Dutch study proves kids grow out of gender dysphoria

A 15 year long dutch study has shown that gender dysphoria is temporary in most kids, I'm wondering how the activists will try and explain it 🤔

EXCL: Most kids grow out of desire to change sex, study suggests

Researchers from The Netherlands found one-fifth of children who are unhappy with their gender grow out of the feeling by the time they become adults, according to a 15-year study.

They'll probably try to ignore it for as long as possible!

MrsOvertonsWindow · 03/04/2024 20:16

All questions will be framed as right wing, pearl clutching bigotry. The determination to transition children is very powerful amongst transactivists. 😡

They’ll start threads diverting attention away from this and onto something (or someone) else, and attempt to keep the other the thread going by repeatedly posting even though hardly anyone is responding.

Undoubtedly true

I'm just here for the "I can't sully my eyes with the Daily Mail" comments 😉

Foot. Stairs. Gone to.

It's such a hugely important study, confirms beyond a shadow of a doubt what so many have known anyway. 15 years of following up. Compare that to the Tavistock not doing any follow up whatsoever.

Thank you for posting this. Let's hope our lot take heed.

You were gifted with accurate special predictive skills!

Extremely interesting, thanks for posting. Certainly suggests rushing into affirmative treatment could leave the majority in a really awkward situation ☹️

SidewaysOtter · 03/04/2024 22:04

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it agin. When I was 12/13 I’d have given my eye teeth not to be heading towards being a woman. I hated periods, I hated dealing with sanpro, I hated my changing body. If someone had offered me an “out” via being trans I’d have grasped it with both hands.

Now, I believe being a woman is fucking awesome (albeit still challenging at times <sideeye at perimenopause>) and one tiny upside of this entire gender shitshow is that through MN, WRN, LWS etc I’ve encountered so many other brilliant, funny, intelligent and fucking amazing women.

Who’d want to miss that?

TheClogLady · 03/04/2024 22:09

Gonna print the study out and send it to all the governors at stepdaughter’s old school 😬

Whatafliberty · 03/04/2024 22:13

My 11 year old Granddaughter was insistent that she was a boy until about a year ago. Now she happily wears dresses and fancies boys. She is 14. We put no pressure on her. However, it has occurred to me that many moons ago many girls went through Tom Boy phases and nothing was made of it. I do feel that social media now encourages them to mistake this for more than it is. Not in all cases of course but in the majority of them. Wait and see seems to be a wise approach.

domineastronomy · 03/04/2024 22:39

Oh god can you imagine the sinking feeling that parents who have enabled their children to transition must be feeling now. The guilt.

WarriorN · 03/04/2024 22:41

Just in time for Cass....'

DadJoke · 03/04/2024 22:44

The survey does not examine gender dysphoria, which is diagnosed using the DSM-5 definition. It asks if “I wish to be of the opposite sex.” which is not remotely sufficient for a diagnosis of gender dysphoria. Plenty of GNC non-transgender kids wish to be the opposite sex.

So whatever this study demonstrates it’s not “proving kids grow out of gender dysphoria.”

duc748 · 03/04/2024 22:47

But as you say, the survey does not examine gender dysphoria...

FrangipaniBlue · 03/04/2024 22:47

I was one of them.

Age 11 I begged my mum to let me have my waist length hair cut into very short chin length angled bob. I only wore trousers and Doc Marten Boots. I refused to play things like hairdressers and beauty style with the girls on our street, instead favouring cricket and tag with the boys.

By 16 I'd done a U turn (still had short hair, still do now age 43!).

These days I'd probably have been given puberty blockers, told I must want to be a boy and encouraged to change my name and pronouns.

How did it all get so bloody messed up??

TheClogLady · 03/04/2024 22:50

Which is fine because schools should have different policies for kids who are temporarily unhappy with their bodies and the imposition of gender roles and kids who are diagnosed with gender dysphoria (and thus under the care of a multi disciplinary team).

Most kids with what we terfs call ROGD will be in the first group and the vanishingly small number of childhood onset GD kids will be in the second, where the Cass Review will set the pathway.

Have a bloody day off, can't you?
