If Labour Get In... Light-hearted

If Labour gets in can we game the system?

Many of us have responsibilities towards children, ageing parents and vulnerable members of society we might work with. Like the "oxygen mask on an aeroplane" analogy, we can't do all this if we ourselves are fucked.

So. Can we mass identify as non binary because:

a) a bunch of adult women all doing it together will cause any remaining street cred the identity has left to plummet
b) gender identity will have become stealth mandatory and very few feminists identify with the regressive stereotypes of "cis woman". NB feels like much less of a lie.
c) misogyny isn't a hate crime (because obviously these cis women feel great about being treated as second class citizens) but as we're NB all crimes against us going forward are aggravated hate crimes.
d) anyone doubting the sincerity of our new id is referred to point c).
e) access to HRT in middle age will be expedited
f) more clout with employers discriminating against us for being so silly as to bear kids.

DISCLAIMER: I'm a socialist, this is not about Conservative Vs Labour discussion.

I think instead of NB, maybe go with queer. Cos it means pretty much anything. Straight but don't have sex as shown in porn videos? You're queer!

aname1234 · 31/01/2024 12:09

So next time a teenager/young adult comes along all high and mighty "this is my pro-noun" etc, we just say, "Oh how lovely dear! I'm queer too!" 😂😂😂

'If a mass of middle aged women identified as non binary, I maintain it would quickly kill it stone dead'

Absolutely. It would quickly become the most uncool, embarrassing thing ever. If teenagers 'come out' as non binary, the best response from parents would be 'oh darling! Me too! How lovely - we can celebrating being non binary together!' 😁 That would nip all of the 'identifying' bollocks in the bud

Cross post @aname1234 😁👍

If a mass of middle aged women identified as non binary, I maintain it would quickly kill it stone dead. It's just a fashion for most of the young people who affect a "non binary" identity. You've got to be able to deadpan it though.

I dunno.

I was previously on another forum where we Wrong-Side-of-History lot were discussing how (if we did subscribe to gender ideology) we were all so obviously non binary. Some of us jokingly suggested we should come out.

The Right-Side-of-History lot were completely incensed by this discussion.

Apparently, turns out that some animals are more equal than others, and TRSOH don't really believe their own mantra of "everybody is whatever they say they are" Hmm

They don't have to believe it, but they'd still hate the association Grin

Actually I've changed my mind - I'm going to be gender fluid so all those who have fawned over Eddie Izzard will also have to fawn over me. I want to be male for pay purposes, female for health with a bit of cat gender when I feel lazy.

The thing about the current fashion for expressing a non binary identity seems to be exerting a high degree of authoritarian control and narcissism.

I don't see why that has to be the case. I find it odd that trans allies feel they can't challenge that behaviour, like they actually think it's inherent to being non binary? Isn't that kind of insulting?

I like the idea of wearing the NB identity lightly and carrying on being my reasonable delightful self , only using the newly acquired powers when forced to.

That's the thing, NB identity requires no change or effort whatsoever.
