There wasn't, think someone mentioned this on X a while back.
Just got a new iPhone last week and that's when I noticed it myself.

Mine doesn’t have them but they can be edited in as another field - I'm guessing if the field is in, it can be edited out? Must be new with this latest IOS 17.

I put “Don’t Be Silly” in mine when I discovered this.

I was beginning to think it had always been there but I'd never noticed until becoming sensitive to such silliness. Then I remembered it would usually say (in the past) "Title"..

It's very annoying. I can't edit it out so if someone else can let me know how!

Not sure I can live with a phone that doesn't share my terfy views...

There was a thread last year about this. My work phone is an iPhone, I'm now wondering if I can use this to my 'advantage' 😛
