The 'pregnant' man in the cafe today

Dustyblue · 12/04/2024 08:03

At the local cafe with my 7 y/o, queuing to order. Saw there was a pregnant woman (so I thought) next to me said "You go 1st if you like".

Reply was "Oh I couldn't but thank you for offering. I haven't decided yet- my tummy, you know?" patting her belly.

Deep voice, big hands, took a closer look & realised this was a man with a small basketball up his frock.

So, apart from anything else, he wants to experience the 'niceties' of being pregnant. Great. Is he going to self induce the nausea, perhaps drop some acid to attempt to replicate PND?

Just a moan, I'm tired of this shit.

Popetthetreehugger · 12/04/2024 08:10

No harm done, surely? Just move on FFS.

Cazpar · 12/04/2024 08:20

You were at a local café "today" with your child? And you posted this at 8am?

Not many local cafes round my way open at 7am. You'd need to go to the local service station.

Who cares OP? Did they cause any harm?

DrJoanAllenby · 12/04/2024 08:36

Are you in Swansea, Wales?

On two occasions I have seen a man dressed as a woman with a fake pregnancy bump. He's at a retail park and the first time I saw him I wasn't looking properly and I went to usher what I though was a 'her' through the till before me, given that 'she' was pregnant.

The second time I was with my husband and he clocked him in the car park and pointed him out.

It is quite possible OP was not in the UK.

Rightsraptor · 12/04/2024 08:57

I never know what I want when I'm in a cafe and that's got nothing to do with pregnancy since those days are long behind me.

Is this 'being pregnant=being indecisive' another example of Trans Theories of Womanhood, such as periods being about craving ice cream?

OP doesn't say 'today'.

Live and let live.

Bluepetergarden · 12/04/2024 09:22

Chinny reckon

Upnorthsomeware · 12/04/2024 09:25

In the UK and we have at least five cafes open at 7am in my area. Not sure this is the bit to nit pick on 🤦‍♂️

Fair cop, I missed that! But still, OP could have just been using today for a sense of recency, and posting when they had a chance to do so later on.

Same.

And kids are often up early for nursery, school, breakfast clubs or holiday clubs.

I don't really get the posts that do this. Report to MN if you don't believe or engage with the details that offend you, which I'm pretty sure aren't actually to do with cafe opening times.

Dustyblue · 12/04/2024 10:09

I'm in Australia, thus the time difference. Peculiar thing to focus on, but that should clear it up!

True, no harm done at all. I didn't say anything to my 7 y/o, he didn't notice or ask.

Lots of harm done, to themselves and women's rights.

Also, I am in the UK and the local cafe inside my local trains station opens before 7 to catch the commuters and lots or parents and kids on way to childcare.

I'm not sure, it just feels like another erosion of what it is to be female. You can't pick and choose the 'nice' parts, like being treated differently as a pregnant woman. And not all of 'being treated differently as a pregnant woman' is nice or pleasant or fair.

Maybe he'll get made redundant while pregnant or on maternity leave, or return to lower seniority, lower respect.. you know, for true authenticity.

Oh, don't forget shite pelvic floor.

PatatiPatatras · 12/04/2024 10:46

They are all crawling out of the wood work aren't they? The cass report has negated one part of the ideology so they need to make sure men can still get their euphoria boners in women's spaces. Looking for any wedge to reinsert or reassert themselves in women's spaces.

I'm so fucking angry. What stupidity to pretend someone who is either mentally unwell or porn sick is not harming anyone?

Harm does not need to have women being burned at the stake to be recognised.

1 is enough.

HermioneWeasley · 12/04/2024 10:47

@Dustyblue its cosplaying womanhood, that’s why it makes you uncomfortable. It reduces womanhood and the very difficult and dangerous work of pregnancy and childbirth to a costume he can put on or take off at a whim. It’s possibly also performing a fetish in public and making non consenting adults and children participate in it.

Dustyblue · 12/04/2024 10:54

@HermioneWeasley Thanks, that's a great explanation of what was happening and why I felt the way I did.

If that's the case, I gave him what he wanted I suppose? Which was actually just some basic niceness.

Yes, there's always that... urggh.
