Scottish Labour leader distancing himself from GRA now

blimeyslimey · 26/04/2024 17:43

Just on PM on radio 4.

Scottish Labour leader now pretending that despite enthusiastically supporting and voting for GRA in Scotland, he was never really a fan as, despite voting for it, apparently the SNP had told him that single sex spaces would provided. So he voted despite the fact that the actually Act he was voting for, did not say it was going to do that at all.

The lying sneakly bastardom of all these people now desperately trying to pretend that 'other people made us and lied to us' is incredibly grating.

But on the good side, you can tell all this gender ideology is now utterly toxic politically as everyone who was hoorahing it on, is now desperately trying to distance themselves and shift blame onto others for their own poor choices and opinions.

And that's quite gratifying to behold 😁

And the political commentators having dismissed it all as culture wars having to acknowledge it is important, we do in fact have a point, and that it is bringing down governments.

LizzieSiddal · 26/04/2024 17:52

I heard the tail end of it and wanted to scream, then like you decided at least they’ve done a reverse ferret and children will be protected.

And agree it really does feel like the end of this. Thank you Dr Cass!

Waitwhat23 · 26/04/2024 17:54

The only Scottish Labour MSP's with any credibility in all this are Carol Mochan and Claire Baker who had to resign their front bench roles after defying the whip on the GRR bill.

Scottish Labour as a whole have been credulous, captured fools with no integrity around this issue.

WickedSerious · 26/04/2024 18:04

They must think we're cabbage coloured.

littlbrowndog · 26/04/2024 18:10

Yeah I heard him say he wanted to have biological single sex places for women

unbelievable that man.

blamed the SNP for lying to the Labour Party

what a liar

GailBlancheViola · 26/04/2024 18:33

Liar, liar pants on fire. What was difficult to understand about it? There was no misleading and didn't Labour vote down ALL the amendments relating to safeguarding?

If they couldn't grasp the ramifications of this Bill then they are showing they are unfit for the office they hold.

Otter2 · 26/04/2024 18:35

Yes I heard this weaselly little fucker. Blatant fucking lies.

A big boy did it and ran away 😂

Rainbowshit · 26/04/2024 18:45

Does he think we button up the back?!

I have the receipts from all the emails I wrote to Labour MSPs mate. You whipped them to vote for it. 😡

Igmum · 26/04/2024 18:51

It's quite tough to offer a Golden Bridge when every fibre of your being wants to shout 'YOU LYING GIT!'

But yes, pleased to see those ferrets reversing.

That big boy has been pretty busy on this issue @Dineasair. I think he got to Dawn Butler, Ruth Hunt and a lot of others as well

I remember those debates, and that this was where Labour lost me. MSP after MSP supporting it, bar a few brave souls, including some from the SNP. It was a whipped vote for Labour. What was it that they didn’t understand?

Yes you’re right @GailBlancheViola they didn’t even support the amendments.

Yes, including one that attempted to prevent men who had been charged or convicted of sexual offences from obtaining a gender recognition certificate (GRC).

I want every single MSP that tries to rewrite what they did wholeheartedly to be pushed to answer honestly. Journalists do not let Labour off the hook on this.

Feckedupbundle · 26/04/2024 19:00

Interesting. My MP is Alicia Kearns. She has not been shy about pushing trans ideology, especially when I wrote to her,and seems to have swallowed Stonewallthink hook line and sinker. I have emails from her denying that Stonewall ever wanted to do away with single sex provision, ect.

In the light of Cass,I was expecting some sort of mention of the issues, but she's been decidedly quiet about it of late.

I wonder why?

GrouchyKiwi · 26/04/2024 19:07

All the reverse ferreting lies are both gratifying and infuriating.

DH and I were talking just now about all the craziness happening in Scottish politics and how, if an election were called on the back of a No Confidence vote, the Scottish Tories would lose seats, which is annoying as they were the only ones who voted against the Hate Crime Bill and the GRR nonsense. And I can't bring myself to vote for anyone from a party that voted for both of those.

Sarwar saying he'd be calling for No Confidence in the whole Scot Government has probably annoyed Douglas Ross big time (and I'm no fan of Ross; he's an unpleasant chap).

As distinct from English Labour who have...oh.

Dineasair · 26/04/2024 18:39

A big boy did it and ran away 😂

To quote another stalwart of global public discourse, 'I want that person's name, please'.

The utter, total wanker(s).

GailBlancheViola · 26/04/2024 19:43

Yes, including one that attempted to prevent men who had been charged or convicted of sexual offences from obtaining a gender recognition certificate (GRC).

Absolutely. Come on justify and explain that Scottish Labour.

GoodOldEmmaNess · 26/04/2024 20:00

Bit of a tangent, but I am a bit fed up with the term "social conservatives" being used by journalists to refer to those within the SNP or Scottish Labour who don't support gender self-ID.
Is there some wider range of social issues on which these allegedly conservative people are in fact conservative? Or its it literally just to do with them not supporting an ideology that reifies gender stereotypes and distributes power away from women and back towards men?

lechiffre55 · 26/04/2024 20:37

Its like all the cool kids found this glowy green liquid and they found out if they dipped their hands in it and danced in the dark it would leave all these glowy green traces that looked soo cool. Anyone who didn't have glowy green hands wasn't one of the in crowd. So passe and uncool.
And now that someone analysed the glowy green liquid, and we now know it glows because it's radioactive, and it's very toxic, everyone is like "Who could have been so foolish, not me!" "It glows in the dark of course it's bloody radioactive we knew that all along duh!"
There's a saying I really love - Hindsight is the foresight of gobshites. None of these idiots ever thought this through, and they mocked and cancelled those who did think it through. They were fully on board the lemming train, and it's just run out of rails.

The interviewer on PM was openly laughing at Sarwar when he said that he remembered Labour singing the praises of the GRA rather than trying to hold it back with amendments.

Hey! Also the three Labour women who fought hard for the amendment 'sex not gender' in teh Forensic examiners Bill - Johann Lamont, plus I'm sorry, memory fails for the other two.

Terref · 26/04/2024 20:45

Sarwar whipped Labour to vote in favour of the GRA, iirc.

I'll add him to the reversing ferret list.

Terref · 26/04/2024 20:47

So thats the next likely FM a lying weasel, too, then. Ffs.

littlbrowndog · 26/04/2024 20:51

I wrote to that Iain Murray. Labour mp about the GRA bill

al I got back was most persecuted in the whole world and be more kind.

another one who will reverse ferret

Terref · 26/04/2024 21:03
