Kirstie Allsopp is like Carol Vorderman and Gary Lineker and Jameela Jamil - show biz celebs who think everyone wants to hear their dilettant musings on major political and social issues. In truth, their understanding is so superficial and in such inverse proportion to their fervour, that they stifle intelligent debate simply by imposing themselves onto the discourse.

The idea that she "remained polite and open minded" her tweet is very confused. If she's trying to say she got shit from all sides, then maybe but she's worded it as if she's only been criticised for being transphobic or sitting on the fence, when that's certainly not the point JKR is making.

Can I just do a round of applause for JKR again here? Amidst all of the reverse ferreting she is standing tall and using her platform to spotlight the other women and men highlighting this issue.

Glinner has called out multiple comedians.
He omitted Jo Caulfield who was gleeful when his event in Scotland was cancelled - I don't understand comedians being gleeful over another one's cancellation.
It is all so performative.
I think JKR's tipping point, as mine would be, was the attempted doxxing of her daughter and putting another innocent woman in the firing line. She's enraged and been moderate despite all the attacks. KA's wet comments won't win her any fans.

Like the Reasonable Man phenomenon, I think people like Kirstie Allsopp and Lorraine Kelly definitely see themselves as Reasonable Women.

I think I understand it less when it's a woman. As I say, I no longer debate women's rights with men around the table, most of them aren't going to get it, and no skin in the game.
When I see women such as supertanskki calling hurling insults at JKR online, I do wonder who she is trying to win over. Not other women that's for sure.
I think it's the 'gone girl' 'cool girl' syndrome.
JKR has proved herself a magnificent figurehead for women's rights and will be celebrated for this for decades to come. KA does a bit of interior.

Kirstie Allsopp prods her toe into a lot of debates on twitter. Not a single time have I seen her engage in a way that suggested she understood why anyone disagreed with her.

She has a typical posting pattern of making an initial asinine comment, and then holding fast to that opinion like a limpet, no matter how calmly or carefully anyone explains why it was foolish.

Generally, I think its an attempt to change the focus. So instead of talking about childrens healthcare and that possibly leading to discussion about the way children are treated at school or the whole of trans healthcare, they pick on a detail and try to prove that wrong.

So, instead of talking about children, its become a free speech issue, or the idea that twitter was never the place to have the discussion in the first place.

Maybe that she did talk about this a lot in private, and didnt notice it not being discussed so freely in public?

even now it's been very easy to discuss that TW are in fact Women. I bet she's had lots of open discussions about how the most vulnerable TW need women's spaces to protect them. I very much doubt the discussions she's had have touched in the repercussions for women and children and homosexuals. She's been in her own media echo chamber
