So a prominent trans barrister from Somerset is in the audience of a people's forum with the PM in Durham. I'd be interested to know how that came about.

<Googles Robin Ellacott>

Ah, character in the Strike novels.

Pft. Strike is a character in the Robin Ellacott novels, you mean...

To be fair, having seen RMW’s ability to collate bundles

If you malign RMW's bundle compilation capabilities, you know what will happen. It's like saying Candyman.

Waystation · 13/02/2024 11:11

RS response was just perfect - balanced, respectful and honest - nothing bad or controversial about it.

Igmum · 13/02/2024 11:36

Yes - they've found something RS can impressive about, which is quite an achievement these days. (Also a lifelong notTory who is praying for a GC socialist independent candidate)

I have the sudden urge to break into song

I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango?
Thunderbolt and lightning very very frightening me
Gallileo, Gallileo
Gallileo, Gallileo
Gallileo Figaro, magnifico
I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come easy go, will you let me go?
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go (let him go)
Bismillah! We will not let you go (let him go)
Bismillah! We will not let you go (let me go)
Will not let you go (let me go)
Never, never, never, never let me go
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
Oh, mama mia, mama mia
Mama mia, let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me
For me
For me

As you were.

Indeed. And I don't think Robin even realised it.

Wanting to be a woman obviously doesn't extend to any relinquishing of male privilege, even when they're trying to deny it exists.

Datun · 13/02/2024 12:35

Startingagainandagain · 13/02/2024 08:54

You are referring to GB 'news', seriously?

The channel is a propaganda machine for far right views and Sunak is a corrupt and incompetent PM.

The fact that you might agree with him on this one point (gender) should not mean that you should ignore the above facts.

No good can ever come with associating yourself with this type of people or tv channel.

Sunak has zero interest in supporting women by the way...this is just another desperate attempt to get a few votes from the gullible...

No good can ever come with associating yourself with this type of people or tv channel.

Lol. Tell that to Robin White.

Although it's interesting now, as no debate grinds to a halt, exactly where trans activists have to go to counter the narrative they don't like.

As more and more people platform women and women's views, they're having to trot along there in order to criticise them.

Maybe we'll finally see some left-wing places platform the conversation as a result.

White cannot deny that they don't know about it now. I remember the thread very clearly where White tried to deny that male voices are more powerful in all the different ways we pointed out.

They may have claimed ignorance before then, but certainly not over the past few years.

I'm more interested in the guy at the end, who when asked by a journalist what he thought, asked where he could claim his expenses Grin

I did watch the clip of this question, I thought starmer came across as really wooden, his body language was totally cringey, he's obviously been having "personal presence" training. And the audience were very stony faced.

Regarding the answer, Sunak was very clear that there will be no support for transgender people in any sense in his administration. This will play well to his core voter base but doesn't necessarily translate to the voters at large - I'm not sure it will win him new votes

“Hate speech” 🤣 “Demonise” 🤣🤣 etc etc

Datun · 13/02/2024 13:19

Does 'support trans people' mean in fact 'fuck over women and children'?

To a transactivist, yes.

Froodwithatowel · 13/02/2024 13:23

I really would like a transcript of what he said and for an activist to explain exactly what is wrong with it.

Because they would have to argue that women shouldn't be safe, shouldn't have health care, children should not be treated carefully and sensitively and we should not live in a tolerant, equal society.

It'll end up being like the JKR thing. 'Ok so it wasn't what she said it was the tone she used'.

This is all passing now into utter farce.

Them is a galumphing great contradiction in terms, isn't they?

A) No GRC.
B) No surgery.
C)Oestrogen?
D) Demands to use the ladies, despite definitely not being allowed to, because see A & B.

Why so many deletions on this thread?

My comment was asking a valid question.

We do keep asking this of you @AdamRyan but you never give a clear answer what exactly does this support of trans people look like?

I suspect what you see as support is in fact extra rights and privileges bestowed on trans people which no-one else is entitled to and which are detrimental to others. Just be honest and come out and say that you believe this group of people should have special status and be placed in a hierarchy above everyone else.

Rishi Sunak included everybody in his answer he did not single out trans for special status, that's what irks you isn't it? The fact everybody should have the same rights and there should be no special castes.

HipTightOnions · 13/02/2024 13:31

B) No surgery.

I don't think that's true actually. RMW wrote a blog about it.

AdamRyan · 13/02/2024 13:31

What I mean is, he was very clear he isn't putting anything in to meet the TRAs demands, either in LGBT actions or anywhere else.
My personal opinions are neither here nor there. I just thought it was very unequivocal and wonder if its going to play the way he hopes.
