Tras are trying to get JKR arrested.

https://archive.ph/5TEU4 highland fling yourself over the paywall, cos Scottish!

Thought to give IW a break.

The Hate Crime...crime(?) comes into force on 1st April, according to the article. The SNP has not engaged with any of the organisations who have expressed concerns and no-one knows what, if any, training the Police have been given.

Trans activists urge Scottish police to arrest JK Rowling over ‘misgendering hate crime’

Northumbria Police last week dismissed a complaint against the author over calling India Willoughby, a transgender TV personality, a male

From Boiled article. That is very, very chilling. I hope someone kicks their ass, maybe a freedom of information?

What are Stakeholders and why are they involved in training material?
Police Scotland admitted this week that “stakeholders” had helped shape formal training materials for the hate crime legislation, which are separate to the events held for LGBT History month, but it is unclear who these are.

UtopiaPlanitia · 20/03/2024 19:02

Bloody hell, these lunatics will cause rack and ruin to anybody just for the chance at upsetting JK. They’re insanely grievance-addled.

I must be missing something. Why is it "newsworthy " whether JKR has a grandchild or not, whether her child lives in another country or not, whether she changed her name or not (it might be a married name for instance). Shock horror to any if them, all three have happened to thousands of people in the past couple of years 🙄

The tweets and the latest news article are two different matters.

The information in the tweets isn't newsworthy in itself if it was true. However the tweets are newsworthy as the bloke who has a gripe against JKR is purposefully doxxing who he thought was JKRs daughter and grand child but is in actual fact doxxing a completely innocent stranger who could end up with weirdos at her door and potentially her and her daughter could be put in danger because some bloke got his"facts" wrong and refused to delete them once he knew them to be false.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 20/03/2024 19:15

I get that he hates JRK. I get he has doxxed someone. But why is he announcing that she is a granny, or that child lives in another country, as though the announcement is something HUGE. Lots of women are grannies, lots of people live in other countries. I don't get his "gotcha".

Is he not saying that the metaphorical daughter moved and changed her name because of JKR's opinions?

I think the implication is that she's such a horrible person even one of her children has moved abroad to get away from her and to keep the grandchild away from her pernicious influence.

Completely untrue, of course.

I think the granny thing is 'Ha! Old!', the name change/different country is saying that her daughter can't bear to be near her and doesn't want to be associated with her.

Cruelty, in short. Insinuation and not even true.

He says in the tweet above that she never talks about her grandchildren. I think the implication is she doesn't care about them.or they hate her.

Of course the real reason is they don't exist!

He keeps posting sarcastic 'apologies'. Just doubling down.

DerekFaker · 20/03/2024 19:33

He frankly deserves a good suing.

ArabellaScott · 20/03/2024 19:46

He's happy to risk the safety of a mother and child to try and hurt JKR. Despicable.

Hurrydash · 20/03/2024 19:50

Much well judged derision aimed at the new law in Scotland.
However, I do believe we'll get the same - or similar - next year in England when Labour form the next government😞

Ooh sorry, just that JKR is a hateful bigot who has alienated her own daughter to the point she's changed her name and moved to a different country and obviously the bond between mother and daughter is so bad that JKR doesn't even mention a grandchild because her daughter has disowned her for being a hateful bigot. I presume.

UtopiaPlanitia · 20/03/2024 20:02

DerekFaker · 20/03/2024 19:33

He frankly deserves a good suing.

Over the years, Rowling has been incredibly lenient with Harry Potter fandom and hasn’t insisted on protecting her intellectual property as much as authors of her stature might. And now people in the fandom, who’ve made a living or a name for themselves thanks to her work, treat her like this in response. Sometimes it doesn’t pay to be generous, people learn to take it for granted and expect it, rather than feel gratitude.

That's a very bad non apology. What a twit.

Could be very dangerous for the "daughter" and her child, though. There are some total nutters out there.

That's the point of it.

These extremists are turning innocent people into targets to coerce JKR into silence. It's a terrorist tactic.

NitroNine · 21/03/2024 08:51

Apologies to everyone for whom this is painful/pointless, but your man purported to be some kind of Harry Potter fan as did other eejits who are now applauding this nonsense & even claiming Rowling doesn’t know how her own fictional universe works.

I will keep it brief but:

  1. Harry wasn’t ever a Slytherin, the Hat was picking up on the Voldie Vibes due to Horcrux shenanigans.
  2. Sometimes the Hat instantly slings a kid into a House (eg Draco Malfoy into Slytherin) but it’s also been known to take its time. For example it spent 4 minutes working out whether Hermione Granger belonged in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw meaning she doesn’t, unlike Professor McGonagall, qualify as a Hatstall.
  3. Epic misrepresentation of Harry’s Sorting, naturally: first thing the hat spots is a Gryffindor characteristic; & it doesn’t say Harry is a Slytherin. We don’t know that the hat would have put Harry in Slytherin if he hadn’t asked not to be put there (also important to note he didn’t ask to be a Gryffindor, just “not Slytherin”). Have attached actual text Sorting as an image.
  4. It is genuinely embarrassing to see someone this desperate to warp Potter with trans nonsense. Maybe the person Wizarding News man QTd has so little knowledge they genuinely thought it was Genius Commentary. Your one who holds himself out as a [former] Potter fan/expert knows it doesn’t hang together at all but is still using it because he’s that fixated on Rowling saying no to men in frocks who refuse to accept women’s boundaries.

Rowling is managing to combine the wisdom of Ravenclaw with the bravery of Gryffindor & compassion of Hufflepuff as she advocates for women in children - with just the right amount of Slytherin to ensure nobody fucks with her. People keep wailing she’s betraying the [values of the] world she built (which is several sorts of weird let’s face it) but she is embodying the best of them very firmly. While buckeejits like Wizarding News (who should leave it to The Quibbler, at least Xenophilius Lovegood has some journalistic integrity) are running about like Knut-Shop Death Eaters.

Oh & just as a bonus:

  1. Dumbledore expressed concerns about the idea of children being put on fixed pathways at a young age: “You know, I sometimes think we sort too soon.” (His implication was that Snape should really have been in Gryffindor - & indeed Pettigrew in Slytherin as the Hat had stalled over).
  2. The Castle itself is a great big TERF, (see image 3) 😁

(If you are wondering at/alarmed by the thought this is the short version, I am trying very very hard not to talk about a Special Interest where it is a relevant thing & there is so much more information I could force onto you all but instead I’m going to post this & feed the cats. And myself. Not the same thing, though they would very much like to get their paws on my toast with marmite.)

IMO it's textbook c*lt thinking, in which the Noble Righteous Ends justify Any Means, and innocents who get in the way should be grateful to be sacrificed for the Greater Good.

As in the [probably apocryphal story] commander of the Albigensian Crusade when asked how to distinguish between the faithful and the heretics "Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius." (Kill them all, God will know his own).

God - you're right. I never even thought of that.

In my sweet naiveté I actually thought it was accidental.

What a bastard!

SNP MSP Fulton MacGregor admitting the shit is going to hit the fan with JKR and the insane new hate crime law. "don't capture the spirit and essence of the law". Unknowingly(?) acknowledging that enacting the law relies on a magical spirit essence. Instead of clearly defined terms for a criminal law!..... This magical spirit essence theory seems to be doing a lot of heavy lifting these days.
