Thanks. When a TRAs is parroting the "proscribed view" they could -
(1) Be doing so in the belief it is all rubbish but they wish to spout rubbish for their own ends, whatever they might be.
(2) Be doing so in the belief it is partly rubbish but they believe the ends justify the means because the belief system is, give or take, correct.
(3) Be doing so from a position of knowing that they have never really thought it all though, but simply trust the "priests" that the hymn sheet is correct.
(4) Be doing so from the position that they genuinely think that they've done their research and know for a fact that the hymn sheet is correct.
Do you think there is any way of getting an insight into which one of the four options applies to a particular individual? Do you think TRAs fall into all four camps, or are most of them in one or two of those categories?
I would imagine that most people are (3)s, but maybe that is m bias because I was a (3) before I engaged my brain (and heard Magdalene Berns spell it out clearly!)
