Party of Women, a registered political party.

I’m pleased to see this PoW start.

However, I don’t understand the basics - how does it work? She has to write a manifesto?

It looks a bit like personality politics at the moment, she is talking in terms of “I never lose” rather than “the party’s position is”.

if I stood for them I want to know that it’s for principles and not for an individual - maybe I’m being impatient though. Do they need to submit a manifesto to get registered?

i think she’ll do well in terms of getting press but I think she’s got a lot of work to do in polishing up her political knowledge. She sometimes says things which are clumsy like “I always want to call (Stormont) Stormfront” and stumbling over Ireland/Northern Ireland - she’ll get eaten alive in a hustings by an experienced candidate.

I think it’s got great potential but i hope that MBM are holding Posie’s hand.

Boo Hoo Kemi isn't listening to Stonewall

IClaudine · 10/02/2024 15:43

I have quoted something Badenoch said. How does that make me an MRA? I must admit I was surprised she said "he pays for my home".

NoWordForFluffy · 10/02/2024 15:44

IClaudine · 10/02/2024 15:41

They are her words not mine.

“If there’s somebody who is doing that, wouldn’t it be the person who goes to bed with me every night and pays for my home and so on? Hamish is a huge influence on how I do things. Which I think is right, because this job affects his life.”

Edited

I read that as how her working life works around his working life and how it works for their family.

But I'll ask again...does it affect how she's trying to sort the EA out to enshrine women's right to single sex spaces? Clearly not, as she's doing it. 🤷‍♀️

You appear to have missed some context out of her quote, however. What came before, as she's referring to what was said previously?

Who cares?

Starmer said similar

‘I talk to her about what we’re going to say and how we’re going to say it. And she has views on all of that. But that’s the normal to and fro in a family.”
‘Mr Starmer said she is an important sounding board’

Everyone talks to their partners if they’re in a solid relationship and in a stressful job

It’s sexist to focus in on a woman who does it

MatchingBedding · 10/02/2024 15:45

Fuck me sideways! Someone came here and actually posted about KBs husband influencing her politics! In 2024 someone actually had to go that low? One of the reasons they wouldn’t give women the vote because they saw it as giving her husband two votes and that was over 100 years ago. Wow! All this on a thread about a pointless woman doing a pointless thing that nobody will care about anyway because it’s so pointless.

BezMills · 10/02/2024 15:45

Pointless BUMP because

stealtheatingtunnocks · 10/02/2024 15:46

Margaret thatcher did it with Dennis and no one complained. First Lady is a recognised political role.

”woman talks to husband” shock?

Exactly

Just get out of here with this stuff already

IClaudine · 10/02/2024 15:47

Wow. You really didn't like what Badenoch said, did you? I thought it was a bit odd too, tbh.

Ha it’s what you posted

😂

What a blind spot bigger than the sun rn

NoWordForFluffy · 10/02/2024 15:49

Ah, here's the context: 'The business secretary also complained that she was portrayed by Dorries as a puppet of Gove “as if I have no thoughts and no opinions of my own”, adding: “Like they’re saying: ‘She’s not that bright. It’s some man who is doing this.’”

In relation to the idea that she was manipulated by powerful men, Badenoch said her husband, Hamish, was more of an influence.'

IClaudine · 10/02/2024 15:52

Eastern, I just set out what she said about her husband being a huge influence on her and what she said about him paying for her home. I was quite surprised about that part, it was an odd thing to say.

Anyway, I hear I am a men's rights activist now.🤣

Datun · 10/02/2024 15:53

IClaudine · 10/02/2024 15:47

Wow. You really didn't like what Badenoch said, did you? I thought it was a bit odd too, tbh.

Badenoch said children shouldn't be sharing toilets, she told the women and equalities committee that boys shouldn't be sharing tents with girls, she says that school teaching on this subject has to be evidence based, and that gender non-conforming children should not be told they are trans.

If her husband agrees with her, then that's fantastic. No arguments in the Badenoch household. Phew. That's one less problem she has to deal with.

Although, it's hardly surprising.

I doubt there is anyone, other than rabid TRA's who thinks girls toilets should be abolished and that kids can get taught any old shit from deranged lobbyists.

lifeturnsonadime · 10/02/2024 15:53

Well even if her husband IS influencing her to recommend amendments to the Equality Act to protect women he’s not wrong 🤣.

I Claudine I’m not sure what point you are trying to make here but you’re coming across a bit obsessed with Kemi Badenoch’s personal life.

You’re not coming across as pro women tbf

And it’s odd to single out a woman who says they take on board what their husband says. I just quoted Starmer saying similar

BS argument from you frankly

Datun · 10/02/2024 15:54

Who cares if her husband earns more money than her!

I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark, statistics wise, and say it's probably not that unusual 🙄

Eh, one referring to one quote and wondering about it does not make me obsessed. I will be honest and say I don't like Badenoch's politics in general at all, though.

BackToLurk · 10/02/2024 15:59

We should focus on what Kemi has said as part of her government role.

"We want transgender people to be free to live and to prosper in modern Britain. Those that responded to the Gender Recognition Act consultation asked for a simplified and centralised process, which is why I am delighted to launch this improved service today. This government will continue to prioritise initiatives that can improve the lives of LGBT people across the country.”

I'm entirely sure that Kemi's cheerleaders will judge this in the same way as they would if a Labour politician said they would 'prioritise' initiatives that improve the lives of LGBT people.

Is that all you’ve heard her say on gender ideology and women’s rights?

Fallenangelofthenorth · 10/02/2024 16:03

If there's a candidate in my area they'll certainly get my vote. May as well as there's no one else for me to vote for, so I'd otherwise be abstaining.

Being wary of Badenoch and her influences does not make me anti-women.

I am not a bloody MRA ffs.

Not at all. I've heard her say lots of things that weren't tied to any legislation so made no material difference. Unlike this, which was actually about making the GRC process easier. Maybe you could point me towards the legislation she has led on that 'prioritised initiatives' to improve the lives of women. Or are we judging KB on words rather than deeds?

I quoted Starmer who says he relies on his wife as a sounding board

Look up sex definition request to EHCR and Baroness Falkner case

If you think turning this tanker against invested institutions will be fast think again

And which Labour senior politician are you relying on to challenge as Badenoch does?

No name yet from anyone, maybe you have one?
