I’m getting annoyed by those claiming that Cass ignored ‘over 50 research papers’ that apparently showed that puberty blocker and medical interventions are all tickety-boo and do no damage at all. There’s a non-binary influencer on Instagram basically saying don’t upset yourself by reading it or listening to the news because it’s all WRONG and the review was put together under the influence of transphobic lobbyists! And replies saying ‘oh thank you for saving me having to read it’. It’s appalling!

The problem is people use ‘ignored’ to describe papers that were rejected on the basis that the research was too low quality to be included in the systematic review.

The online activists might want to ask themselves why they are so keen that gender medicine should rely on poor quality research as an evidence base.
