Social Work England’s] failure to check if Mr Woolton’s complaint could be malicious, and not checking his previous social media history, is indicative of a lack of rigour in the investigation, and an apparent willingness to accept a complaint from one side of the gender self-identification/gender critical debate without appropriate objective balance of the potential validity of different views in what is a highly polarised debate.”

I, for one, am shocked and stunned that this happened yet again

borntobequiet · 09/01/2024 13:16

Very good news. Well done Rachel and her team.

Signalbox · 09/01/2024 13:16

"This is a landmark decision. It is the first time a Regulator and an Employer have together been found to have been liable for discrimination relating to gender critical beliefs."

christmascactus22 · 09/01/2024 13:16

A very strongly worded judgement which should give HR departments throughout the UK pause for thought.

IDontWantToBeInAnyGangThatYoureIn · 09/01/2024 13:18

I'm sure Billy will be retweeting this very soon.

Another injustice against women defeated!!! Congratulations Rachel, thank you for fighting against bullies and silencers!
The fight goes on!!!!!

Noshowlomo · 09/01/2024 13:21

Fantastic. Other councils take note!!

ADoggyDogWorld · 09/01/2024 13:23

Wow a comprehensive spanking by the tribunal for both SWE and WCC.

Thank you for the updates and links, made my day. Cheers, wims.

Cailin66 · 09/01/2024 13:24

What role did Woolton play in all of this?

OwlWeiwei · 09/01/2024 13:24

I hope a lot of law suits follow that will curb the tendency of bullies to enjoy silencing and humiliating GC women and trying to take away their livelihoods.

ArabellaScott · 09/01/2024 13:25

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!

'This is a landmark decision. It is the first time a Regulator and an Employer have together been found to have been liable for discrimination relating to gender critical beliefs.'

'Ms Meade’s solicitor, Shazia Khan, Founding Partner of Cole Khan Solicitors said:

“This is a landmark victory for common sense and free speech in the culture war on gender issues. The Tribunal found that my client was subjected to sustained and prolonged harassment by her employer Westminster City Council and her Regulator Social Work England for merely expressing her gender critical beliefs. This judgment sounds an alarm for all regulators — and all employers of regulated professionals — that they must not let their processes be weaponised by activists bent on silencing the debate on freedom of speech on gender. We demand apologies from Westminster City Council and Social Work England who have to date failed to acknowledge and accept their breaches of the Equality Act 2010 and the harrowing impact of their actions upon my client. We now call for urgent root and branch reform from the top down of both organisations to mitigate against further unlawful discrimination of employees and registrants”.'

Fantastic, Rachel and team. So very well done, and thank you.

All the other pipeline cases are going to go down like nine pins. The Green Party coffers will be decimated. Its a good job it's not an election year eh.

Not before they've caused maximum stress and cost lots of money.

IcakethereforeIam · 09/01/2024 13:29

Brilliant! Particularly liked this bit

“Context is important and merely accepting at face value a complainant’s subjective perception of offence is not the appropriate test, but rather that an objective evaluation should be undertaken.”

Who's Mr Woolton? I'm assuming the person who made the original complaint that started the whole shitshow.

Can they appeal? They were pretty much annihilated so, imo, they'd be mad to try.

Well done Rachel, I wish you all the best for this new year. I'm so glad you've won and been, comprehensively, vindicated but this must have been a dreadful experience. I'm so sorry you have been through this.

Boomboom22 · 09/01/2024 13:30

Good, particularly about the regulator. It is these institutions that have led to gc women living I fear and having to be careful to not say the truth in case they get sacked for offending a man.

Very good comments about looking at who is complaining and the context, rather than assuming tw are God as it were.

Wonderful news!

GailBlancheViola · 09/01/2024 13:39

That is a very damning judgement for SWE and WCC, rightly so.

Congratulations and sincere thanks Rachel for going through this the toll it must have taken on you cannot be overstated.

EasternStandard · 09/01/2024 13:40

This is utterly brilliant, from the press release

‘This is a landmark decision. It is the first time a Regulator and an Employer have together been found to have been liable for discrimination relating to gender critical beliefs.’

I hope she gets a huge payout

LeSlogo · 09/01/2024 13:40

Brilliant news! 👏

catduckgoose · 09/01/2024 13:41

Sorry I linked the wrong one, this is about the costs of the tribunal from last July.

Bloody brilliant

This is a battle that ultimately ends in courts and this win is fantastic

Thank you to Rachel

Bloody brilliant!! I do hope Billy Bragg has seen it too

It is excellent, but an absolutely inexcusable bloody tragedy that she's had to wade though all that shit for so long. I hope that any compensation takes into account the highly damaging stress she's been under, from being subject to this absolutely malicious, abusive process.

In other news, there was ice on deck, when I got up for shift at 10 last night. Tragically, Billy isn't onboard and even more tragically, was unable to slip on it and break his tweeting thumbs.
