If Labour gets in can we game the system?

Many of us have responsibilities towards children, ageing parents and vulnerable members of society we might work with. Like the "oxygen mask on an aeroplane" analogy, we can't do all this if we ourselves are fucked.

So. Can we mass identify as non binary because:

a) a bunch of adult women all doing it together will cause any remaining street cred the identity has left to plummet
b) gender identity will have become stealth mandatory and very few feminists identify with the regressive stereotypes of "cis woman". NB feels like much less of a lie.
c) misogyny isn't a hate crime (because obviously these cis women feel great about being treated as second class citizens) but as we're NB all crimes against us going forward are aggravated hate crimes.
d) anyone doubting the sincerity of our new id is referred to point c).
e) access to HRT in middle age will be expedited
f) more clout with employers discriminating against us for being so silly as to bear kids.

No. Because we are women. Human females. And nobody is ever confused about whom to discard to the bottom of the pile whenever there's a conflict.

Just fantasising about claiming some of the wonderful NHS treatment that's promised to those who declare special identities (have been waiting over 18 months for an assessment as a bog standard woman). And thinking that by the time I need HRT I won't have the issues some of my friends are having right now. Because my HRT will be affirmative.

I do toy with this idea too. NB certainly fits me better than cis woman. But I'm a woman and I don't believe in gender ideology in fact I firmly oppose it being forced on us therefore claiming to be NB would be tantamount to accepting defeat in my mind.

I think I'd only seriously do it if it seemed as though having a gender ID had become mandatory. By that I mean that if too many organisations register me as having a "woman gender ID" with no option to be understood as simply a woman.

And my main motivation would be to avoid lying and feelings of rage!!

The cantankerous teenager in me would love this. If all women identified as non-binary, then what are transwomen trying to be?

If a mass of middle aged women identified as non binary, I maintain it would quickly kill it stone dead. It's just a fashion for most of the young people who affect a "non binary" identity. You've got to be able to deadpan it though.

I could deadpan it if I actually believed in what I was doing to an extent.

The only way I could believe in it would be the realisation that if I didn't claim non binary, then I was being understood as "cis woman". So my "truth" would be the lesser of two lies.

We're not there yet.

If I still had a teenage school age child I absolutely would be declaring myself to be trans. I wouldnt change much - maybe a new name - but I'd tell them I was now male and throw a tantrum if anyone misgendered me. best way to put them off would be to make this as uncool as possible. The problem would be getting my husband to pretend accept he was now gay.

I'm going for the double trans option so on Monday I'm me, Tuesday I'm a man and then on Wednesday I'm a man who's transitioned to be a woman. So my pronouns will still be she her, unless you speak to me on Tuesday, but I might stay home that day until the next transformation has happened.

So if anyone has a go on Thursday I'll be doubly protected as I'm a transwoman who was once a transman

Like so many other women, I’ve been trying unsuccessfully for years to get treatment for chronic debilitating pain. Since Starmer’s latest speech I am genuinely considering identifying as trans. Any trans. I don't care which identity, I just want my gp surgery to know that from now on they are being transphobic if they fob me off with a patronising head tilt. I take priority now; Starmer said so.

Forget NB. Agender is the way to go.

I was told, in a really "gotcha" tone that I'm actually trans and my gender identity is agender as I think gender and gender identity are a heap of shite and don't believe I have have a gender identity.

Why not game the system now?

The wrong sex? Don't be ridiculous, sex is irrelevant! Forget sex! Just look at her shiny gender identity!

Because it's important to me that I live with integrity. I dislike lying.

So I will only claim the most accurate of all the available gender IDs when it becomes apparent that I have to have a gender ID.

So not really gaming the system, just going along with the system. Only it's a system that hinges on the massive assumption that most women identify with women gender and are cool with all the opression. An inherently misogynist system.

If I need to go into hospital overnight after Labour get in, then I’m definitely going to declare a trans identity. You’ll get a private room.
