Is that the you didn’t like what Kemi said argument again

It was really poor

You couldn’t get no one cared what she said, well apart from you

How can you possibly deduce that from the post you replied to?

I think we have all tried to actually engage on this thread and even set out where we might have common ground. But we just get accused of being MRAs etc if we don't toe your line or point out something that you don't like. I won't be venturing on these threads again, it is not worth it. But I will watch KJK's progress with interest and am keen to see her manifesto.

Edited

The KB stuff wasn't engaging with us, it was you telling us we're wrong to be thankful that she's trying to amend the EA, due to there being potential that her voting history or beliefs might not be great.

As you were told, we can be pleased about one thing (or two, such as guidance for schools), without being a cheerleader for all she does or thinks. We don't need political purity, just somebody willing to do what's needed.

Here's a list of the candidates in the upcoming Rochdale by-election. There are 11 candidates.
Notice anything?

That's quite something isn't it?

PurpleSparkledPixie · 11/02/2024 18:07

I noticed a couple were definitely dodgy, criminal convictions or interest in China and Cuba but I think I fell in love with Monster Raving guy

Among his other policies is a plan for all new-build housing to have hedgehog homes included to help eradicate homelessness for hedgehogs,

SinnerBoy · 11/02/2024 18:08

Yes, they all look as though they're about to have their collars felt, apart from the vicar, who's already had his felt...

Yes I can. But I don’t insult strangers online and if you think I have please report the post.

Insulting is probably not the right word, but you come across as dismissive and condescending. If everyone always said, "Oh, there's no point, why bother? It won't make any difference," most of us would still be serfs, grovelling to our feudal overlords.

At least one of the photos looks like a police mugshot, taken on arrest!

Great pity that 11 parties cannot come up with a single female candidate.

Though hopefully Ali will be gone so scope for a change there.

Sadly, they can't ditch him because the election is less than 2 weeks away.

Plasmodesmata · 11/02/2024 18:20

The Green party candidate has already been ditched, if you read about him.

Plasmodesmata · 11/02/2024 18:23

Sorry for derailing. I just thought it was sort of relevant that Posie is starting a Party of Women, given that this by-election coming up has not a single female candidate out of 11.

NoWordForFluffy · 11/02/2024 18:29

Couldn't they do what they did in the council by-election the other week and stop campaigning for him as they did for Laura Pascal? Then, if he won, he'd be an independent?

BezMills · 11/02/2024 18:33

It's so great to see everyone talking about KJK, she really has a talent for starting conversations.

It's just so nice to be visited by so many fresh usernames who have evidently had their interest in MN FWR piqued by KJK. Who knows, it might be a case of piqued to peaked for some.

LWSnow · 11/02/2024 18:45

Yep Posie Parker for MP. Leaflets at the ready girls!!

The Tories have a significant majority, whats stopping them amending or repealing EA or GRA?

Its about time they did.

Instead its hot air, blaming the ECHR and or the opposition.

I agree. But that isn't what I was talking about. I was talking about the PP bringing up fabricated issues re KB.

Have you read more on what repealing the GRA entails?

There’s a fair few threads on it which are interesting

If you read up and then still say you’d vote for repeal fair enough but it will take some steps to get there than not all will like

re comment up thread about date of registration - have no idea as I saw it and copied info, so maybe as suggested now registered - certainly hope that if doesn't mean that it has already been deregistered following complaints or something??!!
....

Just to be really boring and get back to the core of this thread, instead of random drealing comments about KJK that aren't based on reality, has anyone registered via the website?

I haven't because in reality I would be a hopeless candidate, too disorganised, cant speak in public, would probably get the date wrong, and almost inevitably would lose my temper and start shouting as someone, probably male!

Can any of you see yourself knocking on people's doors and entering into a conversation about why you are asking to be elected?

Would you have any worries about becoming known in your local area as someone with GC views?

I wonder if KJK will work with those interested in creating a womanfesto, or whether it will just be a single issue campaign, although as said up thread, the issue of experiencing life as a woman impinges on every aspect of our day @MatchingBedding

And is the prospect of losing your £500 deposit worth while if it means after the count is finished, you will have an opportunity to make a speech (having thanked the returning officer, those counting the votes, the police, and so on).

IwantToRetire · 11/02/2024 19:35

Adding this not to derail the thread to other issues which anyone can make a thread about, but both main parties are under threat from having their vote split by dissenters.

eg The Tories losing votes to Reform https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/01/14/reform-uk-richard-tice-rishi-sunak-tories-general-election/

And what seems to be an increasing loss of the Muslim vote for Labour https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/feb/10/labour-mps-facing-wave-of-independent-challengers-over-stance-on-gaza

So just making this point because if both of the main parties are feeling their usual voters are not going to be loyal, then the presence of candidiates from other parties however small, could mean they get more attention that if it was just the usual two horse race.

Will Starmer take up some of TWP slogans (though not promising to keep them)?

And would Sunak try and claim the Tories are the Party for women they didn't go through with original proposals to reform the GRA, did take Scotland to Court and has challenged (well almost) gender ID in schoosl.

In fact this GE might be just the one to be a small independent party as every vote might for once count.

How Reform UK will shatter the Tories – without winning a seat

Insurgent party set up by Nigel Farage and led by Richard Tice will cost the Conservatives 96 seats, YouGov poll predicts

A manifesto is a written declaration of the intentions, motives, or views of the issuer, be it an individual, group, political party, or government.

Whoever called it a 'womanfesto' is being ridiculous and undermining what I assume this 'party of women' is intending to do.

Personally I expect they will do nothing at all of worth - but if it keeps you all happy go ahead with it.

Most women won't give them the time of day let alone a vote

Awww thanks for your permission. Needed that.

That the Labour candidate doesn’t live in the constituency?

And that, surprise surprise, they are all men.
