Wow, exciting times!

Just done some gardening 🥕

LWSnow · 08/02/2024 22:33

Re splitting the vote, she's going to stand against Keir Starme I think. I suppose if anyone else wants to stand for parliament I her party, they'd be strategic.

Lottapianos · 08/02/2024 22:43

'Never heard of her'

Oh dear, well you've got A LOT of catching up to do!

Starboy14 · 08/02/2024 22:51

She is such an amazing woman. 👏 bravo Kellie-Jay, bravo!

ArchetypalBusyMum · 08/02/2024 23:00

Thrilled!
Will do some gardening tomorrow.
That logo is genius! 🤣😍

Fenlandia · 08/02/2024 23:08

I assume TRA Twitter has welcomed this fantastic news for democracy and inclusion?

Never heard of her. I think the idea, theoretically, but some women are awful.

You need coffee.

Notaflippinclue · 08/02/2024 23:10

Some women are awful the rest are bloody brilliant

Does she have a manifesto about all the other shit that's going on or is it just about Trans?

Odd way to spell women's rights

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/02/2024 23:33

If KJK is standing for election in Keir Starmer’s constituency, I wonder how many ways he will come up with excuses to avoid being in candidate debates with KJK present as a candidate 🤔

Are Labour interns combing the Big Book Of Rules searching for ways to help him avoid being seen debating her as a fellow political candidate??

Who needs a newspaper-sponsored bloke-in-a-chicken-costume to follow Starmer around in public during the election year when we’ve got Kellie-Jay publicly challenging him to debate her 😊

IwantToRetire · 09/02/2024 01:39

When I said about putting ourselves forward as candidates I had sort of assumed that was why she had formed a Party rather than just standing as an independent against Starmer.

So maybe wait and see if she is going to look at recruiting party members let alone potential candidates to stand as the next GE!

But for anyone interested here are the rules on standing as a candidate https://www.parliament.uk/about/mps-and-lords/members/electing-mps/candidates/

Candidates in a UK Parliamentary Election must pay a deposit – currently £500. If they receive at least 5% of the votes their deposit is returned (ie if you receive less than 5% you lose your deposit) https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/lost-deposits/

Userxyd · 09/02/2024 02:47

Oh wow- finally a group I can vote for! Fantastic news. Will be waiting to hear their economic and green policies- especially now both traditional parties have bailed on the environment. Go Posie! 🥳🥳🥳

She did seem to be suggesting that was the next step in her announcement.

mumda · 09/02/2024 06:12

As well as general elections (for which there is a cost to stand) is she hoping people will stand at local council level? Parish councils are occasionally easy as no one stands for them.
It'd make sense to stand in a very few key seats for maximising publicity at general election.

Yay!

Vebrithien · 09/02/2024 07:26

She had a rather stonking day, yesterday!

I'm so pleased to hear this. I'd heard that there were delays in becoming registered, was worried there would be stall after stall.

All credit to her.
