of the most pathetic things I have ever seen.

What is even the point of putting third person pronouns in the poster? So that random anonymous members of the public don't 'misgender' any cast member? But how would the cast know?

KittyCollar · 03/05/2024 12:27

Bet Les Dennis can’t believe he’s caught up in such bollocks. He’s old school

sourdoughismyreligion · 03/05/2024 12:28

Georgia Frost is in her 30s now. I turn a blind eye to teens and early 20s pretending they have special gendery souls, but there is a point where you really need to put these childish ideas behind you, and 30s is definitely when it starts to look a bit pathetic.

AGlinnerOfHope · 03/05/2024 10:39

Les Dennis is of an era, age and attitude that no one needs to be announcing his pronouns.

It’s like saying, ’king Charles, he/him’

Tamsin Greig was a superb Malvolio.

Tamsin is superb in everything she does!

No. She’s still a woman. Just a particularly vile one.

True. But it was an excellent example of where liberal and experimental works well rather than being done for the sake of it.

Having a female Malvolio lent depth and credibility to all the other relationships.

Are the audience just councillors?

The problem is the preaching. There is no need for pronouns to be on there - it serves no purpose and could alienate a potential audience.

Maybe that is the purpose though - only to have people buying tickets who want to watch a production that wants the audience to know that the inner gender identities of the actors is as important as their names. Which given the play could be a tangible theme for the story the actors are performing.

But then you surely want to reach out to the non-believers otherwise you are in an echo chamber. And I can’t imagine all the other actors really want their pronouns on there. But they have to if they want the job. It just makes me sad for the actors tbh. I expect all the crew have to be forced to pronoun themselves too in the programme.

Boiledbeetle · 03/05/2024 12:49

I see the they/them actor is playing Viola who pretends to be a man called Cesario.

I think this highlights that it's largely of a certain generation.

I came on to say that Prescot must have changed to a huge extent since I attended college there? It was an ordinary North West town. This nonsense would have got short shrift and much laughter in a very Scouse way.

Then I realised that went to college there 50 YEARS AGO!

How did that happen? I must revisit just to see this very trendy right on place!

how they/them gets any work is beyond me after their actions re JKR.

Citrusandginger · 03/05/2024 13:05

If all the plays...

Yes, I expect they views Viola as nonbinary.

Bigredpants · 03/05/2024 13:10

How can the they themming be applied to a character though? Especially a Shakespeare character. The actors are playing people with an established gender(sex) so how can they force it on their character? They are literally pretending to be other people. People who might have a different gender to their own.
What character did them play in Macbeth? 😁

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 03/05/2024 13:18

Georgia Frost is too old to play Viola. She couldn’t ‘pass’ as a boy at a hundred paces. Some sort of irony there.
