Their defence claims the fact that they’re transgender means they got a tougher sentence. And they pleaded guilty so should be rewarded with a lesser sentence AND apparently they’re helping to support other transgender inmates in jail.

The way judgments have been going, I'm sure the legal advisers consider this worth a punt.

rubygun · 19/01/2024 20:02

If anything, he needs to be in there for longer.

BoiledbeetleisArabellaslovechild · 19/01/2024 20:07

I hope he gets extra

AgnesX · 19/01/2024 20:09

I sincerely hope not.

BoiledbeetleisArabellaslovechild · 19/01/2024 20:09

And Bugger! I forgot to name change! I'm stuck as Arabella's love child now!

justgotosleepffs · 19/01/2024 20:11

Furthermore, why are BBC using in slm their headlines the massively airbrushed image presumably from one of his social media accounts which almost certainky looks nothing like him, rather than any number of unedited images from the trial or sentencing?

ArabellaScott · 19/01/2024 20:15

I have no words for this man. I hope he stays in jail for as long as is possible.

pickledandpuzzled · 19/01/2024 20:17

And he wants to be a social worker or support worker wWhen he gets out.

medianewbie · 19/01/2024 20:19

I'd like his sentence to be INCREASED.
HE is a predator.

Actually I think that photo, given there's also a much more accurate one lower down, shows up exactly why his 'transgender identity' was highly relevant to the case - it was his MO for abduction. If he hadn't looked plausibly feminine to the poor child she wouldn't have been deceived into getting into his car.

ArabellaScott · 19/01/2024 20:22

'Miller was also said to have expressed concern over how his behaviour would affect the wider trans community.'

That's right. But showed no concern for the girl who was his victim.

ScoldsBridle · 19/01/2024 20:22

A social worker? Does he?! I suppose it’s just a hop skip and a jump from being a butcher isn’t?! Such deranged self-delusion - please keep him off the streets for as long as possible.

Again and again we've seen transwomen get lighter sentences than they should

SiobhanSharpe · 19/01/2024 20:37

He held the girl captive for over 24 hours and repeatedly sexually assaulted her,

ArabellaScott · 19/01/2024 20:51

'The judge described the abduction as "brazen and chilling" and branded Miller's intentions as "wicked and predatory".
He added that Miller being dressed as a woman was an aggravating factor as he doubted that the girl would have got into the car if Miller had presented as a man.'

SiobhanSharpe · 19/01/2024 20:37

He held the girl captive for over 24 hours and repeatedly sexually assaulted her,

And more than likely would have gone on to kill her if she hadn't saved herself.

'Going to be a social worker'.... no, not a usual future for a registered sex offender. Particularly one lost in fantasy.

medianewbie · 19/01/2024 21:27

Andrew Miller told the Police who attended that he had got into to bed with his victim as it was a 'Motherly' thing to do. He is STILL hoping to prey on vulnerable women & girls with his plan to be a social worker upon release. He's a very dangerous Man.

ResisterRex · 19/01/2024 21:30

Perhaps he can identify as under 25, and get off with it entirely.

he absolutely didn’t. And why claim to be damaging how the trans community is perceived? I think that the reality of the stats does that. And his crime is but one.

That, and the fact that they believe an early guilty plea was not properly taken into account.

Everyone has the right to appeal. I'm not sure he has a very strong case, but we shall see.

ERCC would give him a job as a rape councellor in a New York second. He's their kind of people.

The worst thing about male violence is it makes men look bad.

I forget which rule of misogyny that is.
