Shocking interview on BBC Radio Scotland this morning. . Interviewee passionate about stopping his 10-year-old daughter’s puberty after deciding she was a boy before she could talk.

It's shocking, it's gaslighting. Bbc should be safeguarding children. WTF?

Do you think trans kids don’t exist?

I'd hazard a guess you're not a parent Pitta?

Boombatty · 20/04/2024 22:28

Even if the Dad is right. And I don't think he is. It doesn't mean she should be given drugs that cause serious medical issues like osteoporosis and lower IQ and that's only the ones we know about so far. What if she changes her mind when she's 16 and accepts and is happy being a girl? Have you read about Keira Bell's experience @Pitta567 ?

CactusBasket · 20/04/2024 22:30

Of course the child is upset if she's been lied to for years that she can be a boy by wishful thinking. It's a nightmare that should not have been allowed to happen.

Do I think "trans children" exist? Children who believe themselves to be the opposite sex exist, if that's what you mean. The question is why. And the answers vary. They still are actually their birth sex and we shouldn't be lying to them about that.

Pitta567 · 20/04/2024 22:33

So you don’t think that a child can be trans. Got it

Boombatty · 20/04/2024 22:54

Do you think trans children are no longer their birth sex @Pitta567 ?

Pitta567 · 20/04/2024 23:04

I think there is obviously a transition time. After a lot of consideration I definitely think they can be treated as the opposite sex to that assigned at birth

Of course they can be treated thus. the question is should be and why? Since no one has ever changed sex, what exactly does this "transition" consist of?

Pitta567 · 20/04/2024 23:08

People do change sex

popebishop · 20/04/2024 23:11

Pitta567 · 20/04/2024 22:22

By "trans" do you mean children that want to change the sex of their bodies, or something different?

Puffalicious · 20/04/2024 23:11

Esgaroth · 20/04/2024 22:11

There's no way on God's green earth that a preverbal baby with no understanding of what sex she is was upset at being called a girl.

This is reminiscent of the shit about baby boys opening their vest poppers to make a 'dress' or baby girls pulling clips out of their hair. Just utter bullshit.

Do you have children? If you agreed with all the daft nonsense they come out with you'd completely destabilise them and their understanding of the world. We can play along with a 3 year old who's being a cat, but we don't buy her some dreamies and take her to the vet to get her spayed.

It's abusive to tell children their bodies are wrong. Fucking end of. All children are perfect just the way they are.

Totally.
It's reported that I was completely opposed to any aspect regarded as 'female ' as a young child. I refused to wear dresses/ pinks, pastels, flowers/ have long hair/ dolls (I bit the face off of one apparently 😅) etc, preferring football/ climbing trees/ short-hair/ trousers & calling myself a boy like my brother. In the 70s, I was just referred to as a tomboy, & left to be me in a football strip.

Thank fuck, because in the 2020s I might be on the waiting list for The Sandyford- and rather than getting my pill from there (like we did in the 90s, I'm from Glasgow) I'd have my fertility removed fucking completely!

I have lived a very standard female life, including a marriage, a divorce & 3 children, still rocking a great short hair-do with an appreciation of great shoes.

It's fucking madness.

popebishop · 20/04/2024 23:12

I hope @Pitta567 isn't confusing sex with gender. To do so is to erase the experiences of trans people.

Boombatty · 20/04/2024 23:14

Pitta567 · 20/04/2024 23:08

People do change sex

Oh dear...

popebishop · 20/04/2024 23:15

Ok, so even imagining people could change sex, what has that got to do with their gender?

Myalternate · 20/04/2024 23:17

Pitta567 · 20/04/2024 23:08

People do change sex

Put very simply, no one has ever changed their birth sex.
Some poor soul may think it’s possible but a rational minded person knows it’s impossible.

#Nodebate 👍

lets be clear-you mean sex, as opposed to gender? if so, how do bollocks turn magically into cunts? Pleas tell me that's not what you mean? (p.s.-any nonsense about clownfish won't do)

Boombatty · 20/04/2024 23:21

Is that you India? 🤣

littlbrowndog · 20/04/2024 23:25

The mum of the child was on x saying that she believed in reincarnation that her daughter was being reincarnated as a boy 🤐

CactusBasket · 20/04/2024 23:25

Pitta567 · 20/04/2024 23:08

People do change sex

Legal sex, yes; actual sex, no.

Children cannot change legal sex or actual sex.

DuckDuckNo · 20/04/2024 23:25
  1. People do not "change sex". That is impossible.
  2. I see you're avoiding the question, but are you a parent?
  3. I have children, and neither of them had a very clear concept of sex even at 6. When preverbal, they had absolutely no idea. None.
Boombatty · 20/04/2024 23:26

There's just no point trying to have a rational conversation with someone who thinks people can change sex.

littlbrowndog · 20/04/2024 23:27

Boombatty · 20/04/2024 23:26

Always that 🤣

Doyoumind · 20/04/2024 23:30

Do you think it's fair a child has been lied to pitta? Because that's what has been happening for the whole of this child's life. That child won't have a memory of being anything but a 'boy' if they were 'transitioned' before they could speak.

That child cannot understand that they aren't and never will be the same as other boys.

I see major, major psychological issues coming along for that poor child. Either they will have to face the fact they are not a boy and develop as a normal girl, or horrifyingly they will go on to puberty blockers privately, then testosterone and never have the chance to have a biological child or to have a healthy adult body.

littlbrowndog · 20/04/2024 23:30

But when parents are actively saying they will get get illegal drugs to hurt their children it’s is not a laughing matter and a parent feel’emboldened to say it on national radio these parents should be investigated

wonderstuff · 20/04/2024 23:33

For a really long time, a couple of years maybe my son believed he would grow up to be Spider-Man, he would talk in detail about how he could turn into spider man and get very upset at the idea it wasn’t going to happen. Kids have vivid and enduring fantasies. They role play different versions of their future self, they create elaborate scenarios and plans. Sometimes we go with them, sometimes we challenge them. What we don’t do is start medical intervention, because kids can’t consent to it, puberty is sometimes upsetting and scary, growing up is difficult, but normal puberty shouldn’t be negotiable.

Codlingmoths · 20/04/2024 23:35

People should write in and make it clear to the bbc this is abuse that they have let someone speak about at length and will be a prosecutable crime once the evidence advances (which will be because of innocent children victims like this)
