Continuation of Thread 7.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions in the supermarket, grr"- that sort of thing).

That tweet is such nonsense - the opposite is true. There is no justification for including men who say they're women. You just know that if there was some reason the SG couldn't include men in the misogyny bill they wouldn't be interested. That's the whole point of it - ultimate validation for men who say they're women. Stuff the actual women, I mean who cares, right?

EasternStandard · 18/04/2024 17:24

Ah I need some nice logical pro women posts

Sometimes the madness gets to me, I find it so illogical

Lion400 · 18/04/2024 17:32

Of course, it is all so obviously illogical. But reading about Humza won’t relax you in time for dinner 😂

Yes. Such good news from Scotland, for a change.

Thanks for sharing that Kuc - very interesting.

IcakethereforeIam · 20/04/2024 17:56

Thank you. They generally get it but I found myself rolling my eyes a bit from the 30min mark. Jan Morris ffs!

I've just read this article in the Telegraph, they've got another one about possibly illegal employment practices (to advance you have to, for example, demonstrate how you support Stonewall) at King's College.

https://archive.ph/0yHlj paddle past the paywall

I'm not too fussed about the money they're spaffing on watersportsBlush (although the quote about the teaming of LGB and the TQ+ I loved, although not new it should be said much more frequently). My point is the lock step of the quotes from the Councils, the College (that I haven't linked) and the library in Norwich that was on a different thread.

Perhaps we need a thread to compile all these borg like utterances?

Labour councils spend hundreds of thousands of pounds in grants on LGTBQ+ paddleboards and cooking

Forum+, a charity, has received at least £250,000 from Camden and Islington councils in total since 2022

Here's some more hospital madness, they have changed all the toilets to all "gender" "restrooms."

Leaked internal NHS Trust document 'likens people who are uncomfortable using same-sex toilets to racists'

A leaked NHS Trust document has reportedly 'likened people who are uncomfortable using same-sex toilets to racists'. The set of guidelines is said to have come from Cambridge University Hospitals, which is a family of hospitals comprising Addenbrooke's and The Rosie. In the leaked document, the trust claims it will not 'adapt practice' due to transphobia regarding same-sex toilets, changing facilities and accommodation.

Just happened across this on the New Statesman. Was just going to scroll on by then I noticed who'd written it. After reading it I'm just...do they have an emoji for 🙊 😶?, oh, apparently there's two!

Also bumping this thread. It was on page 3! I was scared and lonely.

Salman Rushdie’s warning bell

His memoir Knife is a defence of free speech for a new age of intolerance. We should listen.

SqueakyDinosaur · 24/04/2024 11:17

What a monumental hypocrite Ms Sturgeon is.

Britinme · 24/04/2024 14:33

Good article. Rushdie was a guest on the Late Show last week and the things he says about free speech are very powerful.

The Daily Telegraph continues to report on the inevitable outcome of gender woo - today, Spanish men self-IDing as women to access shelters for abused women.

NoBinturongsHereMate · 24/04/2024 17:14

The DfE now has an official SEEN network. Thats the second department to give full recognition.

SqueakyDinosaur · 24/04/2024 17:16

That is excellent news @NoBinturongsHereMate

DeanElderberry · 25/04/2024 08:05

Poor man didn't like working with women.

I was interested because I really liked that museum the few times I visited it, decades ago, but also because I too have been irritated by mansplainers a time or two.

Well done the judge.

SNP and Greens news is big

It’s all falling apart for TRAs

Thanks to the Cass report. Happy days! Keep going it’s working

Britinme · 25/04/2024 20:15

Gillian Keegan now says she will stop saying transwomen are women.

www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/04/24/gillian-keegan-will-stop-saying-trans-women-are-women/

MouseMinge · 26/04/2024 20:22

It's a really good article by Sturgeon but the fact that she can write it and not pick up on the cognitive dissonance is gobsmacking.

I've been listening to Knife on radio 4 this week - book of the week - and it really is powerful, probably helped along by Art Malik's beautiful reading. Highly recommend catching up on Sounds.
