Presumably some of these MPs who say TWAW will have “trans identified” children or friends or family members.

Personally I’ve gone from knowing zero people who claim to be trans (in my entire life) to 4 within the last 5 years. I imagine this is a phenomenon that many people are experiencing.

It’s going to be much more difficult for MPs who do have friends / family to back away from this when the reaction to admitting you know TWAW is sometimes extreme (breaking off friendships, going no contact, publicly being called a bigot etc.)

Up until two years ago I knew one bloke who claimed to be a woman(I went to school with him),now I know five.

It's like nits.

One part of this that I think is often neglected is that there are people about who get a huge thrill from having the power to make others say things they completely disagree with and having to say it through gritted teeth is a distressing experience for them.

I have pondered why the smaller political parties (Greens, LibDems etc.) seem to be the most susceptible to the cult. Previously, I've put it down to them being smaller, and therefore it taking fewer infiltrators/activists/entryists to turn the ship. They're generally newer too, with rulebooks that maybe don't quite cover all eventualities.

Your comment set me thinking in a different direction.

Smaller parties have less power. Some people go into politics because they want power. Do those people disproportionately enter the smaller parties because being a big fish in a little pond feeds their ego better? And do such people then revel in "the power to make others say things they completely disagree with"?

There's less people to disagree with you. The LD federal system means that if you get just a couple of people in either one constituency or group it's easy to bully others out and take control. So yes big egos do better without as much resistance.
