Continuation of Thread 7.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions in the supermarket, grr"- that sort of thing).

I lost my MN account a week or so ago. I'm not sure why. I think there was a problem with the Gmail I was using, which is now MIA.

So I've come back with a new account and a new username. Which is annoying 😠 I liked my previous username.

Just posting this because I've go to restart somewhere.

I think, therefore I am, fairly convinced, that you need to go press on the little person in the top right, click the settings options and then the talk settings and choose your colours.

But to the questions... Do you make pithy remarks when posting archive links to get around paywalls?

What! I had no idea we didn't all have the same colour scheme. This has rocked my world.

You can fix the purple green thing in settings.

Do you think I could get my username back? I tried reporting my 'first' post upthread, with a long whinge about it but I've not heard back yet.

It's always worth a try if you have enough information as to the fact you are who you are. There must be ways to prove you are a poster who has lost access.

Failing that have you tried on your new account changing your username? Try typing in your old username then adding a "2" or a "too" etc to the end of it. The only person who would have an issue with that would be the person with the original username, and as that's you... See if that works?

I'll give the 2nd option a go as a last resort...actually, you've just given me an idea 💡
