(There's nothing quite like growing a human inside you to make you make you deeply sceptical about the suggestion that India Willoughby is living as a woman and Freddy McConnell is living as a man.)

Yes, it's quite stark when you take them both into account at the same time.

Malcolm Clark AT TwisterFilm
The Cass Review looks likely to prove pontificating celebrities like David Tennant have not been the good guys they kept saying they were. Imagine lecturing the public to ignore kids with mental health conditions. “You absolute freaks”.

How can MN have a shared responsibility to this? Seriously?

MN criticised this type of behaviour for good reason. Cos ethical and clinical practice was binned and undue pressure applied and whistleblowers actively villified.

Please explain to me how, MN shares responsibility for silencing essential whistleblowing?

Let’s see if dickheads like this will emerge unscathed from their part in promoting this social contagion.

Spoiler alert - it’s only women and kids they were fucking over, so they will.

Has there been any response yet from any high profile TRA's ?

@RedToothBrush The irony with David Tennant's t-shirt, of course, is that had the Tavi left trans kids alone they would probably have actually had better long term outcomes than with their intervention. So I can't help but think 'Leave trans kids alone you absolute freaks' wasn't too far off the mark, just aimed at the wrong people!

There are so many fast moving threads on this just now I can't keep up and sorry if I've missed it.

But does this mean the end for the conversion therapy ban?? At least as it stands, including trans related issues?

If that ban gets passed then all this will have been wasted, her recommendations overruled.

Apparently binned yesterday

Grauniad has an issue.

Access for medicalisation of children in the US is a Democratic position. Right ahead of an election and the Guardian is trying to cater to the US market.

Interesting though to compare its output across different countries. I'm in Australia and the Australian version of the Guardian has the stories on the Cass report buried way down the page. Much less relevant in Aussie news.

Calllalllama · 10/04/2024 08:30

CaptainWarbeck · 10/04/2024 07:29

So GIDS likely knew the services they were offering were unlikely to stand up to evidence-based review, stopped collecting relevant data which would be useful for said review and carried on with the service regardless?

It baffles me that health care professionals would do this - and why. Surely you would want your ideology supported by data.

It is gross negligence surely?

The doctor does not record the birth sex as they are worried that it might look bad in a subsequent investigation. There is an avalanche of girls applying to the service and they know that it's evedence of a social contagion and so despite this they just keep injecting these girls with testosterone.

If you are giving teenagers health care without a system in place for monitoring and assesing them then you are not providing best medical practice anymore.
You are just an unethical fraud in white coat giving kids life changing off label experimental drugs.

Mate, I’m a child-free woman and I can still see that it’s all a crock of shite Grin

Later this morning I'm going to book an appointment at a surgery with my MP so that I can go in and wave the articles at both him and his supercilious staff and say 'I told you. I told you all this six years ago. And you have treated me as if I'm insane — as if I'm the problem.' As everyone has said, the Cass report confirms that everything we've been concerned about here for years was right. Thank goodness for Mumsnet, even if I was regularly deleted and sanctioned and have been banned on two occasions.

In addition, finding out that the NHS records gender over sex is absolute madness. How on earth do cervical/breast cancer screening letters get sent out correctly?

PronounssheRa · 10/04/2024 08:33

I haven't read the report yet but I have a number of questions about the NHS and how they allowed this to happen? How did we end up with the NHS giving unevidenced treatment to children?

Where was NHS England and the senior leadership, where was the care quality commission. Where were the usual checks and balances.

Datun · 10/04/2024 08:34

Women are really moving everything forward. From sport, to prisons and now children.

Transactivists are trying their best to maintain the stranglehold, but the public are absolutely waking up to the entire house of cards.

All helped by them listening, even peripherally, to TRAs 😀

RedToothBrush · 10/04/2024 08:38

Hahahhahahahha.

That was done quietly.

But not before all the TRA MPs had clearly identified themselves and have their comments recorded on Hansard.

So... can we get back to evidence based medical care now? Or is this a step in the right direction but will take many more to rescue this crazy?

Grauniad has an issue.

Access for medicalisation of children in the US is a Democratic position. Right ahead of an election and the Guardian is trying to cater to the US market.

Our main left wing media outlet trying to cater to the electorate in a different country is a major problem for our democracy.

DrBlackbird · 10/04/2024 08:57

LizzieSiddal · 10/04/2024 07:37

So relived this is now out, after initially feeling elated that we have been vindicated, I’m now feeling depressed because it’s not over is it?
With the likes of Girl Guides (who now sell Pride keyrings) and schools not following government guidelines, are any of these “trans child” pushers going to listen to Cass and stop pushing their agenda?

Edited

It’s definitely not over. The strategy to push gender identity over biological sex has been a structured and systematic process for decades.

I’ve witnessed my university go from supporting LGB to being ’queered’ with pronouns being taught as part of university-wide professional development and human rights training (deliberately?) misinterpreting protected characteristics, threats to faculty working on sex-related research, silencing of any counter viewpoints, student union fetish societies, badges, meetings started with introductions of our pronouns etc etc etc. We are, as you might imagine, SW Diversity Champions. It all came on the back of eminently good intentions of inclusivity. But it now feels almost impossible to turn the tide at our institution to reconsider any of the thinking or policies.

Forstater started us on the road for individuals to have their belief in the immutability of sex as a protected belief and helped others win their ETs. Now Cass is a necessary first step along a painful and lengthy journey to child and young people safeguarding.

But there are many many sincere ideologues out there, along with the insincere and manipulative male AGPs in positions of authority, who are furious and confused about any resistance and will do their utmost to continue to push this harmful and tragic nonsense.

MarkWithaC · 10/04/2024 08:59

One thing that worries me about Cass: Lastly, the evidence base showing whether psychosocial interventions – therapy – work for those who do not undergo hormone treatment is “as weak” as for puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones.

I assume this means therapy not to affirm their ideas about being the opposite sex, but to help them come to terms with their own sex and their body and place in society etc. Does this mean it's likely that therapy isn't effective? Or just that there isn't (yet) enough data?

GrandmasMeatloaf · 10/04/2024 09:02

I am wondering what posters who are scolding FWR think that we should have done? We have been deleted, some banned, some doxed for speaking out on this. We have been factual and unfailingly polite (well, the politeness went for some recently recently I think).

Should we have:

A) Let them trans other children as long as our own were protected (do it to Julia)?

B) Pretending that we didn’t realise how dangerous this is to protect the feelings of teachers and parents who were ignorant?

C) be nice and kind about all people with penises who threatened women, who doxxed women, who sued women?

D) Be grateful and quiet when receiving dick pics from lovely transwomen (didn’t this happen to baroness Nicholson and didn’t JK Rowing receive tons of dick pics on the thread where she asked children to provide pictures to the Ickabog?

I am looking forward to further insight into which of the alternatives/ combinations of alternatives these posters have in mind….

SiriAlexa · 10/04/2024 09:07

Thank you to all the women on mumsnet who have refused to be silenced on this issue. What a shame this report was released so late for all the children who may have suffered unnecessarily.

WarriorN · 10/04/2024 09:08

Apparently binned yesterday

https://order-order.com/2024/04/09/exclusive-sunak-completely-kills-off-gay-conversion-therapy-ban/

With Cass advising that there's still no long term evidence base about psychological treatment only, it completely negates any argument that psych therapy is conversion therapy.

And if they're coming from an angle of ' ideas of gender is fluid and may change over time' it also puts to rest the idea that there's a "trans child" to convert in the first place.

I think that there was/are extreme views on both sides but I don't think as a whole the MN boards propagated the extremism

Do you have any examples of extremes views from the MN boards?
