'It will be left for historians to explain how a handful of trans activists somehow persuaded normally sensible politicians like [Nicola Sturgeon] to pass self-ID legislation that could allow rapists to be placed in women’s prisons. Or to agree that people with beards and penises are women. Or that young kids should be allowed to change their “social gender” in school and then be given drugs to halt their natural development. It took a while for the voting public to finally grasp what’s been going on. But now they know, thanks to Cass, and they are horrified.'

I'd like the politicians to be forced to explain, actually. Soon. Preferably at a public Enquiry in front of anyone who wants to hear them explain their collusion in child abuse and misogyny.

DuesToTheDirt · 28/04/2024 20:52

Yes, this is it in a nutter's shell

Brilliant.

So would I, and not just politicians - Charities, NHS, Civil Servants, the whole ruddy lot of them and then they need to face criminal charges.

Lucy really does have a fantastic way of putting things succinctly and clearly.

I feel this may sound like hyperbole but the choice of next FM will be crucial in protecting kids and safeguarding them and women's rights. If it is that odious Jenny we are fucked, if it's Kate Forbes or Stephen Flynn it could be a bit better. It's placating the mad folk in the party that will be the problem for them.

I genuinely loathe our government now. And I say this as one of the Yes voters of 2014. How naive I was then to the absolute nutters coming into play. I shudder to think where we would be now if independence had happened.

Gymnopedie · 29/04/2024 02:57

Humza is now considering resignation. That may avoid the no confidence vote in the govt and leave the SNP in power.

Wow. Interesting times!

Igneococcus · 29/04/2024 06:17

Also in the Times now:

mrshoho · 29/04/2024 07:08

Go now Mr Yousaf. You should have done this already!

ArabellaScott · 29/04/2024 07:19

It'll avoid the Tory NCV in Humza, but Labour have already said they will press on with a NCV in the Scotrish government with or without him.

What an embarrassing shambles.

I don’t think it’s hyperbole at all, and while I’m delighted to see the back of Humza I am concerned that Gilruth or one of the other tartan loons takes over and we get more of the same ineptitude and rainbow nonsense, with the rights of women and girls dismantled still further.

Solgrass · 29/04/2024 08:18

A live feed from the telegraph too

ArabellaScott · 29/04/2024 08:19

Deputy FM is Shona Robison.

Commentary on Twitter is pointing out that the Greens have managed to get in the position they can veto the leader of the SNP.

Some say the Greens are de facto leading the country, not sure I'd say that was 100% the case. I think we have a sort of phantom leadership, made out of tension, lies, and broken promises.
